'Leave A Light On' >>>>>>>>>>>

i'm not being rude lol saying that pub does karaoke so i'll sing Leave a Light On and Disco Love to make people want the album :P

Only 4,000 copies is quite awful especially considering the amount of time they had for pre-orders. The album should open with 11,000 sales which is incredibly disappointing and should freefall quite fast next week.
4k is good! It means they're on for around 15k or so I'd say, which isn't bad AT ALL right now, in this climate. A couple of months ago they'd have been #2 with 15k.
I can see it being anywhere between 10k to 15k. It just depends on how consistent they are throughout the week! In any case, I think they're safe for a Top 10 debut.

It's still the 6th most purchased album of the week so far, whether it's 15k or 4k opening sales, the albums market is in such a state atm so those that were expecting bigger sales, I don't know how. Plus all those multi-buying probably don't realise, that buying the same album at the same time, counts as 1 sale for 3 albums for example.

But like Jay says, I should think they're on course for a safe top 10 position. I predict #8 with 11k.

so is it that the industry at the moment doesn't sell many albums as it did 6 years ago or are people just rubbish at selling albums? confused lol

I wonder how the album would have done had it been released straight after ' What About Us' ?

'You Don't Have the Right' has finally clicked with me, properly. So beautiful!

Album rating now I've given it a fair few listens...

09.0 'What About Us' (feat. Sean Paul)

10.0 'Disco Love'

07.0 'Gentleman'

09.0 'Leave A Light On'

11.0 'Not Giving Up'

08.5 'Lease My Love'

09.0 '30 Days'

08.0 'Anywhere With You'

08.0 'Problem With Love'

09.0 'You Don't Have the Right'

08.0 'Somebody Else's Life'

08.5 'Wildfire'

There's not as many "highs" as 'On Your Radar', but there's nothing I like less than I like 'For Myself' & 'Promise Me'. 'Gentleman' is the clear lowlight for me. I appreciate it being the "risky" single choice, but the risky tracks should be saved for AFTER an album release imo. But yeah, a solid album, although I far prefer 'On Your Radar' and 'Headlines' atm.

I'm honestly not sure what people were expecting in regards to album sales, but I'll take the 4k. As long as they end up Top 10 at the end of the week and sell over 10k, there should be at least one more single from the album which is all I really care about. Between that and the tour this will go Silver at some point which is all we can really hope for for a Sats release.

MY PREDICTIONS:

1. John Newman - Tribute - 26,000

2. Pearl Jam - Lightning Bolt - 21,000

3. Cher - Closer To The Truth - 18,000

4. Paul McCartney - NEW - 17,000

5. The Saturdays - Living For The Weekend - 15,000

Rate Time!

10 | What About Us

08 | Gentleman

09 | Leave A Light On

11 | Not Giving Up

06 | Lease My Love

08 | 30 Days

08 | Anywhere With You

08 | Problem With Love

07 | You Don't Have The Right

08 | Don't Let Me Dance Alone

10 | Somebody Else's Life

THE SATURDAYS Not Giving Up On Love [The Saturdays Sunday JRMX Piano Reprise]

Hmm, I think that's always been a myth to be honest.

In You Don't Have The Right, who is it that does the insane soprano part towards the end? Is it Frankie?

Yeah, i was also wondering, however i think it is Rochelle. But i still want to know who sings right after Vanessa's verse. I suspect it to be Frankie too.

Looks like we'll be headed for another OYR - about 18k first week? Hmm.

I think from what I remember OYR had done 6k at #16 (might be wrong?!) in the first midweek update.

Yeah but you have to consider that album sales are extremely low atm. 8,000 copies can take someone all the way to the edge of the top 10.

See - There are two versions of LFTW, unlike OYR...

Last Week Sales

22 Dan Le Sac vs. Scoobius Pip 4,520

So its safe to say we're looking at a higher peak than OYR :)

so is it that the industry at the moment doesn't sell many albums as it did 6 years ago or are people just rubbish at selling albums? confused lol

It's because people save up for Christmas that every market (not just music) stalls during autumn. E.g in box office mojo, they said that September was very low, tickets wise. It's just the season atm

Yeah! And Itunes doesn't even make that much of an impact on album sales. Probably about 1,500 of the sales are from ithnes
