October 12, 201410 yr I was generalising. Yes, but science fiction is based on science, and therefore that science has to be sound for continued suspension of disbelief rather than just pure disbelief! Whereas the concept of the Tardis is perfectly plausible of course,
October 12, 201410 yr I enjoyed the Orient show, Frank Skinner was a bonus, the Doctor needs a come-uppance moment to tone down the arrogance a bit, and Clara is the one to do it. re: science-fiction generally, most of it is really fantasy as it's not based on facts or extrapolated possible science (even my faves Star Trek and Star Wars defy the known-laws of the universe), which is fine as long as it has an internal logic and suspension of disbelief through a handy plot device or explanation. They could have got round all of the silliness of the moon plot with some script references, but didn't (they did after all try to get over the inconvenient normal-earth gravity on the moon with a throw-away line). One badly-plotted episode though, doesn't = they must all be rubbish though. That also goes against the laws of the universe....
October 12, 201410 yr You have to be an utter moron to take reviews as gospel and not endeavour to form your own opinion on something. Oh, wait.
October 14, 201410 yr Author This week's episode was probably the first that I genuinely enjoyed all the way through and felt like a proper throwback to old school (new) Doctor Who. The guest roles were very well acted and cast, the threat felt genuine and the resolution was realistic (with no sonic screwdrivers to be seen (working)!). I'd definitely place it as my favourite of the series thus far - I'm not sure where the others would rank but none of them gripped me as much as this episode did.

Doctor Who has a strong internal logic most of the time, so it works. I thought this weeks episode was another corker, funny, paced brilliantly, acted very well, genuinely tense/exciting story/mystery. Everything Who should be about really AND it managed to advance the story again. The last 4 episodes have all been varying shades of great in fact.
October 14, 201410 yr Not sure if nobody's picked up on this but it hasn't been mentioned that the Foretold is yet another example of a soldier in this series. There's a (fairly weak) argument that Lundvik could be classed as a soldier, in mission terms at least, in Kill The Moon. Edited October 14, 201410 yr by Severin
October 18, 201410 yr great episode tonight, a proper scary alien monster, a great switching of roles, and the mystery deepens re; the woman watching Clara and the Doctor...
October 18, 201410 yr I'm surprised no ones commented on tonight's episode yet!! I loved this episode, back to what Doctor Who does best it was a thrilling, exciting adventure and I was on the edge of my seat throughout!! Please can Moffatt let Jamie Mathieson (hope I've spelt that right) write for the show more often! And again, great acting from Peter and Jenna Again only slight niggle was the ending, it did feel slightly rushed but the pace was excellent and that little addition at the end of the episode :) I'm intrigued!! Next weeks isn't looking that great! I can tell its another Moffatt episode as Danny is back in it but hope its good as I think the series has really picked up in the last 2/3 episodes I'm giving tonight's episode 9.5/10!
October 18, 201410 yr Yes, it was another great episode tonight. I'm really enjoying this series so far.
October 18, 201410 yr Wow... that was like a Classic Who episode especially when the hand picked that guy just made me jumped as I didn't see that coming, it was the best of the series. I've been really impressed with Peter Capaldi as the new Dr. now, he seems more settled in his role, and the series has got more stronger week on week. Next week's episode looks exceptionally good from the trailer. Also watching X Factor when the Dr. Who is on, so I'm watching it later as I'm recorded it every week.
October 18, 201410 yr I didn't think Mummy... could be topped but wow, that was possibly the best episode I've seen since series 4, brilliant villain and a real sense of suspense and horror that I haven't seen in a long time, I genuinely wasn't sure how they'd get out of it and it was great that the Doctor really was completely stumped and Clara had to save the day, just brilliant. Next weeks looks...bad, I will admit but it's the final straight after that soo
October 18, 201410 yr Thought it was good but not amazing. Didn't think they made the most of the concept at all (plus wasn't it just a not as good rehash of Silence in the Library really?) Plus did it all really get solved by a sonic screwdriver moment? AGAIN? Don't write stories that you haven't got a proper ending for.

Plus did it all really get solved by a sonic screwdriver moment? AGAIN? Don't write stories that you haven't got a proper ending for. I don't think that was really the climax - the solution was Clara figuring out how to embiggen (a perfectly cromulent word) the TARDIS again which I thought was a very simple but effective storytelling moment. very impressed with this series and best episode yet I think, love Jenna taking the lead AND their relationship seeming to heal a little too. would agree a little on the concept - bit disappointed they gave in and realised the threat in 3D people, albeit distorted ones, as the terror was in the 2D. but a minor niggle.
October 19, 201410 yr Next weeks isn't looking that great! I can tell its another Moffatt episode as Danny is back in it but hope its good as I think the series has really picked up in the last 2/3 episodes Except it's not another Moffat episode, it's written by Frank Cottrell Boyce. All I have to say about that episode is that it was flawless from start to finish. By FAR my favourite of the series so far. Too many things to say. 1. Flatline 2. Kill the Moon 3. Mummy on the Orient Express 4. Time Heist 5. The Caretaker 6. Listen 7. Deep Breath 8. Robot of Sherwood 9. Into the Dalek

October 24, 201410 yr Author That was another great episode. Clara was a very strong, bold leader for a change, I liked that she finally solved what to do before the Doctor and their relationship was great. I'm not looking forward to Missy, it feels like we've seen far too much of her (and I'll be very disappointed if she 'claims' Clara at some point :(). I thought the A113 Easter-egg was a very nice inclusion too!
October 25, 201410 yr Really enjoyed that. Seriously excited for next week. Bar the first two episodes this has been an amazing series.
