Wow. We don't get chart runs like those anymore. Instead of 29-13-5-{4}-10-16-21-32-50-66 we get 29-13-5-{4}-5-5-7-8-9-10-15-16-22-21-25-32-36-40-40-40-55-50-35-66-63-61-67-etc. :drama:

Just with a few exceptions like Kiss the Stars. Although the charts aren't THAT so far this year at least.

I know although thats because artists release the single straight away, then the radio plays start then 4 weeks later a video is released so its poor promo by record companies!

Loving the fact Bastille are doing so well, hopefully this beckons in a new era of non-dance, rnb songs dominating the charts.
Poor the 1975 falling to no33 they arent going to make the top 40 are they?

Doesn't look like it :( but I think Stereophonics might! :)

We haven't had an era like that since 2008 so it would be welcome.

It's actually quite bizarre how quickly the music scene moved from retro/throwback pop/R&B to futuristic electro-pop/dance. It must've been Lady GaGa who turned it around so quickly.

Sugababes, who of late became known for chasing trends, are a good reflection of this. In late 2008, they released the 60s-esque 'Girls' but only a year later were releasing electro-pop like 'Get Sexy' and 'About A Girl'.

I know, silly moves by sugababes,

Suprisingly p!nk hasnt changed her style at all lol and is still massive.

Glad just give me a reason is doing well. Stunning song as per usual by p!nk

I'd definately say Lady Gaga brought in the era of electro/dance pop back in early 2009. Not sure whether Bastille's success is down to a new era or just a one-off yet but it's nice to hear music that doesn't sound like ir;s been produced by David Guetta.

32. Sarah McLachlan - Angel

Really hope this can stabilise enough to get an official top 40 placing this weekend! :( Beautiful song.

I'm really excited to see which underrated/forgotten "classic" will get a huge boost from The Voice this year.

I'm hoping that Dog Days (Are Over) by Florence + the Machine gets a huge boost one of these days, it's too good to never even enter the Top 20!

Come on Arlissa - keep climbing!

A T6 reshuffle of sorts on the cards for this week then? Timberlake looking to hold a second week, Bruno looking to advance 6-2 and then Bastille's multiple versions might end up keeping it inside the T3; with One Direction, Macklemore and Avicii to follow.

Bruno was #7 last week - and in any case Bridgit will probably end up at least #6 if not top 5.

Arlissa  to #66, looking likely to bring the number of Sound of 2013 acts with top 75 singles to 9/15 this week then. And with Palma Violets having a top 75 album and A*M*E due a big hit with 'Need U (100%)' there'll only be 4 left with no chart action at all in a few weeks' time!

Toto  to #88 and #123, really hope they can manage a top 100 re-entry this week. It seems to be a strong download seller anyway and gets boosted back up fairly regularly but it's yet to manage a top 100 position in the download era.

DDAO is definitely due a 'One Day Like This' style boost in the (fairly) near future.

Get Sexy is actually modelled around Boom Boom Pow I'm afraid, so that's nothing to do with Lady Gaga. And the Sugababes released songs like Push the Button, Easy and Red Dress in the mid-00s, so they've always been doing electropop, and then About You Now, which is also pure electropop and sounded very similar to Hot N Cold by Katy Perry. And most of those songs are more dancey than the fluffy About A Girl (if I'm thinking of the correct song, I haven't heard it in about 3 years lol).

Girls Aloud were also constantly releasing electropop songs throughout their whole career too.

The electropop/dance-pop era started in 2006 when Maneater, SexyBack, SOS, My Love, Smack That, etc. were released and were all massive hits, even in the US, and then that paved the way for more electropop songs like Stronger, Ayo Technology, Don't Stop the Music, Gimme More, The Way I Are, etc. to come the year after.

Good choice! :D

I'm hoping some of these will find chart success:

Frank Ocean - Thinkin' Bout You / Bad Religion

The Smiths - There Is A Light That Never Goes Out

Christina Aguilera - You Lost Me

Beyonce - Broken-Hearted Girl

Kelly Clarkson - Already Gone

Leona Lewis - Here I Am

Solange - Losing You

Stevie Wonder - Redemption Song

I've only selected songs I can actually see being performed on the show.
