Very good sales considering no-one (except Bre) expected it to go to #1! The album I think will go top 5 at least off the massive success of WAN.

None of this week's releases fill me with enthusiasm.

Is it a sign of me getting old or everyone's taste being shit that I find far more things that I like in the album chart these days?

ISTM if it is the best-selling single of the week, they'd have to make an exception, otherwise they'd look complete idiots for 'banning' it.

But the song would be charting on individual track downloads anyway, which realistically are going to account for the majority of the sales. It wouldn't be excluded entirely just because of one ineligible format. Franz Ferdinand weren't, for example. So at worst it might be a case of them losing out on one or two places in the chart (and even that's looking unlikely now).

At least it would be relatively simple - and more to the point, quick - for the label to withdraw this bundle and replace it with an eligible one if they want to, though of course sales so far would be "lost".

1. Rudimental - Waiting All Night (feat. Ella Eyre)

3. will.i.am - #thatPOWER (feat. Justin Bieber)

35. Viralites - Feel My Rhythm

36. Clean Bandit - Mozart's House

87. Jessie Ware - Imagine It Was Us

88. Mat Zo & Porter Robinson - Easy (Radio Edit)

95. Viralites - Feel My Rhythm (Club Mix)

It amazes me that the record labels don't read the rules

And as it was available for pre-order, someone must have told them. They could easily have dropped a track.

Will Rudimental make a dent on the album chart as well, then?

I'm 99% sure that Rudimental's EP sales will count towards the singles chart. It's nice to see Rudimental have this level of success but I would prefer it to be 'Not Giving In' to be in it's place. For me, this single is inferior to the previous two.

Yay at Rudimental already being #1 (with a decent lead as well, Duke down to 0.7922 so hopefully it can at least reach 2x him although will.i.am will likely stay above 0.5) :D Especially as it looks like will.i.am would indeed have been #1 with ease if he released last week. Justin Bieber making a start towards being the new Sash! with this being almost certainly now his second #2 without a #1 :P

Brilliant to see Clean Bandit in the top 40 also and like I said yesterday wasn't sure what to expect of Mat Zo/Porter so pretty positive that it's at least top 100 and with another version at #311, hopefully it can just scrape the top 40 then! It's nowhere near as good as 'Language' but another good tune, wasn't really expecting a follow-up from Porter to ever get any airplay or trouble the chart.

No idea what that Viralites thing is but it looks awful.

I don't think the OCC rules about single EPs being 'too long' have actually ever been put into practice, I'm pretty sure Rudimental's will still count. They'll be easily #1 even without it though so it'll be hard to tell.

862. Basement Jaxx - Back 2 the Wild

997. The Brand New Heavies - Sunlight

1078. Luke Sital-Singh - Bottled Up Tight

This song wont be in the top 40, i saw the music video for this last year and it's only really people who watch Channel U or Channel AKA as it's now known that will buy this.

These guys have been making videos for years from when they were about 13 or 14, if you haven't seen their older videos this is one of them, it's got Blizzard and an appearence from Tinie Tempah from before he was famous as well:

They play it on Radio 1Xtra as well, since that's where I heard the song. But at first they were playing a different version without Professor Green. The beat is so good though, it's like an improved version of Earthquake.

They also went touring with Kendrick Lamar, so some people might have heard it then I think.

If anyone is wondering what the Viralites track is... here it is

It sounds extremely similar to the ending of Light Up the Night by the Black Eyed Peas.

I remember Rudimental supported Plan B on tour a few months ago and the crowd was absolutely dead for them. They sounded horrible live and the songs just sounded really generic and repetitive. I'm very suprised they're on track for another #1.

Well this is a BLAST FROM THE PAST (not that 2013 hasn't given us enough of those already).

Never seen them live, but in an environment with a huge PA system, Feel the Love and Not Giving In at least sound so incredible imo.

Maybe that was for Plan B instead... :P
