I don't think Steve Brookstein even counts as a one-album wonder, frankly. I know the album got to the top of the chart but it must be one of the lowest-selling Number Ones this century and he had no other success around it.

Bionic went to #1 too, so don't forget to include that! :kink:

I don't think it's fair to call Christina a "One Album Wonder". Her debut went platinum, then 2nd album did amazing and her 3rd album went 2x platinum if I remember right. Plus she spawned multiple hits off all 3 of those albums.

I think Little Boots fits the "One Album Wonder" title unfortunately.

LOL but I stand by her as being a one album wonder :teresa: . Column inches and feature vocals on singles don't count

This is ridiculous, she's about as much a one-album-wonder as the Beatles.

What about EMF?

Schubert Dip was nr. 3, but Stigma only Nr. 19 (although being great actually...).

Schubert Dip was a brilliant album. Sadly, Stigma and Cha Cha Cha were less so :(

Can't believe no one has mentioned Pixie Lott

Also Kate Nash, Alexandra Burke, Alesha Dixon, t.A.T.u.

Someone did mention Pixie Lott, page 2 ;)

Darius!

True colors sold 3 million worldwide. It might not have done as well as she's so unusual, but 3 million sales is a hot record

Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie sold twice than that yet it is widely regarded as a flop because it faded into oblivion very quickly.

Cyndi had two major hits after She's So Unusual ("True Colors" & "I Drove All Night") but none of her albums got any attention and I believe her debut sold 6 million in the US alone so True Colors selling 3 million WW still makes her eligible to this list in my opinion.

I guess we need to define hit and flop.

Hit - selling over a certain amount - in the UK/worldwide?

Flop - selling below a certain percentage of the sale of the previous hit album

OR

selling below a certain number of copies?

Even though the follow up did scrape a single week inside the Top 10, I'd say that The Hooisers fit this thread
I can't believe no-one's mentioned Mika yet. First album MASSIVE success, second sunk without a trace. 'We Are Golden' sort of killed his career, especially with that ridiculous video of him bouncing on a bed in his undies...

The difference is that Alanis and Cyndi still sell at least some records and tour at theatres and arenas. Where does Darius tour?

Cyndi is also an icon of some kind and Alanis started even a movement which helped other artists such as Natalie Imbruglia and Meredith Brooks imo.

Cyndi Lauper kept having Top 40 singles until as recently as 1997 (I know that's not very recent to most Buzzjackers, but it's quite a while after her first hit).
But if we include mega selling albums only as hits, to the shock of this forum, the Saturdays have never had a hit album :o

You can't really say that about pixie lott cause you're expecting it to do as well as her first album. In the end it did go gold, which is still really good and successful.

That wasn't my opinion. Just pointing out that if only one Christina album counts as a hit, none of the Saturdays albums would either.

Well Alanis was following one of the best selling albums ever, people were expecting her to do JLP pt.2 :P so when she came out with SFIJ I guess some people were disappinted. Shame because it has some real gems on it.

It barely went gold and it's not really good or successful when you peak with your first album...
