There are so many great songs out there that fail to make the mainstream charts for one reason or another, and that phenomenon has recently widened ever since the UK singles chart has become download only.

Nowadays, Most artists only chart with the lead single or pre-album release singles , and then struggle to have another hit from the album once it's released, also a lot of new artists are finding difficulty breaking into the music industry since internet social media domination has helped increase globalization in everything, including music, where currently, fewer artists are making it the mainstream music scene and the charts, as opposed to the 90's and early 00's (where there has been at least 17 new entries in the UK top 75 which at least consist of 7 to 8 new artists per week)....

List your favorite songs by mainstream and indie artists from 2013 that you think should've reached the UK Top 75 and had a wider audience but failed to do so for a reason or another.

Here are my fave hidden gems of 2013:

Please do review them and tell me which ones you like, and then post your own hidden gems...

Marina and The Diamonds - How to be a heartbreaker

I still can't figure out how this pop classic failed to make the UK top 75 while it was by far Marina's poppiest most accessible song ever, and after it was used on Glee. Such a shame. Maybe it was the homo-erotic video that put people off the song.... Same can also be said of her Electra heart campaign, too bad : such an underrated pop album...

Pet Shop Boys & Example - Thursday

I know it's hard for the ageing 80's pop legends Pet shop Boys to score a hit in modern era UK charts since most radios refuse to airplay songs by older acts. But in my opinion their songs ' Thursday' and 'Love is a bourgeois construct' sound better than 90% of what's being fed to us on most radios..

Natalia Kills- Saturday Night

One of the most talented, most underrated singers ever, her debut album 'Perfectionist' was largely ignored in the UK , and her most recent album 'Trouble' failed to chart

'Saturday night', 'Trouble' and 'Outta time' could've been huge hits if released by Katy Perry or Rihanna , but are left unknown to the general public due to lack of exposure and selective airplay.

Natalia Kills - Outta Time

Jessie Ware - Imagine It Was Us

Disco-pop heaven from one of the best female artists to emerge from the UK the past 3 years, 'Imagine it was us' was destined for great things in the year when Daft Punk scored one of the biggest songs of 2013 with a disco song, yet it flopped big time which is a real shame...

Mika Ftr Ariana Grande- Popular Song

A collaboration made in pop heaven, but Mika has faded quickly in the UK since his multi-million selling debut album 'Life in cartoon motion' but is still famous in France, Spain & many other countries. 'Popular Song' could've been a number 1 if released during his peak in 2008, same can also be said for his other collaboration with Pharrell Williams 'Celebrate'.

Mika Ftr Pharrell Williams - Celebrate

BLITZKIDS mvt. - Cold

I can't believe that this amazing german pop group didn't reach international success since they release some of the most infectious electro-pop hooks that Artpop Gaga would kill for...

BLITZKIDS mvt. - Heart on the Line

Moby- The Perfect Life

He was one of the biggest selling artists in the UK in the early 2000's, but now he faded away, even though he just released his most commercial song ever, 'The Perfect Life'.

Ciara - Overdose

One of the most instant songs of 2013, had it been released by Rihanna, it could've been number 1 for many weeks, amazing pop-R&B gem from Ciara's new album.

Florrie - Live a little

Pop genius song from Florrie, an underrated talented UK pop artist that plays all the instruments in her songs. 'Live a little' was destined to be her breakthrough single after several failed attempts, but it proved to be another unfortunate failure.

Agree with Jessie Ware's song.

For Ciara there's also Body Party. I don't think it made the top 75 but it's a really beautiful song imo.

Marina's release was totally fucked up, they just randomly threw it out there one day. Even Marina herself expressed dismay about what her label did on Twitter.

Agreed firmly with 'Imagine It Was Us' and 'Saturday Night', I'd have loved for those to do something.

I'm pretty certain 'Thursday' and 'Overdose's official releases are still to come, Pet Shop Boys will do nothing but I think Ciara could have surprise hit potential with this.

Just heard this today for the first time, on ZM in New Zealand (it made top 40 there)! Sounded great on radio <3

Ulrik Munther - Tell the World I'm Here

Purity Ring - Fineshrine

^ AMAZING song. I was surprised to ever see it in the top 200 though! Probably would make the top 75 if it were given some sort of radio push

Yay time to spam my favourite non-UK hits!

Hardwell feat. Amba Shepherd "Apollo"

Michael Woods "Platinum Chains"

Krewella "Alive"

The Aston Shuffle vs. Tommy Trash "Sunrise (Won't Get Lost)"

AWOLNATION "Sail"

Wouldn't rule out AWOLNATION just yet, it seems to be an extreme slow-burner (more so in the USA but it could take off more in the UK any moment).

I could basically list all of my entries/top points in BJSC, but no one's got time for that (check BJSC out non participants, its fun!!11). This one sticks out the most for me:

Gorgeous song, dunno if it was even released :(

This too seeing as it did get an official release, despite this being very much a 2012 song for me:

Charlie Brown - Floodgates

Mika ft. Ariana Grande - Popular Song
