Single & Album Summary

 

After last week, One Direction nearly had a #1, a day later Eminem & Rihanna became firm favourite to snatch that #1 from them and did the inevitable. This week there are strong new single releases from Storm Queen, Britney Spears and Little Mix after their performance on the X Factor results show. There are a few more new entries that could enter the top 40 chart from Katy B, Taylor Swift feat. Snow Patrol's lead man Gary Lightbody and the 5th pointless track from Justin Bieber, another 5 weeks to go.

 

In the album chart, hot favourite seems to be Eminem "The Marshall Mathers LP2" to take the #1 album next Sunday, other new album releases from James Arthur with his self titled debut album, Tinie Tempah, The Wanted, Avril Lavigne, The Overtones, Shane Filan, Etherwood, Icona Pop, Midlake, M.I.A., Nickelback, Bob Dylan and Elvis Presley please note there is a TV special on ITV1 this Friday titled The Nation's Favourite Elvis Songs is televised, which might give the album a late boost.

I reckon we'll see an all new Top 4 on the Wednesday update - Eminem, James Arthur, Tinie Tempah and The Wanted - along with Andre Rieu and The Overtones making debuts in the Top 10 with a possibility that Shane Filan and Avril Lavigne will be there too (although I think these last two will be outside the Top 10 come Sunday). I'm sure there will be a huge improvement on sales in the top end of the albums; hopefully 100k+ for Eminem.

Going to predict an Eminem-James Arthur-Tinie Tempah T3 by Sunday, shame only one of them'll nab the top spot. Hopefully all on 40k+ sales too, with Eminem challenging for 100k!

ITV Daybreak said yesterday that James Arthur is "a certainty for No.1 album this week" but he should have released another week as he'll be beaten handsomely by Eminem!

1D were in the singles chart and completely new and unpublicized release, James Arthur is in the albums so such a drop would be unexpected if he is that far in front of course we don't know the numbers but thousands suggests a healthy lead

Avril is ahead of The Wanted on Itunes right now, wonder if that's the case in physical sales, Bowie should climb a bit this week with this extra tracks version of "The Next Day" released

Eminem has been released today. James Arthur and the rest of the new releases were out yesterday as per so will get the normal weeks trading, where as Eminem has lost a day due to releasing the album on a Tuesday.

I take your point, although James tweeting a few hours after Eminem's release could be jumping the gun a little.
