August 28, 201312 yr Singles Ellie Glulding has a lead of just a few thousand sales with her Polydor single Burn at the top of the singles midweeks as she leads an unchanged top three completed by Avicii's Positiva/PRMD track Wake Me Up at 2 and the Island cut Sonnentanz (Sun Don't Shine) by Klankarussell featuring Will Heard at 3. Island's Rizzle Kicks are heading for their fourth Top 10 hit with Lost Generation showing up as a new entry at 4 and former Westlife star Shane Filan appears poised to give Capitol UK its Top 10 breakthrough with Everything To Me new at 7. The Lana Del Rey Vs Cedric Gervais Polydor single Summertime Sadness holds at 5 as RCA act Miley Cyrus's former No 1 We Can't Stop stays at 6 and Ministry of Sound track Earthquake by DJ Fresh with Dilo and Dominque Young drops 4-8. There is no change at 9 for Lady Gaga's Interscope/Polydor single Applause and the same label's Robin Thicke million seller Blurred Lines with TI and Pharrell Williams holds at 10. Cheshire rock band The 1975 are heading for a third UK Top 40 hit with a revival of their Dirty Hit single new at 26 in the week to date. Albums California rock band Avenged Sevenfold are currently edging out Naughty Boy in a bid to top this weekend's UK artist albums chart. Hail To The King, the band's sixth album in total and fourth with Warner Bros, is at present around 3,600 sales ahead of fellow brand new release Hotel Cabana by Virgin's Naughty Boy, while Ellie Goulding's Polydor set Halcyon races 26-3 following the release of an expanded version, according to Official Charts Company data. Avenged Sevenfold have only visited the UK Top 10 once to date, reaching No 5 with their last album Nightmare in 2010, while Hotel Cabana is Naughty Boy's debut, although he co-wrote and produced a number of tracks on 2012's overall top seller, Our Version Of Events by Virgin colleague Emeli Sande. The new version of Goulding's album includes eight additional tracks to the release that came out last October, reaching No 2. Among the additional titles is Burn, which has a narrow lead at the top of midweek singles as it looks to achieve a third consecutive week at No1. In a busy week for new albums, there are presently six brand new releases (including the expanded Halcyon) among the Top 10 sellers. These include at No 4 Another Self Portrait - 1969-1971, the 10th in Columbia's Bob Dylan Bootleg Series. Only one of these albums has breached the UK Top 10, Vol 8, which covered the years 1989 to 2006 and came out in 2008. Both Newton Faulkner and Franz Ferdinand are among the Top 10 with their respective fourth albums, but may well have to settle for lower chart showings than previously. Domino act Franz Ferdinand's Right Thoughts Right Words Right Action is at No 5, while their self-titled debut made it to No 3 in 2004, follow-up You Could Have It So Much Better topped the chart in 2005 and 2009's Tonight: Franz Ferdinand hit No 2. Newton's new Ugly Truth/RCA album Studio Zoo is at 7 and follows his first three albums peaking (in chronological order) at 1, 3 and 1, while after securing a fourth week at No 1 last Sunday Britain's Got Talent duo Richard & Adam drop to 6 in the midweeks with their Sony album The Impossible Dream as Asylum/Atlantic act Rudimental's Home falls 2-8, Interscope/Polydor at Imagine Dragons drop 6-9 with NIght Visions and Stereophonics are down 5-10 with the Stylus/Ignition-issued Graffiti On The Train. Last weekend's televised Reading/Leeds Festival has lifted the fortunes of a number of albums near the top end of the market, including Virgin act Bastille whose Bad Blood holds at 13 with sales up 45%, headliners Biffy Clyro lifting 36-16 with the 14th Floor/Warner Bos-issued Opposites on the back of a 143% sales rise and Jake Bugg's self-titled Mercury debut improving 27-19 as demand increases 56% week-on-week. Port Isaac male singing group Fisherman's Friends are new at 14 in the midweeks with their Universal set One And All, while a new Rough Trade-issued Belle & Sebastian retrospective called The Third Eye Centre and housing B-sides and rarities enters at 25 in the week so far. Meanwhile, LA band Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros are set for a UK chart debut with their eponymous Island album at 34 on Sales Flashes. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Wednesday Update Top 40 Only Source: Radio 1/OCC Top 40 Singles 1 Ellie Goulding - Burn (4.5k lead) 2 Avicii - Wake Me Up 3 Klangkarussell feat. August 28, 201312 yr Sorry, I would have posted the update but I was a bit busy (and slightly forgot about it ) I see no one else was around to do it either... Avenged Sevenfold #1. *.* Hilarious. Nice to see a fresh top 5 albums as well, pushing Richard & Adam all the way down to #6. Hopefully there'll be a fair few albums selling 5 figures this week. Bob Dylan doing that well is quite surprising, the last edition of the 'Bootleg Series' from him only got to #18 and the one before that got to #9. Very much taking advantage of low sales I guess and ti'll probably end the week a bit lower than #4 anyway. Good to see 'Opposites' back in the top 20 and 'No More Idols' in the top 30 :D The 1975 should quite comfortably hold onto top 40 on the singles now, might even have a chance of outpeaking 'The City'? Great to see Bastille and Olly top 40 today as well, don't think the latter will hold on but hopefully the former should. 'Right Place Right Time' might just about outpeak 'Busy' at least. 4.5k lead for Ellie by the way (from the OCC report).
