Posted August 10, 201311 yr What song out of each decade 1950's to 2010's would you like back in the Top 40, it can be a classic or a fave. 1950's: 1960's: 1970's: 1980's: 1990's: 2000's: 2010's:
August 10, 201311 yr Toto 'Africa' has returned to the top 100 a few times recently, would like to see that back in the top 40. M83 'Midnight City' could benefit from being on an advert + 59p. I feel as if that song didn't live up to its full potential in the charts. With X Factor coming soon I wonder what will go top 40 off the back of that this year. I'd love a forgotten classic to go back but it's gonna be the usual Goo Goo Dolls, Birdy and Emeli Sande type songs returning to the charts isn't it? :(
August 10, 201311 yr Muse's 'Unintended' is one of my favourite tracks by them, and sounds almost ready made to be covered on X Factor and the like. Quite surprised it hasn't already!
August 10, 201311 yr 1950s-1980s: If we can't have any NEW Xmas songs on the charts, can we at least have some different old ones this December? 1990's: Crash Test Dummies "Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm" (#2 in 1994). Not a classic or a fave, but it would be funny and cause some major :manson:s on the chart show and the iTunes thread 2000's: Gabriella Cilmi "Sweet About Me" and Alphabeat "Fascination" 2010's: "Dog Days are Over" is BEGGING for a better chart peak
August 10, 201311 yr How would Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm cause a major upset? It's not one of my faves but it's very inoffensive. Do explain ^_^
August 10, 201311 yr Jamelia's Superstar  Now that'd be an amazing track to be performed on the X-Factor and return to the top 40
August 10, 201311 yr How would Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm cause a major upset? It's not one of my faves but it's very inoffensive. Do explain ^_^ Maybe you're right! I had read its Wikipedia page the other day, saw how many "worst songs ever" lists its been on, and just thought it must be very polarizing. I was exaggerating tbh but let me rephrase...I'd like it back in the chart to see what the general reaction is! I'd expect a bad reaction but it could go either way! :)
August 10, 201311 yr I'd like 'Over My Head (Cable Car)' to get a better peak. Such a beautiful song and SO much better than 'How To Save A Life'.
August 10, 201311 yr 1950s-1980s: If we can't have any NEW Xmas songs on the charts, can we at least have some different old ones this December? 2010's: "Dog Days are Over" is BEGGING for a better chart peak yes...I Believe In Father Xmas (Greg Lake), December Will Be Magic (Kate Bush), Happy New Year (Abba), Lonely This Christmas (Mud) or even Wombling Merry Xmas would make a change from the same 10 xmas songs year after year in the Top 75... I'll support Dog Days never understood why it peaked so low. B-)
August 10, 201311 yr My musical knowledge isn't big enough before the 1980s, but after that: 1980s: Anything by the London Boys!! Briefly massive in 1989 but never played anymore, particularly sad as they both died in a horrible car accident in 1996 :( 'Requiem', 'London Nights' or indeed anything they ever released back in the charts would be wonderful, blatant OTT Pet Shop Boys ripoffs but still pretty glorious. To be honest too many to mention, given how many classics came out this decade it annoys me all that all you hear are the same few Billie Jean/Sweet Dreams/Final Countdown/Summer of 69 etc examples <_< 1990s: N-Trance - Set You Free. I know it sold enough to get to #2 originally but deserves an extra hundred thousand sales or so. Hopefully with the beginnings of the 90s revival we seem to be in, use in an advert/a 59p reduction will see it soar, particularly as that rave-influenced sound seems to be pretty in now. 2000s: Sonny J's 'Can't Stop Moving', incredible summery track which had the misfortune to be released in two pretty rubbish wet seasons (2007/2008), although *just* sneaked into the top 40 (at #40!) on the second issue. Also a vote for J Majik & Wickaman's 'Crazy World' from the same time which would easily be a hit today, back in 2008 it did incredibly well to peak at #37 given it had no physical CD release or even music video! 2010s: Train's 'Hey, Soul Sister' and Scissor Sisters' 'Fire With Fire' are two 2010 tracks that deserve top 10 places.
August 11, 201311 yr Speaking of blatant Pet Shop Boys rip-offs, I would love Getting Away With It by Electronic to have a chart revival!
August 11, 201311 yr Speaking of blatant Pet Shop Boys rip-offs, I would love Getting Away With It by Electronic to have a chart revival! It's a good song but it's not really a rip-off though as it was co-written and co-produced by and is sung by Neil Tennant. Edited August 11, 201311 yr by Robbie

August 11, 201311 yr Anything from Amy Winehouse would be a treat. Seems like a perfect time to reignite some of the material. I do hope The X Factor take the more inspired route this time with song choices/guest performers but we say this every year and every year it's the same old :(
