June 30, 201312 yr she was FIFTEEN when she sang that song???? oh my good lord! talent beyond her years~ Given it was written by Mylene Farmer I'm not sure we can count her talent in!
June 30, 201312 yr she was FIFTEEN when she sang that song???? oh my good lord! talent beyond her years~ She was older than Vanessa Paradis who was 14 when "Joe Le Taxi" hit #3 in 1988.
June 30, 201312 yr Ooh also, Miley Cyrus was 14 when 'Best of Both Worlds' charted here I believe. :P
June 30, 201312 yr Connie Talbot from BGT also had a top 40 ALBUM here when she was like 6 or 7. :P But no singles charted.
June 30, 201312 yr Willow is obviously more memorable but her brother Jaden Smith has also already had a top 40 hit - I make him out to be 12 when 'Never Say Never' (Justin Bieber feat. Jaden Smith) charted at #34.
June 30, 201312 yr Author Also, JoJo was only 13 when "Leave (Get Out)" charted at #2 in 2004. I loved that song at the time! She had potential but then when she started flopping I lost interest in her. Considering she must be about 22 now she could have a comeback actually (a massive 'could' as there's about 0.1% chance of her ever having another T40 hit)
June 30, 201312 yr Barring the Teletubbies sun, I'm pretty sure Sean Kingston was the first person to be number 1 who was born after me. Always quite an odd moment when that happens, and now it's about half the chart  JoJo would have done it three years earlier if Leave (Get Out) had charted a place higher!
June 30, 201312 yr I'm not sure but I suspect Jimmy Osmond was the first person to be number one who was born after me :nocheer:
June 30, 201312 yr I'm not sure but I suspect Jimmy Osmond was the first person to be number one who was born after me :nocheer: Still thankfully awaiting someone born after me to hit #1 thanks to 'The Time (Dirty Bit)'.
June 30, 201312 yr I'm 23 and I don't even want to count all these guys younger than me who are younger than me in the charts! My life is a waste. Edited June 30, 201312 yr by Salt Without GMO
June 30, 201312 yr How many younger singers have charted with a self-penned song? 2/3 of Hanson, who were 13 & 11 when the self-penned Mmmbop was released.
June 30, 201312 yr Given it was written by Mylene Farmer I'm not sure we can count her talent in! Moi Lolita  It's up there with the best songs Myléne released herself and that's not an easy feat. Surely one of the only non-dance foreign language tracks to go top 10, but that's another matter!
June 30, 201312 yr Still thankfully awaiting someone born after me to hit #1 thanks to 'The Time (Dirty Bit)'. Your time will come. Probably not with Gabz but it will happen soon enough. At least you didn't have the indignity of it happening shortly after you turned twelve :(
June 30, 201312 yr 2/3 of Hanson, who were 13 & 11 when the self-penned Mmmbop was released. Did they contribute anything more than the word Mmmbop?
June 30, 201312 yr Aaron Carter. :manson: I remember cringing at seeing a 9 year old Aaron on something like Live & Kicking and there were 16/17 year old girls outside screaming going "OMG, I LOVE YOU AARON". It really was wrong on every level possible.
June 30, 201312 yr Did they contribute anything more than the word Mmmbop? The three of them all share sole writing credit for the song, although much of the credit for the success of the song goes to The Dust Brothers, as it was their upbeat remix of the song that catapulted it up the chart. Much to the shame of The Dust Brothers, I imagine. They're responsible for producing the most innovative and interesting works of both Beastie Boys and Beck, yet their biggest selling track they've been involved with by far is a throwaway bubblegum pop song. *Edit* I might have misinterpreted your original post. In answer - it wouldn't surprise me.
Can you imagine what the Daily Mail would have had to say if it was 16/17-year-old boys declaring their love for a nine-year-old girl?
June 30, 201312 yr Can you imagine what the Daily Mail would have had to say if it was 16/17-year-old boys declaring their love for a nine-year-old girl? !!!! It's the same as with gays/lesbians. The common attitude is much worse to gays than to lesbians. Oh wait, now I'm imagining how 16-17 y.o. boys are hunting for, i.e. Willow :D
