There are tensions rife in Sandénia and Bignia-Zaragovina today between the two countries following the results of the latest BJSC, which took place last night.

Upon the publication of the semi-final results in full, it could be seen that the nation of Sandebörg beat Bignia-Zaragovina to 15th place and a spot in the final by one point. On further inspection, it was spotted that Sandénia awarded 12 points to Sandebörg and 10 points to Hendinia in the semi-final. However, these two innocent nations were switched when it came to the final votes. On realising that had Sandénia, a close ally of Bignia-Zaragovina, placed Hendinia in first place position in the first semi-final, Bignia-Zaragovina would've snatched a place in the final, the Bignian citizens began walking round Sandénia giving what can only be described as "death glares".

What makes the issue even worse is that had Bignia-Zaragovina qualified for the final, there would've been a 99.9% chance of them remaining ahead of Persephonia in the "countries of the year" statistics.

Kerry Washington, speaking on behalf of Bignia-Zaragovina, wishes that the conflict is resolved soon. "It hurts because our people voted in droves for Sandénia in both the semi-final and the final, helping our friends place 5th", Kerry says. "But we hope the issue won't last too long as TBO is just around the corner and part of the event is being held in Bignia-Zaragovina. We'd hate for this to hurt Sandénia with some mysterious technical glitch".

Queen Sandé has responded to negative press originating from Bignian sources. Speaking live from Bignia-Zaragovina, she pleaded to the country's residents and to those currently residing in her home country, Sandénia:

The conflict that has arisen so suddenly between both Sandénia and Bignia-Zaragovina, we can only hope, will be resolved in due course. Being in Bignia-Zaragovina myself at the moment, the prospect of receiving the so-called "death glares" is actually quite terrifying. As a respected nation and friend of ours, we can only hope that this does not continue any further and I encourage Bignia-Zaragovina to send more entries of the Oscar Zia kind in the near future as we head into 2014 with the Song Contest.

It is also said that Queen Sandé has been receiving death threats and abusive language has been directed at her account on Twitter. Sandénian authorities are working closely with Twitter itself in order to remove the tweets and ensure Queen Sandé comes to no harm.

King Zayn Malik, who currently holds the fort while Queen Sandé attends business in Bignia-Zaragovina has said that he is "doing everything in [his] power to ensure that nothing of this nature occurs again and that our partner nation can secure a higher amount of points from us in the future".

QUEEN SANDÉ REJECTS ASHTON

Queen Sandé has today announced plans to disband the current partnership with The Federal Republic of Ashton. The news comes after citizens of Ashton were found parading the streets of Sandénia this evening demonstrating:

- "no Hendinia qualifying, woo hoo"

- "keep hendinia out!!!!"

- "no guns, no population"

- "keep our guns, keep your laws"

As a result of those remarks that were painted onto large blocks of cardboard, Queen Sandé has concluded that the country would benefit from a lengthy period of time apart from the fellow nation. It is not established at this time whether the partnership will be rekindled at any point, although it seems unlikely. Queen Sandé also commented on the Ashton citizens who decided to insult Hendinia so freely in the streets of her country:

To be made aware that citizens of a partner country, Ashton, are using our land to demonstrate against a well-respected and well-loved nation of ours, Hendinia, is truly disgraceful. I no longer wish to associate myself with the country or any of its citizens and for the remarks made passports will no longer be accepted at air travel gateways and Ashton citizens will be strictly prohibited from entering. Ashton military bases will be demolished and will no longer stand in Sandénia. I am truly apologetic to Hendinia for all of the insults made by the citizens who were in Sandénia at the time, and I can only offer any compensation if they so wish.

It is also said that Ashton citizens rebuked the ban on guns in residencies in Sandénia, and Queen Sandé is said to be disgusted that people are "demonstrating for the right to hold a gun in a country where crime is of a low record". It is unknown at this point whether any Sandénian citizens were involved in any of this evening's demonstrations. More information will be detailed as reports come in, although it is not expected any Sandénian citizens would ridicule themselves like so.

Queen Sandé has also vowed to perform 'Maybe' when Ashton citizens are forced out of the country; putting great emphasis on the lyrics "maybe it's time to go". She also hopes that Hendinia are well and good. She also wishes to extend her apologies by arranging an official business trip to the country to meet officials to discuss any business propositions and to ensure that the country are not brought to any harm by Ashton citizens or any of their known authorities.

According to Federal Records (which are entirely accurate and know where every Ashtonise passport holder is at all times) there are 0 Ashtonise nationals, citizens or permanent residents within the borders of Sandénia. The GRd'Á would also like to point out that Ashton has exceedingly strict firearm laws and there is a rate of ownership of 0.0000001 firearms per million people within the Federal Republic. Only the military is armed while on duty. Some 68% of the Ashton Federal Police is unarmed.

Ashton shares a fairly open border with Hendinia with Hendinian nationals being allowed to obtain entry permits for up to 30days at the Federal Border, for free. Ashton takes no pride out of anyone not making the cut to TBO and was responsible for the TBO that allowed every nation to be represented at the semi final stage.

The Federal Government, the GRd'Á, would also like to point out that no Ashtonise nationals, citizens or permanent residents own, or have rented, properties in Sandénia. The Federal Government had been due to ratify the Partnership agreement through Federal Parliament next week ahead of the Christmas break following the legislative package being fully processed through the various committees, readings and votes as per Ashtonise Federal Procedure. As a result of this no Ashtonise nationals have had access to any 'perks' from the Sandénian government or been permitted to travel to Sandénia until the legislation had passed.
