Just heard 'Happy' for the first time. With such a poor single release schedule, I can certainly see it going to #1. It's really good, reminds me of some of Gnarls Barkley's stuff, however I wish it wasn't quite as repetitive.

That is not how it works though. Impulse buys are impulsive. That Sunday I might have that extra £10 in my bank to spare that I don't have next time I'm shopping. Or I'm in a rush next time, or the moment has passed and I don't really want the album any more.

First single of Avicii's that I haven't liked, but I hate the guy's voice and it's a step too far over the country line that Wake Me Up nicely infused.

Just begs the question why retailers of physical albums don't start selling them on a Sunday? I mean in a struggling Physical industry denying new albums an extra days sales seems so stupid.

 

I agree, though perhaps it just suits retailers to do the re-racking for a Monday.

 

Anyone ever worked in a shop know when it happens? Is it after they close on Sunday or early Monday morning?

 

Perhaps there being no post on Sunday is a factor, because the online retailers wouldn't be able to get the CD to their customers on release day so then they would be disadvantaged compared to the high streets. I know sometimes when you pre-order it turns up on the Saturday before anyway, but at least they've always advertised it as you get it on the Monday.

I would be so happy to see Avicii get a shock number one with Hey Brother though I'm thinking it may only peak about 4/5 but that's still great!!

 

Am I the only person who can't stand that new Pharrell track...it just doesn't do it for me, average at best but then again it might grow on me :)

It will be. It dropped out of the iTunes top 100 at the tail end of last week and stayed top 40 from #32 on Friday.

I have no idea... It isn't a new song at all, I heard it MONTHS ago in the summer iirc. I think it's part of a soundtrack for a movie, so maybe the film it's in has just come out.

It's funny you say it sounds like Gnarls Barkley, since Happy re-uses parts of Hello by T.I./Cee-Loo Green (which Pharrell also produced).

Yeah, it is. It's nice, but I find it difficult to get used to. A very weird instrumental, and quite sparse. However, Talk Dirty is very odd too, and that did, um, rather well for him. :lol:
