Posted February 24, 201312 yr I am pleased to announce the five people who will join our team to become Buzzjack's first temporary moderators! We are all very excited about working with and getting to know our five 'winners'. Thank you to all of you who threw your name into the ring. It's not an easy thing to do and the standard of applications was very high. (announcement order and contest draw decided by BJSC Platinum sponsor Random.org. Random.org - for all your random integer list needs) First up is the person who will be taking on BJSC LIV: Taking the middle month is a person who already moderates one of the busiest forums on Buzzjack. Joining us from the Lounge team is.... EYES (Séyetania) Our next winner will be our first temp, joining us immediately, to tackle BJSC LII: Becoming the first ever Temporary Moderator in the site's history is co-mods with the poster above in the pop genre forum. Welcome to..... JOHNKM (Altyr Muunilinst) Third candidate to be announced will be joining us for Ashton's 40th contest as a moderator. Taking on BJSC LV: They've just been crowned moderator of the personal charts, it's.... ORICON (Daehun) <--- We get it right when it matters :P Fourth candidate is going to be bringing up the rear with BJSC LVI: They are used to running countdowns on Buzzjack and have recently become co-mods with Oricon. From Personal Charts and the Poster's Chart it's..... JÁHQ (Bignia-Zaragovina) That leaves us with just one more place and one more contest. BJSC LIII: Last but by no means least... I became a moderator when I was promoted into their vacant spot following NF-gate. They are a member of the contests oldest voting bloc along with Ashton. It can only be........GOODDELTA (Former Scandinavian Republic of Rontvia) Full list BJSC LII - JohnKM (Altyr Muunilinst) BJSC LIII - Gooddelta (FSR Rontvia) BJSC LIV - Eyes (Séyetania) BJSC LV - Oricon (Daehun) BJSC LVI - Jáhq (Bignia Zaragovina) Congratulations to our five winners and commiserations to those of you who didn't make it.
February 24, 201312 yr Oh my! Some excellent candidates there - and me of course. Well I shall look forward to LIV then (best contest name).
February 24, 201312 yr I was hoping for some people who weren't moderators in other forums as well, but congratulations to everyone who was chosen! :D
February 24, 201312 yr Thank you for giving me this opportunity! YAY. Commiserations to those who missed out though. :(
February 24, 201312 yr Well done everybody! The contest is a VERY different beast to the one I used to mod in 2008/9 and I'm really looking forward to getting involved again, especially getting involved with the veto system!
February 24, 201312 yr Damn, I can't believe my 5 second rush job of an application didn't get me a place!!! In all seriousness though well done to those people. Pretty good picks. Can't believe Leww didn't get a place (I have it on good authority that he applied).
February 24, 201312 yr Well done guys. How brutal will you be with the veto process? :D Very. Cheapness and being uninspired is the one thing I've never been able to abide in BJSC, it's a lazy way to get a hit. I prefer the 'introduce a fantastic completely unknown song to everyone and see if you can get a top ten hit with that' approach. The reason I stepped down in 2009 was less because of the national final rule and more because XIV was a complete wash out and at the time I was completely powerless to stop it happening again. The new release schedule got a major battering and made for a dire contest (albeit one which FSR Rontvia won, completely by default due to the lack of decent competition!). So when it comes to my month, anything that's already featured in 10+ personal charts, has big coverage or hype on any of the major blogs or music sites, appears on any notable radio playlist, or is rapidly climbing up the Billboard charts will get a big no from me (exceptions may apply :P)! Granted, it's all a lot more 'unknown' these days, but I still usually know half of the entries before listening, compared to usually only 1 or 2 in Unknown Pleasures! Trust me, the rewards are greater when you do well with a song that nobody (or very few people) was previously aware of.
February 24, 201312 yr Damn, I can't believe my 5 second rush job of an application didn't get me a place!!! In all seriousness though well done to those people. Pretty good picks. Can't believe Leww didn't get a place (I have it on good authority that he applied). oh i would only be getting it twisted if i thought my application was one of the best!!! (i did kinda go a bit informal ending it with a destiny's child video OOPS)
February 24, 201312 yr Author I was hoping for some people who weren't moderators in other forums as well, but congratulations to everyone who was chosen! :D Our past three new moderators were new to management on Buzzjack. As it happened the 5 people chosen were the people we felt would be most suited to the position. We did have people who don't currently have a management job apply. Some lost out because of the high standard and others lost out because while we could see potential in them, we didn't feel they were ready for this job. We didn't take into account if the person was already a mod or not. That didn't matter in our eyes. What mattered was finding the best people that we believe could help take our contest forwards regardless of if they moderate nothing on Buzzjack, are king of the AF's or have half of the main forums under their command. It's always about finding the best people and the people who have the potential and we feel are ready to take on this role.
February 24, 201312 yr oh i would only be getting it twisted if i thought my application was one of the best!!! (i did kinda go a bit informal ending it with a destiny's child video OOPS) You should have got it just for that tbh :o But congrats everyone anyway. Agree with the varied-ness of it all too :D
February 24, 201312 yr Congratulations to all you who got the jobs! :cheer: We've definitely got a very strong team there! If this had been advertised a month or two ago I'd have probably jumped at the chance to moderate for a contest (and probably failed to get a place), but it just doesn't appeal to me at this moment in time as I've got enough commitments and things that I probably should be doing. But I'm still attached to BJSC as much as ever! :D
February 24, 201312 yr Author I can respect that and I never said that it wasn't in the first place. I know that, I was just explaining why we didn't go for people who weren't already moderators. Not just for your benefit but for all of the people who compete in BJSC.
February 24, 201312 yr well done guys!!! great choices, very ~varied~ HA. VERY varied. Like SUPER varied :D
