26. Yehesi // NIIA - 'Body'

27. Cadelicia // AYER - 'In My Headphones (TKDJS Remix)'

28. #00274E // July Child - 'Turn Me On'

29. Fljótavík // Space Above - 'This Is It

30. Aeroche // Ponibbi – 'HEARTSKIP'

The ever-successful Aeroche start us off here with a song that we briefly considered sending ourselves months before - if only we'd taken the risk we could have had a big hit on our hands, but truth be told it does sound better in 'roche's hands and is certainly more their sort of sound so no bad feels~ Fljótavík take us high up into space with the trippy, euphoric 'This is It'. I thought i loved it for the first 2 minutes, then i was obsessed for the next, and eventually i was foaming and on the ceiling when that final minute kicks in. A brilliant song that tells a wondrous story, taking you on an exhausting adventure with every listen. We're not usually huge on covers being sent to this, but #00274E got it spot on here - a song i like usually, but grew to LOVE with this re-imagining. Sultry, seductive and groovy ~#numbers through and through~ And from sensual rnb moves to down-and-out unadulterated dance with Cadelicia again, this time turning the volume up LOUD and bursting through my headphones whenever i play it. We conclude with the biggesT messT of a country going, Yahasi. In a rare moment of NON-messiness, they send the entrancing beauty that is 'Body'. Part of a wave of music that has wowed me a lot recently, that new-wave of dark pop in the vein of Taylor's 'Style' - this is high up there as one of the finest of the genre i've heard. More of this please.

Massive yes for Francesco Yates and particularly BØRNS  #longhairdontcare impacting here I see *.*

Sending love to the Actual Republic

Ooh that section screams 'oops I was too late' to me! That'll be because both 'In My Headphones' and 'This Is It' were mega growers. I didn't vote for either but I majorly regret it now! At least I can rectify that somewhat with the former in Rejects at least! Woo. x

So happy to see This Is It make your list and especially to be chosen for a YouTube clip mention, I really wasn't expecting anything FLJ to make it so I'll be aptly over the moon. Yayness all round.

21. Aquafina // Galantis - 'Runaway (U&I)'

22. Cadelicia // ALMA - 'Watcher'

24. Vülkyria // Nhyx - 'Machines'

24. Persephonia // tiny deaths - 'Ocean'

25. Federal Republic Of Ashton // IRIS - 'I'll Wait For You'

Ashton start off the next set, narrowly making it into the top half with a song we strongly considered sending ourselves but it kept getting pushed to the side, so we're actually ecstatic it got sent anyway. A lovely song, very-HAIM (boo hiss, but HAIM if they were GOOD). Persephonia do well again ;o we gave 18 to this back in LXXVIII and *fun fact* this is the only song from that contest to feature in this countdown :') not the best of finals, but Persephonia delivered a stunner and made it all worth it. Ty x One of the most recent entries next from Vülkyria is next - we're a sucker for whistling when it's done properly and this is prime example of that. The angry French vocals, the cheery whistling, the intense instrumentation, a fantastic, frantic riot of a song. Cadelicia again again with another song that we considered sending ourselves. 'Watcher' is majestic and classy and so literally the opposite to Oliver but he manages to pull it off perfectly - deserved so much more success than it got :( Finally Aquafina with the first of two entries (both of which became big UK chart hits - uninspired hen :')). After loving 'You' in the year before, this was another top tune from Galantis and got big points from us back in January - the start of an interesting year for Aquafina :')

Galantis! I loved 'You' prior to that as well, so it was a shame to feel a bit disappointed by their album.

Great section once again as IRIS and tiny deaths are also really good.

Iris is very 'HAIM if they were good' (as opposed to the real HAIM who are hole-slayingly amazing) ;o

And 'Ocean' wasn't the only good song in BJSC 78, there was also 'Look / Lak'! :music: (:kink:)

19. Jayrusalem // Natalie La Rose - 'Somebody (Feat. Jeremih)'

20. Oslol // Tamta - 'Unloved'

Two wildly different songs now - one universally well known and the other, an obscure number from the last contest. We start with Oslol who grew as the year went on to be a consistently good country for us, always sending deep pop that properly made us smile. 'Unloved' was a very melancholy song but it's alluring sound had us returning to it continually and it got top points in the semi final, but just missed out on the big 18 in the final. A strong, dark pop song - it's a big sound for us. And a song that probably should be higher than it is, but when i think about bjsc and songs i've grown to love from that, the songs that are still to come definitely deserve to be higher than this. But #19 is no bad thing in such a strong year. Miss La Rose, representing Jayrusalem provide a very urban and cool number with cool urbanite Jeremih and as we all know it went on to be a big smash officially too. We were much more in awe with Jay's 2013 songs (Kay and The Green Children forever in our hearts :snif:) but this year proved they still have the capability to provide ultimate jams :music: more of the same next year please~

17. Ramrynia // EVVY - 'Tidal Wave'

18. Yehesi // Yellow Claw - 'Till It Hurts (feat. Ayden)'

Two songs now that I did not appreciate in the contests they were in as much as I do now. The first from Yahasi literally only properly hit me the other week when I was re-listening to songs to compile this list. 'Till It Hurts' is addictive, explosive and so strong - i supported it back in January but then forgot it existed until now. I love the forceful vocals in the verses and then the euphoric release in the chorus and then that breakdown *.* And following on from that, one of the most uplifting songs from BJSC this year. 'Tidal Wave' from Ramrynia is a perfect example of why they are often one of the strongest purveyors of pop music here - catchy, fun, quirky pop at its best. It's no wonder they do so well so often, the music is so universal and likeable. (ny2) Try not to smile throughout this song :music:

Queen Ayden and Kings Yellow Claw slaying ur non-yassshesi faves

One of my best entries so I'm glad to find some recognition for it

Ohmygosh :( I was expecting to have at least one song here but I really can't see anything that I've seen being higher than what's been mentioned already </3

15. Ramrynia // ASTR - 'Activate Me'

16. Hushkanukia // Sumera - 'Wolf'

Back in October this song was battling for one of the tightest races for 18 we can remember. Since then it competed with the song that eventually beat it in my personal chart, but despite not getting the maximum back then, it has haunted me since. There are so many layers to this song from Hushkanukia, the haunting chants, the rousing "you keep taking the force" being repeated throughout and the dark, spooky wolf-like trawling it takes throughout. It's a terrifying but beautiful song and had it not been such a strong year, it would have been an easy top 10 for me here. And up next, following the incredible 'Operate' sent by Syndare a few years back, Ramrynia return with a song that perhaps challenges even that. The magnetic 'Activate Me' activates all my senses and cemented itself as my favourite track from the country this year. It's been another strong year from them, but this is the song that excites me most - it's so exciting and demands repeated listens.
