We've got some well on the way already, but how many songs in the year end charts will have over a million sales during the year? I'm talking songs that have and have not been released yet.

Get lucky is pretty much a cert, let her go could make it if it gets raped on the x factor aswell. Blurred lines could make it and so could icona pop. Will all these do it, and will there be any more surprises. Who knows whats in storw in this incredible year of sales

Let Her Go will do it but maybe not this year. Get Lucky will do it within 6 weeks.
Get Lucky, as you said, is certain. There will probably be some massive seller late this year. Blurred Lines could do it. I could see La La La doing it sometime, but maybe not this year. Let Her Go as well, maybe.

'Get Lucky', obviously.

I think 'Let Her Go' has a very high chance.

'Blurred Lines' is harder to call....it could hang around for a long time, but equally I could see it being the type of song that gets stale within a few weeks and tails off quite quickly.

Icona Pop won't do it, no song that's been held back for so long ever gets a massive total.

I put 2 for now. Daft Punk is a definite, and maybe Blurred Lines if it's sales don't slow down too much. Naughty Boy may also become a million seller too.

By the end of the year, Get Lucky (obviously), Let Her Go, Blurred Lines + the big X Factor/charity hit of the year. So I say 4

In the future, some songs we don't know about yet that will get released later in the year, and possibly Just Give Me A Reason if radio continues to rape it and it has boosts from BGT and The Voice (and of course this year's X Factor but I don't think it'll make the million this year)

I don't actually think Let Her Go will make it, at least not any time soon. Its sales are starting to fall already and it might stick around for a while but has sold less than 400k so far so it seems a bit unlikely. Get Lucky will obviously do it and I think Blurred Lines might as well after this amazing start, as it doesn't even seem to be dropping much on iTunes yet. Same with La La La, that too has a (small) chance. I don't think anything else this year will do it, though Just Give Me A Reason might sometime next year. As for releases later in the year, it doesn't happen that often that a release in the second half of the year sells a million before the year end, but I have a feeling something could do it. I voted 3.
I don't think Naughty Boy will do it, at least not this year. It reminds me of the success of Labrinth's 2 big singles, so I think it'll sell no more than 850k

I've voted 3. Daft Punk is going to be a million seller. That leaves two more potential million sellers. 'Blurred Lines' could be heading that way but it does depend on how fast the sales decrease week-on-week. According to Kworb, it's lead has extended again to almost double that of 'La La La' (I don't see Naughty Boy's track becoming a million seller anytime soon).

Passenger could well get there if its sales remain consistant whilst it's still comfortably inside the UK top 10. As others have said, it'll probably get its millionth sale in the first week of 2014 with the iTunes gift card effect, or something like that.

'I Love It' probably lost its chance by holding it back 3/4 months from its original UK release date. Could've been on 300k by now and well on its way to a million seller. Wouldn't be at all surprised if Icona Pop end up doing a Rita Ora/Sak Noel (#1 after being held back for months, but nobody buys the song because they're bored of it/illegally downloaded it months ago...and are bored of it).

Which leaves a third, and who knows what's around the corner.

Get Lucky and Blurred Lines will make it this year. Thrift Shop and Just Give Me A Reason will make it eventually. Mirrors and Let Her Go will just miss out.

I voted two. Get Lucky and probably something else will manage it.

You have to bear in mind though, once we get too late in the year the only thing that has a chance is the X Factor winners single (and I don't think this year's will be as big as last year's). For example last year Gangnam Style was absolutely massive, but it didn't make 1 million in the year because it got popular too late, and songs like Call Me Maybe and Somebody That I Used to Know were lucky to be hits at the beginning of the year, they probably would've missed out if they only started getting popular late summer.

Infact, thinking about it, blurred lines is a cert aswell. For a song thats sold 190k in its first week its amazing how many people haven't heard it or don't know the name of the song

Indeed.

I always think of 'Moves Like Jagger' it was released at the end of August and didn't quite make the million by the end of the year. So realistically speaking you're talking anything beyond September probably wouldn't make it unless we had another 'Get Lucky' type monster hit.

I voted 3, those two and A N Other yet to be released.

Moves Like Jagger DID make the million within the year just in the nick of time. That was what was so impressive at the time. It was Party Rock Anthem the passed the million a week after the year ended.

Ah right, OK.

Perhaps I was getting confused between the two tracks.

I think Moves Like Jagger is the 2nd(?) best-selling digital song ever, so if even that could only just about make it when released in August, the average "lesser" million-seller wouldn't stand a chance in that short a period of time.

Mirrors has sold 606,200. It needs to do 393,800 by the end of the year. Are there 30 weeks left?

That's 13,126.67 per week for the rest of the year.

I think we could end up with 5+ million sellers.

"Get Lucky" and "Blurred Lines" are almost certain. "La La La" may have a chance to do it this year and "I Love It" could surprise us. Not to mention "Mirrors"/"Just Give Me A Reason"/"Thrift Shop" could scrape past a million at the end of the year. Especially if either are used on the X-factor later this year or discounted at some point. Oh, also I can see Passenger's "Let Her Go" passing the million this year too. I expect is to get a lot of use on the X-factor. Thinking about it, there is a lot of potential for million sellers this year and there are still songs we haven't heard yet which could become one. The X-factor winners single/a charity single may also pass the million later on this year.

Absolutely no chance of making it.

It's currently at no.33 and this week's no.29 sold 11.3k.