August 28, 201312 yr Avenged Sevenfold's new album just sounds like their last 2 or 3 really, it's only because their profile is a bit bigger due to Nightmare being a US No1/UK top 5 album is the reason why this album will probably be top 2. Shame their earlier stuff didn't sell a lot because it's miles better seems that the physical market must be alive and kicking this week because if you look at ITunes that album chart doesn't look anything like the one shown in the update. Franz Ferdinand's album is nowhere near the top 10, neither is Newton Faulkner. Bob Dylan's sales look to be coming from physical buys and Amazon (No2)
August 28, 201312 yr former Westlife star Shane Filan appears poised to give Capitol UK its Top 10 breakthrough with Everything To Me new at 7. That's absolute bullshit - he was *NOWHERE* on iTunes!
August 28, 201312 yr That's absolute bullshit - he was *NOWHERE* on iTunes! He's been low top 40 on iTunes for a few days, he had the #1 'album' on there for a day or two and he's been signing physicals up and down the country. The digital EP and physical sales are helping him enormously.
August 28, 201312 yr He's been low top 40 on iTunes for a few days, he had the #1 'album' on there for a day or two and he's been signing physicals up and down the country. The digital EP and physical sales are helping him enormously. But the latter will be hyper-frontloaded, so I doubt he'll even be T15 by Sunday - maybe not even T20!
August 28, 201312 yr If one week at number one was surprising for 'Burn', then 3 weeks is just extraordinary! :o Same goes to Shane Filan making the Top 10, even on just the midweeks - I've seen the video on TV a couple of times but I haven't heard of any promo at all! Thrilled that it looks quite definite that The 1975 will earn a third Top 40 single and that Bastille and Olly Murs have finally reached it too. I suppose it's not highly surprising that Avenged Sevenfold is number one as they seem to have a decent fanbase gathering. I reckon Naughty Boy may still overtake come Sunday if there's just a 2k gap, but I think the current 3 albums in the Top 3 will still remain there officially (all should be certain to pass 10k, probably 15k).
August 28, 201312 yr Author I think Ellie's sales will increase later in the week, she was pretty close on sales last Weds and ended up increasing towards the end of the week. Her sales should dip a bit but not much, with the cherry picked track from her album. Shane Filan is just too high -_- Surprised Avenged Sevenfold are at #1 I was expecting Naughty Boy

August 28, 201312 yr Shame that Loving You is on its way to out of top 40 but let's be honest it's still 15 places higher than most people thought it'd reach in the first place. Album chart is super interesting! Thought a bit better for Belle and Sebastian but then again, I'm a fan and just heard last weekend that they have a new release out.
August 28, 201312 yr You know things are bad when 7 of the Top 10 are non-movers - it looks more like the US chart than the UK!!! Anyway things should change a fair bit between now and Sunday. I reckon Rizzle Kicks will drop to 5, Shane will disappear and fingers crossed Drake will be able to scrape in at 10 or maybe even 9 ?? EDIT: Damn it Martin, you just beat me to it !!! August 28, 201312 yr Any chance Miguel can enter the top 40 this week? He has two versions of "Adorn" in itunes, one in the 60's and other 110's. Macklemore and Mary Lambert should also enter by sunday which is great to see. Well done to Shane Filan, always better than some of the material he was given with Westlife and this is a very good song.

This two versions combined put him around No. 40-42 on itunes at the moment, so the chance is still there, but not very big.
August 28, 201312 yr The top 10 Singles chart is a bit dull with 7 non movers Having said that I reckon there may be more movement by Sunday. Bar the top 3 and hopefully Lana, Gaga should climb a couple of places and I expect Drake could sneak in but I want Robin out it has way over stayed its time in the chart! Bit of a shock to see Shane at 7, I would be surprised if he holds on to the top 10, I think he might do a Matt and Mel and end up top 15! Good to see a shake up on the album chart though I reckon it will look completely different by Sunday. I really hope Naughty Boy could do a Disclosure and overtake at number 1, Franz Ferdinand will not go top 5 maybe low top 10 and Newton Faulkner could miss out but it will be an interesting chart!
August 28, 201312 yr Oh and Bastille top 40  I hope it can hold on and not get pushed out by awful re-entries for Eminem and Kanye West :puke: Its about time we had new music and new acts charting over old tracks
August 28, 201312 yr Avenged Sevenfold ahead of Naughty Boy? Praying they can swap by Sunday. Shocked to see Shayne Filan as high as #7. Will have a pretty big fall next week then, regardless of where it ends up on Sunday. Nice to see The 1975 as high as #26 though and Olly Murs at #39. Hopefully Bastille can sneak in.
August 28, 201312 yr A7X's last album debuted with less than 20k, so sales aren't going to be beyond that this week - if Naughty Boy does overtake it'll be fairly last minute as that's quite a gap percentage wise.
August 28, 201312 yr great that rprt is top 40 for olly i hope it stays, its frustratin dear darlin is higher.i hope matt and mel can stay top 40 big changes in the album chart which is great but id love ellie to get number 1
August 29, 201312 yr Good to see Shane doing well! Didnt think he would. Also happy that Naughty Boy will miss out
