Oh and just for clarification's sake:

If you meet two of the criteria under the Serious/Red category you pick up 24 points. The points in brackets are points per condition in the category met. If that category is related to one in the category above, only the points from the highest category counts so you are not double penalised. Think of it like consequential marking for exams.

For example.....Two Minor/Yellow? That's 6 points! Two yellow, an orange and double red? 37! 4 yellow, 5 orange (3 are related to 3 of the yellow flags) and 4 red (2 are related to orange flags)??? Simples! You would score 72 points! You would get 4 12's from the red flags; 3 7's from the orange flags that aren't related to a red flag and 1 3points for the yellow flag unrelated to an orange flag.

I'm actually surprised by how lenient some of this appears to be - 75 replies seems like quite a lot to me. But I guess something like that is bound to fall into other sections too.

Aiming for 0 with my upcoming entry.

I wonder what would be the highest scoring song possible under this system :P

I don't know if I'm misinterpreting this (I probably am!) but is this suggesting that sending any female artist automatically is a serious veto issue or just a female artist that is associated with an artist forum? If it is actually the former then I don't agree with this point at all, but I do think I misinterpreting it and you are referring to the latter! :kink:

Apart from this, it's absolutely great and really helps us all know what you are looking for! :D

COMMA MISUSE. There should be one after 'associated act'.

Have yous checked that past obvious vetoes have all passed the 16 point threshold?

Have yous checked that past obvious vetoes have all passed the 16 point threshold?

I've checked it against a few.

Molly Sandén - Why Am I Crying would have scored 61points according to my quick calculation and Tone Damli feat Eric Saade - Imagine would have acquired 59 points. Nause - Hungry Hearts would have triggered a black flag and Carrie Underwood - Good Girl would have landed 45 points and that was a less 'obvious' veto.

No-one tried entering 'Why Am I Crying?' if I remember correctly, it was just 'Spread A Little Light'. I wonder how many points that would have got.

That's the one I was basing the score on, I just muddle the names up between reading it off the list and typing it in the thread. It's been one of those days  :(

The only thing I was thinking reading this is... how much TIME will it take!!

I can't imagine it'd take that much longer than usual but we'll see when we give it a bash this month.

Well I'm now officially unemployed so I have all the time in the world. Woo!

Cry. What happened?

I finished uni and have decided not to go back to both of my summer jobs because I need to stay in Dublin for the opputunités. There's literally ZILCH to apply for in the field I'm qualified/interested in so I'm going to have to try find an alternative. Terrifying. </3

I like the framework a lot and it's great to have a set of rules but could I have a 'for instance' example explained. So for example, if somebody attempted to enter the new Frida Gold single, it would instantly go into the 'serious/red' category because it falls foul of the bolded rules;

Has significant BJSC Personal Chart presence//The song is in the Multichart during the week/s in which the confirmation process is open.

The song is a fresh leak or forthcoming single by an artist with a significant following on Buzzjack.

The song has received substantial radio, internet and/or TV exposure.

The song is on a current Radio 1 playlist (any playlist published just prior to or during the confirmation period)

The artist/song is currently or has recently (within the last 12 months) been in the UK Top 40 Singles Chart.

Has a review on one or more of the trifecta (Scandipop/Popjustice/Pitchfork) with Hyperbole set to 11.

Artist has multiple top10's, or a top5 finish to their name

Song has very recently finished top5 in UP

Song has more than 75 replies in a genre forum thread

The song is by a FEMALE artist, or associated act with an Artist Forum on Buzzjack.

The song has gone top5, within the past 6 months, in one of the following nations: Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, France & Germany

Song is in the Hot 100 currently

More than 5 people attempted to enter the song.

So with this in mind, is that 24 points scored, 12 for each rule it falls foul of? So am I right in saying it would come in just under the veto threshold unless it later breached another of these factors, so could technically be sent? Will the mods be able to bump a song up past the threshold if they still feel it's not in the spirit of the contest, even if it 'only' scores 24 points? Sending a former winner with a single that's gone to #1 in Sweden for example would seem a bit cheap to me, even if it didn't breach any of the other rules in this category.

Yeah, this is where it all gets a bit blurry and difficult. It's 12 points per condition breached. 24 is definite borderline and seeing as FG almost won (still bitter) and it samples a pretty well-known 90s stomper we would probably veto it. Someone can still confirm if they want because it's not an obvious veto and we can look into it properly!

The 25 points is required for a straight veto, but everything that gains 16 or more points will be discussed to see if they should be vetoed. We're basically saying that if you get 25 points you will, for sure, be vetoed but if you get 16-24 you may not be, it just depends on what flags you raised. Raising 2 red flags is pretty much a sure fire veto and I can't see Frida Gold not being on Scandipop (3VP) which would give her 27 and tip her into the veto box anyway.
Oh you guys. :D I shall try to find loopholes in this and embarrass yall but only when I get back to Russia bye

Well embarrassing YOURSELF seems to be a trait you've acquired so I look forward to it bye

(have fun in lundun xoxo)

They're a German band, so Scandipop won't feature them! But I can see what you mean, I think there'll be lots more vetos coming our way in the next few months, hopefully it will encourage people to find more inspiring entries rather than whinging when they get 27 points or whatever and their entry is vetoed. You can't argue against a framework, in fact people can check their desired entries against it before confirming! Why waste the energy of confirming if it's obviously going to get 25 points or more!

I've tested my own entry against the framework, using all of them, and I get 7pts. It's about 7/8 months old, so I doubt it's much danger.
