Who will be the Christmas #1 this year? There are quite a few contenders already, OCC has just written an article about it (here)

Jack Topping is an 11 year-old choirboy, Big Reunion is made up of 911, Blue, 5ive, Atomic Kitten, Liberty X and B*Witched. The other contenders are self-explanetory. Ideally I'd like Tamera to win XF and get that #1 smash! Or any realistic contender from XF really.

List of Contenders

X Factor Winner - TBA

Jack Topping - Tomorrow

Richard & Adam - I Saw Three Ships Come Sailing In (On Christmas Day)

Susan Boyle & Elvis Presley - O Come, All Ye Faithful

Big Reunion - I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday

Retrobot - Christmas Robot

AC/DC - Highway To Hell

Outside Contenders

Kelly Clarkson - Underneath the Tree

Leona Lewis - One More Sleep

Lily Allen - Somewhere Only We Know

Big Reunion would be the best Christmas #1 imo.

Is the X Factor winners single going to be released a week early again this year?

Richard & Adam - I Saw Three Ships Come Sailing In (On Christmas Day)

Susan Boyle & Elvis Presley - O Come, All Ye Faithful

Big Reunion - I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday

I bet all these tracks are donated to different charities, I know the Big Reunion all the proceeds are donated to the Text Santa ITV1

If they're the main contenders, I REALLY hope something else comes up soon as they all sound truly terrifying prospects.

Is the XF winner releasing in the week leading up to Christmas this time?

It's coming to something when a doctored duet between Susan Boyle & Elvis Presley promises to be better than the X-Factor winner.

The winners single will be available shortly after the live final on December 15, so yes, it will be released on Christmas week.

What a dreadful line-up.

Hopefully a song not intended for the Christmas market will make it this year.

Hopefully a song not intended for the Christmas market will make it this year.

It's very unlikely imo. The X Factor singles sell over 200,000 (sometimes a lot more), and a "normal" song isn't naturally going to sell that. There's also the fact that record labels don't release many songs on Christmas week, which means we don't have the chance of a held-back song getting huge first-week sales on Christmas week.

Hopefully a song not intended for the Christmas market will make it this year.

Hopefully when X Factor finishes (like, forever, rather than just for the year), there won't be as many charity records/Facebook campaigns for Xmas #1 so that 'normal' songs have a better chance of getting there. Mind you, songs don't sell like they used to at Christmas because many wait for the New Year for the iTunes gift card, so from a sales point of view, things are better off as they are now, even if the songs that get to Xmas #1 are terrible.

I think it will be out of the X Factor winner and the Big Reunion for the top spot this year. I think Richaard & Adam may get the Xmas #1 in the albums.

Don't rule out Kelly Clarkson :)

I don't think she'll be a proper contender (as she isn't releasing on Xmas week iirc), but I'll put her and Leona as outside contenders ^_^

I think it's fair to say we very much can rule out Kelly Clarkson.

Nothing will come close to the XF winner this year I think.

Kelly Clarkson and Leona Lewis will do much better in the albums than they do in the singles - wouldn't be surprised if both their singles missed the Top 40.

Most recent odds

X-Factor Winner 6-5

Susan Boyle & Elvis Presley 5-1

The Big Reunion 5-1

Lily Allen 14-1

Joe Topping 16-1

Jonathan & Charlotte 16-1

One Direction 16-1

Richard & Adam 20-1

JLS 25-1

Rihanna 25-1

Adele 33-1

Bruno Mars 33-1

Robbie Williams 33-1

A number of others are quoted at higher odds, or by only one bookie at present so their odds maynot be representative. Kelly Clarkson not even mentioned.

What makes you think Richard & Adam have a better chance than Leona or Kelly? They aren't a singles act.
I hope Unconditionally puts up a great fight (I know it's not Christmas related obviously) if the rumours of her performing in the X Factor Final are true.

Unconditionally would be a great song to rival The X Factor.
I'd like the Big Reunion guys to get it. It's for charity as well, for ITV's Text Santa. Maybe Leona or Kelly Clarkson.

These days we can pretty much assure the XF winner will sadly sail to #1, unless there's some big random charity single around to stop it

(the days of that RATM campaign really do seem amazing compared to this :()
