July 14, 201311 yr Gentleman - EP #47 Cambodia #162 Vietnam #386 Philippines, Do these countries have official charts....
July 14, 201311 yr ^ Like Silver Rocket wrote, it's actually at #33! #30 is its midweek. This is their worst second week position ever for a pre-album release. Top 40 chart runs Second week position in blue. Pre-album releases: 01-03-04-08-13-18-23-27-39-36 [What About Us] 02-03-04-14-20-27-39 [Just Can't Get Enough] 03-05-15-21-22-31 [All Fired Up] 05-06-07-13-18-22-26-29-35-xx-35-29-32-33-32-37-37-27-40-36 [up] 03-07-11-16-26-24-33 [Missing You] 02-08-14-23-37-39 [Forever Is Over] 08-13-19-25-36 [if This Is Love] 07-17-30 [30 Days] 08-21-33-26-21-18-21-28-31 [Notorious] 15-28 [My Heart Takes Over] 14-33 [Gentleman] Post-album releases: 36-27-06-04-05-09-12-16-26-27-32-35-39 [issues] 35-30-20-17-09-14-11-13-19-24-26-34-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-36 [Ego] 22-25-24-22-25-22-10-15-20-20-31-35-xx-xx-35 [Higher] 38-31-29-22-35-37-36 [Work] It's now dawned on me just how many pre-album singles there have been! I'd really like them to do an album where there are at least one or two singles released after the album is out. However, I'm starting to get the feeling that this forthcoming album will play out exactly like 'On Your Radar', with no singles released after the album is out. I hope this isn't the case though.
July 14, 201311 yr My bad, i shouldn't have referred the mobile version of radio1 chart site. I think they would have 'Lease my love' as pre album single, and a ballad, post album. Btw is lease my love considered a ballad.
July 14, 201311 yr Issues, Ego, Higher - three songs that lasted for ages in the charts, sold a great amount and done well on airplay/TV. If This Is Love, Forever Is Over, Missing You, Notorious, 30 Days, Gentleman, All Fired Up (even though it sold a decent amount eventually) - pre album singles that plummeted out of the charts. I just don't understand why they keep releasing singles before their albums. They've shown before that they can rely on post-album singles being successful and yet they throw out single after single that just never seems to do anything besides What About Us (which I'm surprised it done so well considering it was held back for months).
July 14, 201311 yr But then they drew out the WAU campaign and scored their first number 1, rushed the Gentleman campaign and it missed the top 10, so I'm really hoping for single 3/4 they start promoting earlier than they did for Gentleman.
July 14, 201311 yr So this is pretty much their worst performing single ever then? And a pre-album release too... owch!
July 14, 201311 yr It's probably about equal with 'My Heart Takes Over', though this may have sold more.

Well, 'If This Is Love, 'Forever Is Over' and 'Missing You' were all 'lead' singles so in that sense, it's absolutely right that they were released before the album? I guess we've all got our opinions on who to blame, but I personally think it's their management. They make the most ridiculous choices. 'On Your Radar' was a complete mess and this could be shaping up to be too. I'm glad they didn't decide to release the album off the back of 'Gentleman' or else they'd be really screwed! I hope they realise they've made a terrible mistake, scrap any songs on the album that in any way resemble 'Gentleman' and stick to the dance pop. Just think of the 'high' The Saturdays could be on right now if they'd have released another track in the same vein as 'What About Us'. It makes me so mad!
July 14, 201311 yr I'm not surprised its bombed, the song is piss poor, especially compared to the fantastic What About Us. Such a let down
July 14, 201311 yr #41 on iTunes and there's a fake version of Avicii and two versions of Daft Punk ahead of them. They might manage three weeks top 40 but probably won't. Either way I STILL think that the "spit it" section of the song completely kills the momentum that Vanessa/Mollie builds on the chorus. Mollie's "so hard for a girl to find" is so fierce and then everything just slows down and Rochelle/Frankie's lines drag on and are so lifeless that it makes the whole chorus sound forgettable. And are they really not releasing this anywhere else? Fair enough it flopped here and Ireland but it could at least go top 100 again in Germany/New Zealand? Edited July 14, 201311 yr by shadow2009

Are you just suggesting they throw out an album with no single before it?! You've got to be joking. Songs like Missing You, Notorious and All Fired Up did *decently* to be fair, especially the former which launched their highest peaking album to date. What About Us and Up were also pre-album singles and did very well. Stop focusing on the negatives and think of the positives - uptempo third single, album after that, What About Us went to #1, so they're not gonna be dropped yet. THIS FORUM IS TOO NEGATIVE OMG
July 15, 201311 yr Author I think 'Gentleman' will fall at quite a comical rate this week as it's been removed from the Radio 1 and Capital playlist!
July 15, 201311 yr Hopefully people will just forget that this single ever happened. Or maybe management will re-brand it as a "promotional single"
July 15, 201311 yr Mollie's "so hard for a girl to find" is so fierce http://media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m939h5eq5R1r809w7.gif Queen.
July 15, 201311 yr Huge disappointment with the 19 place decline, i believed a top 30 position for week 2 looked good.
July 15, 201311 yr I don't think it's an unfair thing to say that their love of pushing pre-album singles and then ignoring the album once it's out could be quite damaging to them. They seem to become more and more of a singles act with every album and it's a curious thing, quite unique in the charts today. This album looks to be following On Your Radar and it'll be unfortunate if it happens to sell piss poor as that album did, followed by the campaign completely dying. The Saturdays can push a post-album single better than most British acts today, which makes it all the worse that they seem to have forgotten that releasing singles after albums is a thing that happens. I for one look forward to a Saturdays single release that isn't "début and drop", it's been far too long since 'Higher'.
