Any reason why this is climbing, as it was out of the top 100 a few days ago? Or is it just the 1D songs falling?

Well it fell 9-16 officially (I know it couldn't chart before that but that's not the point), so I can see what scratchy23 meant. A big-ish drop in its second proper week, and then looking to climb a fair bit the week after. Stay by Rihanna did the same I think, after its X Factor performance.

 

I meant on iTunes, DWUW went to #1 initially then crashed to the bottom of the top 40 in a matter of days, then rose again.

Since I've finally got Excel 2010 which has enough rows to display a whole year of iTunes positions in one column, I can plot a graph of a song's position throughout the year (assuming it is ever-present, of course)...

I was using Excel 2003, which is restricted to 65,535 rows - enough for 1 months data : 1500*31=46,500 rows.

 

To get a whole year's data in one column you need 1500*365=547500 rows.

 

So after plummeting at the start of the week (admittedly mainly by default below the new releases), "Girls" could even climb this week. Showing great tenacity but I fera it'll get put back to 99p any day now and never make the top 40. Very reminiscent of "Closer To The Edge" a few years back.

1D not too far off clearing out of the top 100 entirely (apart from the 2 singles of course, although 'Best Song Ever' has dropped quite heavily again anyway, down to #73). 'Strong' and 'Diana' are both gone, 'Midnight Memories' is down to #95, 'Don't Forget Where You Belong' #88 and 'You & I' #53. At least the latter of those seems to have SOME genuine support although still nowhere near enough to justify its inevitable top 20 entry this week. Seems like 'Story Of My Life' may well be their only legitimate top 40 entry this week despite having 7 songs top 40 midweek. :D

This has been climbing the last couple of days and I believe the film it is on the soundtrack for ('Frozen') is released to UK cinemas next Friday following its US cinema release this week. It seems to be having a great effect on US iTunes, 'Let It Go' has just climbed into the top 50 there! So hopefully this fantastic song will be able to possibly chart in the top 75 here!
