69. Caro Emerald - Liquid Lunch :D

Good to see Jools helping artists more and more now. He did the same with Stereophonics earlier this year. Any impact for Disclosure? They played Latch didn't they?

Even Union J is better than that Robin Thicke shite.

The top four of La La La, Blurred Lines, Get Lucky and Let Her Go are all so terrible :(.

apart from Get Lucky which isn't great but it's at least a catchy track, spot on

Let Her Go sounds like a MOR song sung by a kid :D and what the hell is Blurred Lines supposed to be? sounds like some sort of country bumpkin rap. Is it really selling well because Pharrell is involved in it? or is there some sort of ITunes offer where the unrated video is made available to the buyer? Amazing to think that can sell about 300k-ish in 2 weeks when it's completely dire

Some similar but not quite identical ones from the pre-iTunes days:

A group somewhat cheekily called the Freeloaders (definition: "someone who benefits from resources, goods, or services without paying for the cost of the benefit"!) took the original sample and released their own version in 2005, peaking at #9.

I remember hearing this song on top of the pops when i was in year 9. I'm glad it got into the top 10 but i wonder which songs charted above it that week?

 1499. Tulisa - Young

If you believe the press then apparently she'll be able to sort out a couple lines for you

That was 'Star To Fall' by Cabin Crew And 'Falling Stars' by Sunset Strippers which were basically the same song but didn't they chart one week after the other in the Top 10?

There was another song around that time called "In My Arms" by Mylo that sampled both of those songs as well.

2 Crazy Frog related songs were in the top 40 at the same time as well in 2005, Axel F by Crazy Frog and Ring Ding Ding by Pondlife. Another Crazy Frog related song Ring Ding Ding by L.O.C didnt make it to the top 40 and is where Sean Paul got his sample from for Temperature.

was made around 2002-3 but never released here. A group somewhat cheekily called the Freeloaders (definition: "someone who benefits from resources, goods, or services without paying for the cost of the benefit"!) took the original sample and released their own version in 2005, peaking at #9.

Bob Sinclar - Gym Tonic, huge in Ibiza over the summer of 1998 but used an unlicensed Jane Fonda sample that couldn't be cleared. Some DJs from the UK re-recorded it, called it 'Gym & Tonic' and a #1 hit out of nowhere ensued later that year. Spacedust - Gym & Tonic

Rather cruelly, both those originals were co-produced by Thomas Bangalter, meaning he's had at least two songs nicked (presumably) without his permission to become top 10 hits. Given he's half of Daft Punk though I doubt he particularly minds :P

Wow. It sounds harsh in those cases, but really it's all legal. They only need to ask permission from the owners of the original, they don't need to get permission from other people who've used the sample. Like more recently with Levels and Good Feeling, Good Feeling samples Etta James, so they wouldn't have needed to ask Avicii for permission to release the song, even though it was based on his song.

There was the famous sample war with J-Lo and Mariah Carey too over I'm Real.

Freak Like Me by the Sugababes was similar I think. It was originally a mash-up of two songs that got popular on the Internet, but the guy who originally did the mash-up couldn't get the rights to it, so the Sugababes released it.

Also, In My Arms by Mylo sampled the same song that the other two "star falling" songs sampled. And Doctor Pressure by Mylo is also a remake of a mash-up of two songs done by another person I believe.

Ouch, I wonder where Union J will end up this week. #07 on iTunes now.

06. Fuse Odg - Antenna 29.5%

07. Olly Murs - Dear Darlin 29.3%

08. Union J - Carry You 26%

Oh

135. Jason Derulo - The Other Side :cheer:

187. The Wanted - Walks Like Rihanna [Guaranteed #01]

190. Dizzee Rascal Feat Robbie Williams - Goin Crazy

C'mon Olly! Get higher.

Also, brilliant to see Jason so high on pre-orders too :D

He should speak to Tulisa, she can apparently help with that...

Morning update: http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?s...t&p=4345716

59p songs in the top 100:

 26 Kodaline - Love Like This

 29 John Legend - Ordinary People

 30 The Script - The Man Who Can't Be Moved

 35 Beyoncé - Halo

:ne: 43 Jason Mraz - I'm Yours

:ne: 49 Will Smith - Summertime

 52 Van Morrison - Brown Eyed Girl

:ne: 63 Daft Punk - One More Time

 64 Jay-Z - 99 Problems

:ne: 73 Pras - Ghetto Supastar (That Is What You Are)

 79 Daniel Merriweather - Red

:ne: 82 Sam And The Womp - Bom Bom

:ne: 85 T.I. feat. Rihanna - Live Your Life

:ne: 86 Muse - Uprising

:ne: 91 The Script - Millionaires

Happy to see Daft Punk's One More Time reduced to 59p. Shame it didn't happen a few weeks ago, it would of become a big hit again.
50 & 94. Don't know where it was earlier though so can't judge the impact

Disclosure could have 3 songs top 40 on Sunday then - Latch, White Noise & You and Me!!

Union J will miss the top 5 for sure now, looks like a number 8 debut and a career to match Girl Thing, remember last one standing, all hyped up by Simon Cowell if i remember correctly, hotly tipped to do well and made a number 8 debut.

I think they'll debut on or around #5 (or maybe #4 if they're very lucky), can't see how they'd fall all the way down to #8 officially.

Its dropping in all the updates and i can see it leaving the top 10 soon, even if it debuts at number 5 the signs of a big drop next week are happening which is not a strong start for them and we know how Syco work.

I do agree the chart run will be pretty shambolic regardless of what number it debuts at, I did expect better (although I'm certainly not bothered).

Maybe they'll have to rely on the next single with an X-Factor performance, although that's no guarantee it'll do the trick either.

Sara COx playing new AlunaGeorge - You know you like it. Is this the bside to Your Drums, Your Love that was rising on itunes a few weeks back?

It was the track that climbed a few weeks ago but I don't think it was a B-Side to YDYL. It was in fact their first 'proper' release all the way 2 years ago, way before YDYL. The EP that it is from is brilliant!
