Posted September 9, 201311 yr Before posting a prediction thread please check the new release schedule before implementing, try posting them closer to release date not 2 months early. A month early should suffice, it gives 4 weeks for discussion and predicting. Any prediction threads that are released within a 2 month period, chart mods will just close your topic without hesitation.
September 9, 201311 yr Why can't people just predict what they want to predict when they want to predict it?
September 9, 201311 yr Why can't people just predict what they want to predict when they want to predict it? It's not so much that it 's just that sometimes there are no youtube links for folks to listen to, and even if they are, nearer the time is better for accurately guessing where a song will end up and sales etc depending on the hype, otherwise the thread just drops off the front page.

But in the case of OAOS releases, there's often no video until well *after* a song is released...
September 14, 201311 yr Why can't people just predict what they want to predict when they want to predict it? Everywhere has some rules, you have been asked nicely, so please follow them. Thanks. To answer vidcapper's comment, most OA/OS tracks have lyric videos now to tide us over until the actual video is released, so that isn't really an issue.
September 14, 201311 yr I agree with all this. It's not really right for you to have to predict a song just by the artist. For example... lets say Rihanna + David Guetta's 'Right Now' was announced 2 months before release when no video/song had yet been revealed, most people would say 'top 5' or 'top 10' for instance, and they would be wrong. This may be the case sometimes, but it is not always the artist (even though this is what happens sometimes) that makes a song big. (Like Bastille, they wern't a very well known name, but then Pompeii come along and got to number 2).
September 14, 201311 yr Author Also you can't really predict when there is lack of new releases. For instance at the moment there is hardly any strong new releases for the month of October a couple of big acts could easily just come along and release material for the week of 21st October, or you might get a track that comes out of the woodwork at a later date, and your own prediction just goes down the pan. So, what's the point of having a prediction thread so early where there is lack of competition.
September 26, 201311 yr Have to say I don't care so much for prediction threads either way however I wonder if the constraints are the reason why so few people post here now and the forum is only kept active by a core of 10 posters with everyone else opting to lurk.

I doubt rules over prediction threads would sway people either way, it helps to keep everything concise and everyone can find what they want easily. Forums are, generally speaking, in decline anyway but I don't think Buzzjack is doing badly compared to many but that's just my opinion. :D

I think most members prefer to lurk is because they don't want to get involved, and get tired with the constant trolls (pardon the expression), I can name one person of the top of my head who comes across that way, and makes the forum thread more harder to read.
