Saw the video had premiered, so decided to FINALLY listen to this today. I really like it, nice to see them taking a different spin to the electro-pop/ballads we're used to! It sounds like a hit too, which is always a bonus.

The video's alright, product placement central though (come on, they're not exactly Gaga, are they?).

Is it just me that thinks Frankie's lip sync at the end of the rap looks absolutely awful?

I love the video now haha, except for the girls dressed as men. It's just a bit of a concept wasted.

Wow on second viewing my opinion changed! I love it! :) A subtle video that pretty much does its job.

How's this doing on views? Didn't What About Us get a million views in its first two days or something? I guess that was more because of the whole hype in America and people checking them out as the TV show hadn't aired at the time the video came out so I doubt Gentleman will manage that now but hopefully it'll get close.

EDIT: Just checked. Only 58k views... umm?

They're not even on the airplay top 1000 yet :(

Where was What About You at this time before they released this song? There's still hope.

I'm thinking that this could be the new All Fired Up.

We've got just over six weeks until release haven't we? I think it's fairly certain to say this is definitely going to cull some, if not all, of the momentum and hype they'd gained from What About Us, but at the same time it's so different to WAU that it's getting people talking, good or bad, it's still getting a reaction and noticed. It's too marmite to do much for them IMO but hopefully it starts picking up airplay wise in the next week or so. I don't think we should worry too much at the moment.

It'll be between John Newman and Icona Pop for #1, The Sats will probably be looking at low top 10 or #5/#6.

I wish I knew :P

Yeah I was about to post at how low the YouTube views were, especially compared to What About Us getting a million in 24 hours.

The lack of airplay is worrying, but it's still going to be a top ten single anyway.

Part of 'What About Us' getting a million views in that time was because they were 'launching' in the US and were the Vevo Lift artists and had a huge banner all over all the YouTube videos!

I'm sorry but you can't blame the budget on how tacky and poorly executed this video is - Rachel Adedeji has managed to make more effective and aesthetically pleasing videos than this on a budget that's probably about £2, it's just lazy. The label should've capitalised on their first huge success as a girlband with another huge track and a good video to match - and they've completely got it wrong on both fronts in my opinion, coming from someone who actually loves The Saturdays and owns all their albums.

They still are put down as Vevo Lift artists on the Vevo lift page and their profile

I love the video, it's not their best or provided with a heavy budget.

I think we need to stop comparing the Airplay, of course What About Us was going to have more effective airplay as the video was out within the start of January as was the song sent to radio.

I'm sure Gentleman will enter the top 100 on Radio next week. I agree it's a bit disappointing to see it not being top 100 but the video will have a good effect.

I don't think it's fair to compare the first day views between ' What About Us ' and 'Gentleman' as 'Gentleman' is not being heavily advertised though, but it's worrying that it's only manged 113,000 compared to 'What About Us' 1million views.

I've just noticed how little vocals Frankie has on this song. I mean, Mollie/Una/Vanessa/Rochelle seem to actually have an equal amount (or maybe it just seems that way because there's a new vocal after every line) and Frankie only really has the line at the start, the "you could at least be faithful" line and "holler at me".
The song is heavily dominated by Rochelle, Vanessa and Una, I would say Mollie has limited lines also.
I think the presence of Mollie and Unas vocals make the song quite edgy (if thats right) and I am loving the fact they management are comfortable enough to give them both more leads as Mollie sings quite a bit on 30 days, WAU and this :)
What About Us only get those views because of the huuuuuuge Vevo thing they had back then. They absolutely should do it again. It didn't help much in the US, but it was really effective in the UK.

The video disappointed me. :( It's not just the horrendous use of green screen - ultimately I just found it quite uneventful. The concept is great, but the execution is poor. Not blaming The Saturdays themselves for any of this by the way. With what they had to work with, they did the best they could.

Still here for the song though.
