TECHNICALLY "Fineshrine" was 2012. :P

Loads of great choices here. Loving the SS suggestions like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and James Blake!

Some others:

Jagwar Ma "The Throw"

Sigur Rós "Brennisteinn"

HAERTS "All The Days

St. Lucia "Elevate"

'Retrograde' is the BIG ONE for me too.

Beyond that:

#79, SO CLOSE.

All of the above 3 songs made #1 in my personal chart this year. And then I could basically just say every other Kendrick song, although they're more 2012. 'Poetic Justice' and 'Bitch, Don't Kill My Vibe' were both released as singles this year and missed out anyway.

Demi Lovato - Made In The USA

It's a real summery and breezy track, which was very commercial and followed a big hit, and yet radio failed to latch on in the same way and it only made a little headway with a reduction :( I guess Skyscraper finally making an impact beyond #32 kind of makes up for it but still.

Natalia Kills - Saturday Night

Just stunning  Her vocals sound quite disinterested, which is very effective. If this was by Lana Del Rey, it would have been big.

Kelly Clarkson - Tie It Up

One of my favourite singers, so anything she does is underrated to me :P This was never going to impact the UK in any way (even the US only took it to #112), as a country song, but it just serves to assert the fact all her fans know - she can do most genres.

Samantha Jade - Firestarter

What You've Done To Me was one of the best pop songs of 2012, so although this had a lot to live up to it's a second pop smash in a row! It was fairly big in Australia, and like What You've Done To Me it could have been a fairly big hit here if they bothered to launch their X-Factor winners...

Lorde - Tennis Court

Royals will of course be huge, but this was the song that really made me take notice! Everyone's probably fed up of the Lana comparisons, but she's very much like Lana musically and hopefully success wise.

Jessie Ware - Imagine It Was Us

Sounded like much more of a hit than any of her previous singles (which incidentally should also have been huge), and yet even that seemingly can't lift her curse :drama: In the same way that Wildest Moment or 110% are stunning, this is so glorious and funky.

Miranda Lambert - Mama's Broken Heart

Again, would not have done anything given that it's extremely country, but this is the best country song of 2013 for me! I love angry/crazy country.

As a mega Blackmore's Night fan, from their latest album

Mediaeval renaissance rock is so cool!

Hoping 'Tennis Court' can become a hit after 'Royals'. Both up there with my favourite songs of the year.

fun. - Carry On

I know Radio 1 playlisted it LAST year, but I was hoping it might have another chance after they performed this at the Grammys. Carry On really should have had a few weeks top 40 at least.

Krewella "Alive"

Huge song at American pop radio, Capital could have easily playlisted this, it's a shame this didn't take off here :(

Just heard that Krewella song for the first time... it's a bit good isn't it :) *goes to download it*
So I was gonna make a post here including maybe 10 of my favorite songs or so, but then they turned into 20, and then 40 and so on until finally I had a some-what rough list of 140 songs that I wish had made the Top 40/75. I have terrible OCD when it comes to these things so I just ended up making a thread where I'd list them up instead. Oh geez.
The following songs from my YTD haven't made the top 75;

58) Everything Everything - Kemosabe

Got to #48 non?

Almost everything by Dragonette & most stuff Roisin Murphy has released solo

Totally agree with Dragonette's latest album, but Roisin Murphy hasn't released anything since 2010...

Tegan and Sara - I was a fool

Didn't care much for them before but this and "Closer" are great.

Irish number one,but nothing here....

Finbar of the legendary Fureys

And this little Dutch number is very whistleable and gets a big :D just for the video
