I get the feeling that in years to come, this will mark the point when a whole generation stop following the chart as it slowly turns from a list of popular songs to a list of Top 40 Most Popular Facebook Campaigns...

The 2009 Christmas Number 1 facebook campaigning had a far bigger imact on the charts and that didn't happen then.. so you're talking rubbish

I genuinely thought this would "do a 'Broski'" at best! Hope it climbs more. Would be interesting to see Buzzjack's reaction to THIS LMAO.

sort of wish the campaigns were for a song that deserves it, Biblical by Biffy Clyro is probably going to be their first song to miss the top 40 since Eradicate The Doubt which was 2003 and off their 2nd studio album The Vertigo Of Bliss

languishing down in the lower top 100 but will never climb enough and the EP didn't get enough sales for a top 40 place. The witch song will be ignored by Radio 1 as they did with the update and I'd be surprised if they played Fandango's theme tune :D

2 Judy Garland (Et Al.) - Ding-Dong! the Witch Is Dead 0.8804

Gaining on Duke Dumont pretty fast as well, actually think this will go to #1 now at least on iTunes :o

I find unexpected songs popping up in the charts quite 'exciting' to follow and see how they do :P the power of what people can do to make a song hit is also interesting to see... Compared to a glossy campaign consisting of thousands of pounds which record labels chuck at certain artists. Plus I guess ding dong [although offensive and in bad taste to some] is actually showing the mood of the nation and what they are singing at home! Rather than just another song which has lyrics of no meaning ha

This is the beauty of music. At times like this it reflects the people. Not the garbled 'walking on eggshells' complimentary media and parliamentary minutes.

ChaChaLaLa (Fandango theme tune) 16

Yeah, its no surprise though considering the pre-orders yesterday will have been more than likely her core fanbase pre-ordering, we'll have to wait until the song is premiered in full before casual buyers start pre-ordering too! I still think it did incredibly well to get to #221 on pre-orders without the full song even being able to be heard, it peaked higher than Selena too which got to around #230 I think!

 14. WWE: ChaChaLaLa (Fandango) - Jim Johnston

This to kick Taylor out of the top 10 please! (Or Calvin/The 1975 but this is the most likely to do it).

'Ding-Dong! The Witch Is Dead' has slowed down again but still gaining, currently 0.9083!

Regarding the purchase of single for political reasons being discounted surely singles like Free Nelson Mandella and Sunday Bloody Sunday should have been excluded from the chart as well?

I realise the point is moot now, but as a pedant I can't resist pointing out that 'Sunday Bloody Sunday' didn't actually chart, as it was never released as a single in the UK. And 'Nelson Mandela' isn't actually called 'Free Nelson Mandela' although a lot of people know it as such (my brother once heard a member of The Special AKA call it that) - I believe it was retitled to avoid boycotts by radio stations and retailers.

For what it's worth, whilst I'd disapprove of a decision to exclude a record from the chart for its political stance, I don't think the analogy totally works, because there is a distinction between a record with political content that people buy because they want to have it, and an unpolitical song that people buy purely as a statement. As I say, though, I wouldn't want either type to be ruled out.
