I doubt the vast majority of casual buyers know about release dates.

Same here. Hoping that it can make 5 consecutive weeks at no.1, a feat that has proved so elusive in recent years.

The Wanted are still probably miles off #1 you know... Robin Thicke was selling nearly 2x Naughty Boy still at the time of their release.

Well imo both are poor, but WLR is embarrassing unlike SWY.

#16 Icona Pop, could have been higher by now, if the fakes were not around, previously.

The Wanted will probably do what they always do.. reach number 1 today and by Wednesday be out the top 2

 

The Wanted have actually never done that before. All Time Low was still #1 on iTunes on the Wednesday, Chasing the Sun was top 2 the entire week, Glad You Came was #1 on iTunes for almost 2 entire weeks, Gold Forever climbed to #1 on iTunes a week after release (when the charity show it was being used for aired on TV I think), and the rest of their songs didn't get to #1 on iTunes.

I haven't been iLooning about a song since Jason last week for ages. I love how the two new releases that I'm looning over are dance-pop tracks when I was one to never be on board with the dance-pop era from 2009-now. :lol:

Icona Pop are doing fantasically, it would've been quite unrealistic to expect them to definitely be top 10 already and they are now really close anyway! I don't believe the tribute versions will be having any effect, 'Payphone' did fantastically well despite its tribute version reaching #3!

Not everyone thought so and even then, to be #13 already is fantastic and several other iTunes #1s climbed a lot slower than this!

It wasn't my favourite chart trend either, but there's still loads of songs from it that I loved like Smack That, The Fear, Dance Wiv Me, Maneater, The Way I Are, The Time, Like a G6, Number 1, all of Roll Deep's songs, In For the Kill, Right Round, Bonkers, Hot N Cold, Gimme More, American Boy, etc. And there's some like Firework and Only Girl which I loved when they first came out but I got bored of them quite fast.

I understand why it's popular since it's basically the only female dance-pop song that had a chance to be really huge in the past 6 months lol. Unless everybody on Buzzjack gets into R&B and starts stanning for Justin Timberlake and Robin Thicke. :lol:

I will find it interesting to know exactly how many copies of 'I Love It' by Remix Junkies and also by Remix Chix were downloaded (especially as i *think* both versions reached the Top 20 on iTunes before being deleted) and see how many sales the Icona Pop version have 'lost' with the release date not being brought forward sooner due to the popularity of the fake versions.

 

Hopefully the sales from Remix Junkies and Remix Chix (plus the other fake versions and also the Glee version) will get a mention in the MW report when it gets released.
