I don't know what is so shocking tbh, Lostprophets weren't exactly a household name before all this happened. People will have seen the band name, been curious as to what music they've released before, had a listen, and liked it. A lot of their old stuff is actually really good, I used to be a fan back in the day.

 

By downloading their music, they are not giving any money to Ian Watkins, his association with that band will never be re-instated. The other band members will get the royalties, and may even donate them to a child protection charity or something.

 

Basically, people aren't downloading their music in support of Mr Watkins himself!

 

I understand that it's in some ways rational to buy their music now - it's not like you're going to hear it on the radio anytime soon - but of course he gets the royalties. Just like Gary Glitter still gets his. Obviously, he won't get much out of a few hundred 79p downloads though.

As an aside I'm pretty sure Gary Glitter doesn't get any royalties anymore - he sold them some years ago to pay for legal fees.....

 

EDIT: he sold "most" of his royalties according to the telegraph back in 2008....

I love 'What Now'. Always has been one of my favourites and I'm very happy to see it do something! Promotion has been all over the place but I do hope X Factor manage to get her on this year :(

The hate on here for 1D is absolutely shocking! If this was some ten a penny female with these sales it would no doubt be a great thing!

 

Its a solid album, brilliant single to lead the album with and i'm so damn thankful they have the sales to merit it!

I 100% agree.

The primary demographic of this site is young males. If we take a generalisation, the majority of those HATE boybands. It's not really that surprising we have negativity around them on here. On the flipside, there's absolutely no need for vindictive posts like Tombo's so, to back Mart!n up, just TRY and be sensible when you say you dislike 1D. And Umi's right, there are far better things to do with one's time, just ignore their existence, it's actually quite easy to do.

We don't delete details/accounts, you're free to walk away from the site though, although it would be a shame if we lost a poster because of a few idiots. :(

The fact that anyone can suggest they are horrid human beings when they obviously just don't like their music speaks volumes about their own vile character. Certainly more than it does about 1D's.

 

I don't particularly like their music either but to be fair to them, they clearly put the hours in when it comes to promoting and if thousands of people choose to buy it, they deserve the success. It's surely as simple as that.

 

Obviously, from a selfish point of view, I'd like the songs I bought to be higher in the charts but they're not. Because One Direction are clearly more popular at the moment. Bloody good for them too. If someone offered me the opportunity they have, I'd snatch their hands off for it.

 

To my knowledge, they haven't killed anyone and as far as I'm aware they are not responsible for any major worldwide disasters. They're a bunch of young lads having the time of their lives, causing no real harm to anyone at all. Some people need to get out more and get over themselves.
