Should MKS be expecting a C-List entry this week? The release is in 4 weeks!

It's usually about 3 weeks before release, possibly this week it'll get added.

Predictions for today...

Olly Murs - Right Place Right Time (surely they'll add this, would be strange of them to snub it)

Austin Mahone - What About Love (he was on Scott Mills' show a few weeks ago so I'm guessing they'll support this)

London Grammar - Strong (pretty much a certainty)

Mutya Keisha Siobhan - Flatline (the whole of Buzzjack holds their breath in anticipation )

Wankelmut & Emma Louise - My Head Is A Jungle

Example - All The Wrong Places (could be a week too early though)

Can't really see much else on the release schedule that looks likely of an add!

There are rumours regarding 'Flatline' that it won't be playlisted because it doesn't fit with the younger audience Radio 1 are aiming to...

And in 2011 R1 snubbed Freedom by 4.0 because they heard 1.0 were reuniting, and "that's the line-up we're teaming for".

Hooray! We'll see today what's going to happen anyway.

Same Love doesnt have an official release date yet but sometimes radio 1 just playlist the next single!

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are already planning their next single in the US so they really need to get a move on with Same Love here. I fear they're going to just skip it and move onto the next to match the US but surely not...

Would love some support for this!

Radio 1 will not playlist Flatline unless they want to keep the average R1 listening age at 32 (they don't)
I don't see how MKS aren't with their relevant target audience? If anything I think it's PERFECT for their target audience and is getting massive love and hype on the forums/blogs/internet. It got the best reviews and mostly positive feedback or something during Radio 1's review show or something. I can't see them not playlisting if I'm honest. But again, I'm not sure why but I wouldn't be too shocked if they didn't playlist them. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

It's at #144 on iTunes here which is the highest it's ever got I think, so it could definitely do with a playlisting now and have the video sent to music channels. I'm also worried they're going to skip it but Macklemore seems to be pretty proud of the song and I imagine he'd want it to be a proper single everywhere. I can him performing it at the VMA's and it getting a big boost from that in the US (and maybe the UK as well).

Would be totes gayist if they skipped it

The Sugababes target audience is 20-25. I'm saying it as a leader of a large Sugababes group in Russia and I get all the statistics of who is in my group (age / gender / georgaphy etc.). Sorry for being too old 23 y.o. fart and not fitting to a young and fresh R1 audience!

It's like I said before, the fact MKS are getting so much love from the indie press means it's likely they will get playlisted. Of course it's not a guarantee, but Radio 1 are really desperate to be seen as 'hip' and 'cool' at the moment.

I guess it's not all about age as they wouldn't playlist Jay Z (43), Justin Timb (32), Kanye West (36), Pink (33) & various others.

If Radio 1 are going for cool, I won't be listening to it anymore, what's wrong with just good songs FFS.

There'll be murder if they snub the new Kylie single just cos she's 21! (+21)(+3)

I'm not hopeful about Kylie, especially as they made no secret of the fact they refused to playlist Robbie Williams last year because of his age (38 at the time!).

I think it's about a week or two too early for this but would love to see CHVRCHES 'The Mother We Share' get an add this week
I think the likes of Jay-Z, Kanye and JT still get R1 playlisting despite being old is because the type of music they make is still hip n' cool and not radio 2 friendly. It's not the age of the artists that they're worried about it's the age of the listeners (I wouldn't be surprised if Flatline gets either snubbed or playlisted, it could be one way or the other)

I heard somewhere that Same Love has a 9th September release date. If that's true then they'll either add it to the playlist this week or next!

Sadly there's no way they'll play Kylie now, no matter how good the song is. Like Robbie, she's more of a Radio 2 artist now.

I would LOVE Neon Jungle to get added, but I really don't know. I get the feeling they'll be snubbed for some reason (despite R1 playlisting Icona Pop). But there is money being thrown into these girls so I think there's a chance the label could get them on there!
Nick Grimshaw played Lay Down in Swimming Pools a couple of times when it was uploaded onto SoundCloud and as someone said, Flatline got the best reviews on the Review Show. They can't say that it doesn't appeal to their target audience either with it sounding similar to some songs that they have previously playlisted. I would be extremely disapointed if Radio 1 didn't playlist it.
