January 19, 201411 yr Commonwealths are in 6 months time and usually have a song attached to them (see Delta Goodrem's Together We Are One)
January 19, 201411 yr I'd rather Bonnie Tyler represent us EVERY year until she pops in than Jessie J do it ONCE! Awful, odious woman even if she'd give us the best chance of winning since forever. Edited January 19, 201411 yr by ScottyEm
January 20, 201411 yr Jessie J could write a pretty good pop song if shes on form... id rather her not perform it but if it means getting a decent song for once then fair enough! I hope this year the bbc will find a jade ewen style strong singer and get them to sing 4 amazing songs and then we pick the best one... then we send them to eurovision where they sing a great song in tune - look great AND dance. asking for too much?
January 25, 201411 yr The sun newspaper reported today that the BBC has informed them that they are working with music professionals to obtain an artist for eurovision this year - so that means no public vote or the voice winner :( - but it is the sun so we can't be 100% sure they aren't making it up! They are also stating that the BBC want geri halliwell more than anybody else because she will bring 'camp' to the eurovision... terrible decision if true! The bbc need to see it as a song contest! It seems the BBCs mind is working like this: 2012 - Engelbert Humperdinck - Huge 60s/70s star 2013 - Bonnie Tyler - Huge 80s star 2014 - Geri Halliwell ? - Huge 90s star 2015 - a huge 00s star? 2016 - somebody relevant? & the uk finally does well!

Top 5 is possible with the right song choice. 2015 - Dido for top 3. :cheer: 2016 - British participant Heidi Range would win in ESC :yahoo:
January 25, 201411 yr One would quite successfully argue the last time Heidi was relevant was with About You Now...
January 26, 201411 yr A Spice Girl in Eurovision though? Planet Gay would explode with that much gayness!
January 26, 201411 yr Heidi Range is not relevant now, never mind in 2 years time! But she could be the relevant artist in 2016. :)
January 26, 201411 yr I'd kind of totally be on board with Geruvision, even if the reasons for her being selected would be all the wrong ones.
January 26, 201411 yr But she could be the relevant artist in 2016. :) http://cs418626.vk.me/v418626363/971a/zI4SWfdrceU.jpg
January 28, 201411 yr God, Geri Halliwell would bomb. Please no.You say this as if we're not used to bombing
January 28, 201411 yr You say this as if we're not used to bombing  There's bombing and there's "2 points from Malta and nothing from everyone else"-type bombing that I envisage if Geri Halliwell is our entry.
January 28, 201411 yr It really depends on how much of a show she puts on. If it's memorable at least I'd wager we'd probably do better than we have done since Blue, for the simple reason that nice as Engelbert and Bonnie's songs were, who on earth would pick up the phone for them? If we have Geru strutting out from a disco vagina (or somesuch) and putting on a show then at least people would probably remember us by the end of the night. Being utterly unremarkable AND mostly pretty poor for the bargain has been the UK's biggest problem since 2000. Although yes, we could totally do better. I'd take another Ride It if we did have to Geru up though.
January 28, 201411 yr I'm pretty sure 'you'll remember it at least" was the thinking behind SCOOCH, no?
