Sorry about the hold up we have been discussing what to do with the chart show thread its going up as normal, as we don't know what is happening with the top 40 rundown at Radio 1 as they are hosting a Radio 1 Big Weekend at Derry, or even a top 10 from 6pm, thread topic as usual, hopefully we get some chart info at some point.

In the meantime, please do not post any spoilers, or else I set Bre on you :P

t.A.T.u.'s "Not Gonna Get Us"  So underrated at the time, but I can tell why it was polarising.

Edited by Ne Plus Ultra

And why Duffy never released "Distant Dreamer" immediately after "Warwick Avenue", I'll never understand. That would have been a perfect hat trick of brilliant singles from her, I feel.

Retro faves!

La, La, La will be No.1 today, I think it shouldn't be though.

Next week will be tough to decide.

My retro comments;

2012

9- SOMEBODY THAT I USED TO KNOW- Gotye Ft Kimbra (29.100)*

2008

1- TAKE A BOW- Rihanna (41,005) Lovely song, glad that both this and Ting Ting's got a #1 out of being released the same week

2- THAT’S NOT MY NAME- Ting Ting’s (37,621)

3- 4 MINUTES- Madonna Ft Justin Timberlake (23,400)*

5- BLACK & GOLD- Sam Sparro (18,700)*

6- WEARING MY ROLEX- Wiley (18,200)*

7- WARWICK AVENUE- Duffy (15,300)*

9- CRY FOR YOU- September (13,200)*

10- VIOLET HILL- Coldplay (12,600)* One of my favourite Coldplay singles, shame it was given away free and never did that much

2003

1- IGNITION (REMIX)- R Kelly (67,000)

2- ROCK YOUR BODY- Justin Timberlake (38,000)

5- NO GOOD ADVICE- Girls Aloud (19,000)*

7- NOT GONNA GET US- t.A.T.u (15,000) Equally as good as All The Things She Said for me

8- BROKEN BONES- Love Inc (15,000) Who thought they'd get a second top ten!? This was brilliant!

9- LONELINESS- Tomcraft (13,000)*

1998

1- FEEL IT- Tamperer Featuring Maya (49,500) I never liked this, less than 50k seems very low for 1998!

3- STRANDED- Lutricia McNeal (38,000) Such a great song, glad it went top three! Takes me back every time I hear it!

6- LAST THING ON MY MIND- Steps (31,000)*

7- TURN BACK TIME- Aqua (29,000)*

8- DREAMS- The Corrs (27,000)*

9- HOW DO I LIVE- LeAnn Rimes (26,000)*

10- LIFE AIN’T EASY- Cleopatra (25,000)* This is hugely underrated, was by far their best single imo, very Cheiron-esque (i.e. early Britney, BSB, Robyn sound)

Oddly strong top ten for 2003, 1998 has some solid classics in there as ever!

What a shambles. Just turned on for the Top 40 and get Scott & Jamelia, but not even a mention of the Top 40 and just rabbiting on about this "Big Weekend". I guess this shows just how much (little?) Radio 1 thinks of the chart these days

There's never a proper chart show on the Big Weekend. I don't think it says anything about what they 'think' of the charts.

At least in the last couple of weeks they've played the top 10 (in fact it was mentioned on the schedule) but this year not a word about it :(

Well no, they've organised this massive event with lots of big name artists so of course they're going to want to broadcast this to their listeners. 3 hours of something that has nothing to do with this event is too much while there are lots of artists performing at the same time. If the chart show was on in the morning, I would see no reason as to why it shouldn't be broadcast in full but it occurs at the same time as people performing.

Well if not, there's always the UK Chart Company's website. I'll be checking that just in case.

There is actually:

"Scott and Jameela continue the coverage from Radio 1's Big Weekend - the day's highlights include Jake Bugg, Olly Murs and The Script. Plus the latest Official Chart news!"

I think they probably are going to do the top 10 from 6 to 7 as usual.

Oh I must have missed that, but still less info than the previous years :(

The chart should be the centrepiece of their schedule. These live sets could be played at any time.

Just listening to Jake Bugg's first song, how bad is he live compared to his record?
