This is seriously one of the most unpredictable rates I've seen on buzzjack! Can Roar possibly be out next?

∆ BIRTHDAY ∆

Average 8.033

Highest score 10 (Jack, AdamAloud)

Lowest score 6 (Johnkm)

Just edging ahead of the awful 'This Is How We Do' is 'Birthday' which is rather fantastic. Definitely one of the best pop stormers on the album, and a hell of a lot better than the afore mentioned horror and, dare I say it now that it's worn out a little, 'Roar'. Don't think it quite beats 'Walking on Air' though, but it's still got a fantastic beat - even if it needs to lose the part at the end where she whispers 'Happy birthday'. Cheapens the song a little...

008 / Birthday

009 / This Is How We Do

010 / Love Me

011 / International Smile

012 / Double Rainbow

013 / It Takes Two

014 / This Moment

015 / Choose Your Battles

016 / Spiritual

WHAT?! BIRTHDAY?! So shocked at that, probably my 4th favourite behind Roar, Unconditionally and Dark Horse (which I imagine will be the top 3).

∆ GHOST ∆

Average 8.200

Highest score 10 (Regina, Calum Sandé)

Lowest score 3 (Tyler)

Surprisingly ahead of the last two songs is 'Ghost', a beautiful ballad but much like 'Spiritual' not really up to the normal standard of Katy Perry ballads. Still a very beautiful song with some touching lyrics, and obviously very personal to Katy, but it seems to just get lost among the sea of *amazing* tracks on the album - probably doesn't help that it is succeeded by 'Love Me' and 'This Moment', both very powerful songs with universally impressive lyrics.

'This Is How We Do' is easily one of the highlights for me. Amazing, catchy pop song and a Kathy Beth (?) 'Last Friday Night' sequel sort of video would be perfect <3 Your commentary for it is baffling. You don't seem to have given it lower than a "3" yourself, but you go on like it's one of the worst songs. Not the very worst but "down there". Either you're very generous on your scoring or you like it more than you lead on. :kink:

'Birthday' is the track which I personally don't see the fuss about. I still like it, but not anywhere near as much as anyone else seems to.

GHOST IS f***ING TERRIBLE. Any song that starts with "you sent a text ..." cannot be taken seriously.

This Is How We Do & Birthday are amazing. I cannot take this rate seriously. Bye.

∆ LEGENDARY LOVERS ∆

Average 8.567

Highest score 10 (Regina, Calum Sandé, Davidson)

Lowest score 6.5 (AdamAloud)

Narrowly missing out on the top 5 is the absolutely fantastic 'Legendary Lovers' which would be the best song on the album if 'Unconditionally' did not exist. The chorus to this is just so gorgeous, and the vocals from Katy are very powerful and stunning. "Take me down to the river" is a great part of the song, and the way she delivers it is fabulous. Fair to say that what's to come though is a very predictable top 5 (even if for the most part the rate thus far has been quite UNpredictable).

006 / Legendary Lovers

007 / Ghost

008 / Birthday

009 / This Is How We Do

010 / Love Me

011 / International Smile

012 / Double Rainbow

013 / It Takes Two

014 / This Moment

015 / Choose Your Battles

016 / Spiritual

Again with 'Birthday', I like LL but not nearly as much as everyone else seems to. :( At least all four of 'Roar", 'Unconditionally', 'Dark Horse' and 'Walking On Air' are still to come!

∆ BY THE GRACE OF GOD ∆

Average 8.733

Highest score 10 (Jack, Calum Sandé, d__, Lukuzz, Acoustic, Liam)

Lowest score 5 (Tyler)

Kicking off the rather fantastic top 5 is possibly Katy's most beautiful and personal ballad to date - 'By the Grace of God' - detailing very finely and beautifully the aftermath of her relationship and marriage to Russell Brand. The loveliest line is probably "I thank my sister for keeping my head above the water"; it reminds us all of the lovely moments we saw between the pair of them on her film, 'Part of Me'. So, only four songs remain to fight it out for the top spot - 'Roar', 'Unconditionally', 'Dark Horse' and 'Walking on Air' - which will win?

005 / By the Grace of God

006 / Legendary Lovers

007 / Ghost

008 / Birthday

009 / This Is How We Do

010 / Love Me

011 / International Smile

012 / Double Rainbow

013 / It Takes Two

014 / This Moment

015 / Choose Your Battles

016 / Spiritual

This rate has made me realised how much I don't really like this album lmao. The ballads are so boring/preachy and go nowhere mostly. 10-16 are very boring, then Ghost is probably one of the worst songs she has done. Legendary Lovers is overrated to f*** too.

Pleased to see Walking On Air Top 4, it is far too underrated. Really hoping it is a single at some point .

Just missing out on a spot in the top three is 'Walking on Air' - the second promotional single to be released directly after 'Dark Horse' in anticipation of the album itself. Hopefully it actually does get a proper single release at some point because it will obviously do quite well. A fan favourite and it'll probably attract a fair bit of attention outside of the fanbase. The only irritating thing about this song that some people seem to entertain is the 'TONIGHT' parts. Alright for a couple of listens, but otherwise, ew.

∆ DARK HORSE ∆

Average 9.100

Highest score 11 (Davidson)

Lowest score 4 (d__)

Awarded with a bronze medal is the first of the two promotional singles from the album - 'Dark Horse'. Definitely one of the strongest songs on the album with a killer chorus. Juicy J who features on the song doesn't really add a great deal, but it's probably fair to say that the song would be a little empty without him. It would definitely benefit both the song itself and the album if it were released as a single, so hopefully that is on the horizon! Already thinking of a video along the lines of 'E.T'. So now, only 'Roar' and 'Unconditionally' remain, but which will win and be crowned the best song from 'Prism'?

So rounding off the countdown and the rate now, 'Unconditionally' has triumphed above 'Roar' - the first single from the album. The former serves as the second single from the album with a touching message in both the lyrics and the video about same sex relationships and how a love for somebody is unconditional. The video is absolutely stunning in all ways - one of her best visually. It's a lovely winter video too with snowdrops covering Katy's hair and a Downton Abbey-esque room with dancing men and women - some men dancing together and some shirtlessness involved (yay :kink:). But commiserations to 'Roar', the single that enticed everybody and got them excited for what else was to come from 'Prism'. The video shows Katy adjusting to life in a jungle after losing her partner and meeting lots of animals along the way. The song itself though is amazing and I'm sure everybody can agree that the last chorus is just absolutely stunning! One of her best vocals. So, are y'all happy with the results, would you have altered the winner at all, or would you have changed any of the lower songs' positions? SPILL ALL.

001 / Unconditionally

002 / Roar

003 / Dark Horse

004 / Walking on Air

I would have said

01 Walking On Air

02 This Is How We Do

03 Unconditionally

04 Dark Horse

05 Birthday

06 Roar

07 By The Grace Of God

And the rest are mostly terrible

A perfect top 2, 'Unconditionally' was so close to getting my 11 but 'Roar' just edged it. Thanks for doing this Calum!
