We're not putting any guidelines or anything in for next month. We're scaling back the regulations all the way back to the days before the Anti Cheap Movement and the subsequent AF Rule, then the Expanded AF Rule, the shitty and ineffective Banlist and then the Veto. Going back all the way to the regulation-less early days and the pre-XIV era.

The rules will consist of: No ESC tracks, No Covers (Maybe if they are significantly different), Nothing from the top3 of LIII, Not the same artist you sent last month, Nothing that has been entered before.

Other than that it's up to you whether you continue to treat it like a normal contest, express your annoyance at the veto system by entering something we've vetoed (I will ban anyone who subjects me to f***ing Darin :hitler: There's no need to send that abomination and violate everyones ears in such a horrific manner) :kink: , enter something you think may not pass the veto under normal circumstances or treat this like XXVIII and go bat shit crazy and take the chance to send a FUTURE CLASSIC like this United State of Jack entry:

Well, I will be ensuring that I treat it like a normal contest, otherwise people have no right to complain about vetoing, if they're going to abuse the fact they've been given freedom for a single contest. You may well be proven right in a few months that mods are needed to keep us all in line, but I would hope people are sensible enough not to take advantage. And, don't worry, there will be no Darin (I'm saving him BJFestivalen :basil: )

I've got a brilliant idea that just came to me! It's a song that probably would've been an obvious winner at the time but it was for some reason never entered! Probably a bit cheap, but it's not taking the piss or anything.

I can avoid Darin in the heats of BJFest at the very least given that the mods are seeded separately.

I haven't decided if I'm going to use this month to make a point (Hello there Imagine!) or if I'm just going to take advantage of people entering cheaper tracks and try and repeat my XXVIII victory.

 I probably won't send Darin to that either, but he does have a fabulous song under 3 minutes!

And it worked for Uh Huh Her, Molly and Margaret! But, whether proving a point would be more valuable than a 2nd Ashton win is obviously up to you. :kink:

Oh I'm hardly WORSE than Ramrynia.

As bloody awful as Icona Pop is, they've never entered Cody Simpson. That's an unrivalled level of awful :P

TAKE THIS BACK.

(high five for Cody hating though, we need more of them)

The track's I could use to prove a point could actually storm to victory! It'll be an interesting month. Hey, I could even enter Molly again to attempt to score the second win by a foreign language track to add to Mitt Liv Är Mitt.

I think you better get checked out - a severe case of SHIT TASTE going on here.

:kink:

I don't think it will be easy for anybody to storm to victory next month. Imagine if the likes of Feathers, Heartstrings, White Light Moment, Imagine, Ashes Of My Paradise, Water Against The Rocks, We Should Go Home Together, Begging, Snow and Habits all ended up in competition with each other :o Bloodbath central and that's without even taking into the other 40 entries!

(This may or may not be my preferred way to announce all future vetoed tracks :kink: )

I would certainly hope if people DID enter such obvious entries most people would do better than to award them high points. I mean half those songs Rich listed are 11/10 moments of utter, utter brilliance but if ANY of them are entered they won't get a single point from me.
What John said is what I'd be doing next contest. Even if someone enters one of my most favourite songs ever, they'll either get penalised for being ridiculously cheap or have a 66% deduction on their original points.

Is it only me or does this seem absolutely stupid.

Think I might sit XLIV out.

I was tempted to sit it out but I think I'll stay in. Not sure if I'm more embarrassed for whoever decided to throw a "maybe NOW you'll appreciate us!!" tantrum or the pop fans who are orgasming at the thought of unleashing the inner cheap whore they've been forced to repress.

Praying a new Nicole or Saturdays single leaks!

jk ofc :teresa:

I don't see why people need to use the next contest "to make points" or whatever, just because the veto has been lifted. Just send what you would send in a normal contest and the point will be proven (if there is any need) in a fairer manner, if it was sent. I'm not sure I'd trust next contest now, just coz I think the scoring is going to be manipulated in some way. I think I've only ever had one veto (maybe two but I can't remember at the moment) so, it shouldn't affect my choices. I'm not going to go and send a song I purposefully thought was "cheap" just to prove a point or whatever.

The problem I had with the vetoing process in the first place was that I just thought it was far too strict. I get that in some situations it's probably needed, but most of the time it feels like (I'm not saying it is) "one rule for one, another rule for the others". I know that the mods don't know who sent what for each contest when deciding what to veto and what not to veto, but I don't get why Tone wasn't a unanimous veto, despite being an obvious veto, for example and then Girl's Day being a veto but had far less blog exposure, hype or anything. The consistency is what was lacking for the vetoing process imo.

I do hope people don't abuse this next contest just for the sake of abusing it and "trying to prove a point" or whatever. Just send what you'd usually send to the contest and we should have as little "cheap" entries as possible.

EDIT: Oh and I assume the rules are still in place i.e. Radio 1 playlisting, AF forums not being allowed to be entered etc... (or whatever the standard rules are)
