59p songs in the top 100:

 28 The Script - If You Could See Me Now

 29 Kodaline - High Hopes

 68 Blackstreet & Dr. Dre - No Diggity

 73 Wiley feat. Skepta, JME & Ms D - Can You Hear Me? (Ayayaya)

What do the decimal numbers mean in the 'unweighted' top ten you posted?

I guess they're just the same as on Kworb, but combined. It's unweighted because number 1 isn't necessarily on 100%, and the numbers aren't necessarily a percentage of the #1. Just a guess anyway.

As you can see Duke Dumont is selling 118%, compared to P!nk on 74%. If it was weighted, P!nk would be on 0.62 to Duke's 1.00

Thanks for explaining :)

Why is this?

If the songs don't build up enough airplay (which to be fair, they probably wouldn't have done anyway - even if they were held back), then they're not exactly gonna sell compared to a track that is getting airplay. People won't buy what they don't know exists/haven't heard!

Yeah thats true although i think availability is key in the download era if people have to wait 6 weeks for a song then they will get it by other means and the chart becomes less relevant.

If a song is available people can buy the song whenevr they want to and if its truely popular it will rise the chart and sell alot of copies. Record labels hold back songs to achieve artificial chart positions because alot of the time a song isnt actually that popular and will not achieve a decent peak.

Theives will still steal the song whether it is released immediately or after a wait

I don't agree with this - to quote an old saying 'you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear'. A high peak is meaningless of you drop right out of the charts in 3-4 weeks, whereas songs destined to become classics need no such hyping.

Chris Malinchak's "So Good to Me" EP pre-order is currently #15!! :o :o Just......wow.

(and also Rudimental's "Waiting All Night" EP also SLAYING at #22)

A lot of the time though, radio drop songs off the playlist if it's not picking up quickly enough or still building momentum, so it never gets the chance. That's why for some releases it works well, and for others it doesn't.

Yes, I've noticed that as well.

I think it's because the UK radio system is quite influenced by the charts (for example songs like Someone Like You and Price Tag which came out of "nowhere" and went to #1 did the same on the airplay chart only a few weeks after). In other countries, like the US, I've noticed it's the opposite. Songs can be top 10 on iTunes for months and still not get much airplay (e.g. Home by Phillip Phillips, it took SOOOOO long to become a proper hit), and there's other songs which do really poorly on iTunes there, but do well in airplay.

P!nk should be number 1.

Story of her life

Yes Taylor!!!!! :cheer:

Boo Taylor. Was bound to happen eventually I guess though. :(

 24. Work - Iggy Azalea

 31. High School (feat. Lil Wayne) - Nicki Minaj

:left: 33. Attracting Flies - AlunaGeorge

 38. The Paddington Frisk - Enter Shikari

I'm surprised Iggy even held up past her first week, but it looks like she could keep climbing for a few more weeks still! Great to see it must at least have top 40 in the bag anyway after 'Beat Down' just missed out. Wow at how well Nicki is doing already as well! Any comments Eric :P

And I see Enter Shikari are back, always love their song titles :D

Great to see Taylor in the top 10 with '22'. :D

I didn't really like the song at first mainly because Taylor was doing my head in with the criminally overrated 'I Knew You Were Trouble' and also because I thought '22' was a bit average at first but after a few listens and seeing the video, I've concluded it is by far her best single this era. :D Sound great for the summer too.
