#1s this year is 2 weeks a piece for 3 acts, James +1 (2012), Will & Britney, Bingo Players.

Macklemore should get a week or 2, depends when the Avicii track is out. From the release schedule Avicii is out next week.

Same Love isn't novelty though. However, only time will tell.

You could've said the same for Eminem back in 1999/2000 but he proved otherwise.

You're right. But in Eminem's case, the hip-hop community at large never really saw him as a Vanilla Ice-type pop novelty, if only because he already had a solid past in the indie scene and a reputation as a battle rapper. So it's not as it seemed like he came out of nowhere, as the scene in general felt as if he had paid his dues before he exploded like he did.

Depending on how well 'Thrift Shop' takes off, it could easily get 3, maybe 4 weeks at #1. However, I'd equally be as happy to see Avicii get to no. 1 although I doubt it'd have the massive selling power to get to no. 1 and stay there for 2 weeks (1 week is possible but then Macklemore would probably return to #1 the following week).

I think Avicii could do 65k at best, Thrift Shop will probably beat it to #1.

The #1s will go something like this

10 February 2013 - Macklemore & Ryan Lewis feat. Wanz "Thrift Shop"

17 February 2013 - Macklemore & Ryan Lewis feat. Wanz "Thrift Shop"

24 February 2013 - One Direction "One Way Or Another" :manson:

Macklemore has had a following for quite a while as well. His latest album got to #2 in the US last year, before Thrift Shop blew up. He had a minor chart hit in Ireland last year too.

There seems to be no news on the video which is really irritating!! I'd rather her just say she isn't going to make one if it's not going to happen! But considering the song, the music video could be so epic!! :( Can we make a petition to get her to release one? :P

Yep, sorry not a photoshooting but an advert from 2012 by Rihanna, nothing to do with the song ;)

Just so you know, she shot it this weekend. :cheer:

So it's likely to come out this month, definitely after the Grammys though (where she will perform). The BRITS are actually on her birthday this year (the 20th). If she performs, and the video comes out that week, it could re-peak.

If she performs it, I think it has a chance to peak at 2 or 1.

Sorry yes I meant "new peak" not "re-peak".

Well, some call a new peak a re-peak if it had peaked before :D Either way, I think Stay should do better than 4.

2 Emeli Sandé - Clown 0.5000 0.4062 0.3542

WTF???

Out of interest, was 'Clown' one of the two tracks played in the skate off on Dancing On Ice? I don't watch it but read it was used during the main show.

If it was then it's the third example I can think of a song being played on DOI/SCD and getting played again as it's used in the skate off/dance off ('Candy' and 'Skyfall' being the two others from SCD). Seems being in the bottom 2 on these types of shows can be great for boosting sales of the tracks used. :D

I'd love for both Thrift Shop and I Could Be The One to be UK #1's, but indeed the latter looks like it might be destined for #2...

Clown and One Way Or Another are other possibilities I guess depending on whether Emeli delivers a showstopping performance of the former at the Brits.

What's gonna prevent it? I think it'll go all the way.

Thrift Shop still seems to be growing at a rapid pace, could easily be shifting 80-90k the week Avicii's released, which could be enough to stop him.
