If a song gets taken off iTunes it usually means the record label are going to promote it hard. Songs like Call Me Maybe, Fireflies, We Are Young, etc. were originally on iTunes, and when they started blowing up in other countries they got taken off UK iTunes to be held back and promoted pre-release.

 

 

It was never really "available" though. Just pre-order

I'm not so worried about Icona Pop actually getting a release here, it's gonna be a top 5 hit in the US. What the label are doing with it is pretty annoying though, but I'm confident this will be a big hit whenever it comes around.

Nope! The last single they playlisted was Freedom last year, which only peaked on the C-list. She's obviously gone out of flavour with Radio 1!

Here's an interesting discussion for you. Will Radio 1 playlist the Dizzee Rascal & Robbie Williams collaboration Going Crazy? They made such a fuss at the back end of last year saying that Robbie is now too old for Radio 1. So if they did playlist it, it would be a major uturn for Radio 1 on everything they said last year. Does anyone else reckon that this collaboration was to get Robbie back on Radio 1 as they always support Dizzee with his music? Interested to know your thoughts here.

Yeah was saying this last week when it got premiered, radio 1 gave it its premiere and then most of the daytime shows played it once so it should get playlisted in the coming weeks, could be a really big summer hit.

 

I think it will go straight into the blist next week, its Dizzees return rather than Robbie's i uppose. Good way to get him back in the limelight.

Its hard in general now predicting the playlist because release dates are nearly all before this its just impact dates now for the backward radio stations lol.

 

Anyway Tom Odell has been record of the week on the 10am show so it should get added!

Frankly I think you're making a huge fuss over nothing. They didn't playlist "Candy" because it was fully supported by commercial radio, and Radio 1's remit is to "use an extensive playlist to introduce unfamiliar and innovative songs alongside more established tracks".

 

Get over it!

Radio 1 didn't play the Shakira/Dizzee collab, but I think they'll play this tbh.

 

There's lots of times where they don't playlist songs but then playlist songs by the same artist later on. It happens all the time with rappers and rock bands and electronica producers, but it's only with pop artists where there's uproar if ONE of their songs don't get playlisted for some reason. :lol:

 

They usually play the songs anyway if they don't playlist them. Like they didn't playlist f***in' Problems by A$AP Rocky, but they still played it a few times.
