Music sure has turned around though - Miley Cyrus for 2 weeks, followed by Lady GaGa, followed by Katy Perry. It's gonna be the best run of no.1s in years.
It would be very much improved if Ellie Goulding would stop Miley from being #1 on its second week though. An Ellie-GaGa-Katy run would be amazing, I can't believe we're finally getting new music from them this month

I think We Can't Stop would be better if it wasn't sung by Miley. I just find her voice irritating and unlistenable, same with all the Disney girls, there's just something about them I don't like.

I have to be agree there, the video to "We Can't Stop", looks like she is trying to act hard

The John Newman one was even worse to be fair.

To be fair that thread was only 'bad' for about a day when it was The Sats vs Newman choose your side (OK I admit to looning over Newman that day )

We'll have to see how this thread progresses throughout the week before we can make a final judgement on which was worse. :P

A. We actually haven't heard the tracks, so how the hell do you know the tracks are going to get a #1.

B. Not every Lady Gaga and Katy Perry track is going to get a #1

C. Get real

D. Watch out for that swinging door.

Sorry if it's been discussed already, but can someone please explain the Ellie situation. Why are there different versions floating around already  And has Katy confirmed a release date yet or is it all still speculation? Either way some monster hits hopefully coming if she (and Gaga) can deliver.

Just like with Rihanna pr Adele, we know GaGa and Katy have massive fan bases and usually deliver.

Can't believe I thought this song was nearly as bad as Who Owns My Heart when I first heard it  But on hearing it a few times, I changed me mind. Maybe y'all need to listen to it a few more times to 'get it'?

Miley and Ellie will be fab, two artists I've been waiting a few years to have a #1 and I never thought it would happen for Miley! Ellie came close and it was bound to happen before long.

Still a shame Anything Could Happen or Your Song, her best two, didn't make it - or that Figure 8 didn't even make top 10!

It's because someone has remixed the song and released it on his own label. Here's my post from the last thread explaining why it's a 'fake' release.

I knew that releasing a remix before the original sounded odd, so I did some research and now I have a few reasons to believe this is a 'fake' release

1. The 'alienator' remix of Burn is not on YouTube

2. The artwork cover is exactly the same as Burn, but with "(Alienator Remix)" added in a different font type to "ELLIE GOULDING BURN"

3. The song sounds almost exactly like the original, the only difference being that there is a beat ontop of it, a bit like The Hype Squad's version of Black and Yellow

4. It's 79p whereas the original is 99p

5. According to iTunes the original will be released on the record label "Polydor Ltd. (UK)" whereas the Alienator remix is on the 'record label' "Alienator"

I wouldn't be surprised if this gets deleted sometime next week.

I don't get it! How has Miley gone from being someone who struggles to get into the top ten to suddenly having a massive number 1? Seriously I am confused.

See You Again and Party in the USA should have been much bigger than they were to be fair - but I would have thought all her fans had gone elsewhere by now!

I think a mixture of radio airplay, hype and lots of video views has contributed to its success. Similar thing for Robin Thicke, who before Blurred Lines had only 1 top 40 hit, and that was in 2007.

 4. Tinie Tempah - Trampoline (feat. 2 Chainz)

Aah thanks it definitely had me fooled as being an official remix.

We Can't Stop is really boring tbh. As are most of the songs I've heard from John Newman. Trust BJ (ok, just Michael) to overhype everything.

Listened to the remix of 'Burn' on iTunes and as Thermo said, it's basically the original with a dubstep beat played over the top. I'm more surprised that whoever it is has successfully (so far) managed to get the track onto iTunes and see the remix going top 30 if it really is fake.

Next weeks chart battle could be more interesting with Ellie Goulding Vs Katy Perry if 'ROAR' does indeed get released on 12th August (although Ellie would have the advantage of Sunday sales)

'We Can't Stop' will be one of the best #1's of the year if it gets there.
