November 1, 201311 yr I got it wrong with Fatboy Slim but I have no doubt Animals will go straight to number 1 with sales of 100k+, easily one of the best dance tracks of 2013 It's been top 100 most of last month and its just about to go top 40 a week ahead of release which is amazing
November 1, 201311 yr Bit baffled, it's an alright bit of instrumental dance but we're really expecting huge six figure #1 sales? As recently as 2009 something like this would have missed the top 40, even in 2010-11 I'd have had it as a surprise top 20 hit. I understand the appeal but not the mass appeal. Maybe it'll grow on me.
November 11, 201311 yr Hopefully will be a chart-topper, hasn't been a song anything like this in recent years with perhaps the exception of Greyhound by SHM.
November 11, 201311 yr More and more awful # 1 singles in United Kingdom  I know right? If only Double Take or Geri Halliwell could be #1 instead.
November 11, 201311 yr 1. Why you compare Geri Halliwell and Double Take ? Only because I love both artists ? 2. Based on UK # 1 singles 2013 is the worst year in music. But 4 shitest number ones in row (Royals, Monster, Look Right Through, Animals) is so much even for this very bad year. With terrible "I Love It", Avicii's singles, "Thrift Shop", "Blurred Lines", "Need U (100%)" and some others this year is easily the worst music year in last 20 years or maybe even in all 60 years of UK Singles Chart. I think it may just be you dislike house and EDM. I love house and think this year has had some fantastic chart toppers. Sure, Robin Thicke, Icona Pop and John Newman IMO were shit number ones but this has been a fantastic year for music I think. Personally think that 09/10 were pretty terrible with all the poppy hip hop in the chart.
November 11, 201311 yr I think this year is quite strong for #1s compared to last year. Off the top of my head we had Turn Up The Music, two absolutely horrific singles by Rita Ora, arguably Katy Perry's worst single ever, Diamonds, Payphone, Hall Of Fame, Heatwave and others. This year is so much better than that selection of horrors.
November 11, 201311 yr 85-90 % #1s from last 5 years are real shit. I had the idea about personal "All-Time 100 Worst UK # 1 Singles" countdown. But there were so many awful # 1s in last years. I could even use only them for full countdown. From 2012 hits I hate "Somebody That I Used to Know", "We Are Young", Rita Ora, "Diamonds" e.t.c. :) Some X-Factor # 1s (Little Mix, Joe McElderry + maybe Matt Cardle) were the best #1s in their years. Joe McElderry and Little Mix weren't even the best number ones of their month, let alone year.

I remember that song because it was so awful but 'Turn Up The Music' just completely slipped my memory altogether  I do remember how it goes now I've been reminded of it but so incredibly forgettable for a relatively recent #1.
November 11, 201311 yr :o I'm never was a troll. Perhaps not a troll (though not convinced wholly), but a very opposing 'taste' in music to the norm. I think 2013 is easily the best year for number 1s since the early 00s.
November 11, 201311 yr Agreed. 2013 has been a much better year for number ones at least than the last couple of years. Been a decent variety of genres at least. For me 2011 was a poor year. She Makes Me Wanna, Don't Go, Stay Awake, We Found Love, Cannonball, Someone Like You, Party Rock Anthem & the worst number one of the 21st century, Loca People. November 13, 201311 yr For me 2011 was a poor year. She Makes Me Wanna, Don't Go, Stay Awake, We Found Love, Cannonball, Someone Like You, Party Rock Anthem & the worst number one of the 21st century, Loca People. 2011 was the worst year for chart music imo. Either that or 2009. I agree with you that She Makes Me Wanna, We Found Love, etc. were awful, but Don't Go and Stay Awake (and Promises, Heart Skips a Beat, What's My Name?) were highlights for me that year.
