Ooh! Kinda excited to hear who's on it and if it tops the 1984 or 2004 versions. 1989 was shit so I trust it will be better than that one.

I'd say X Factor will have a battle for Xmas #1 but wasn't Band Aid 2004 on its 4th week at #1 when it was at #1 for Xmas 2004? So I'm guessing it will be released on December 1st perhaps, or 8th at the latest. No point releasing on Xmas week and only having one decent week of sales I guess.

It still looks like the X Factor winner will have the Xmas #1, with the odds incidentally dropping back in the last few hours, worth putting some money on!

Pixie Lott 4th favourite to be Xmas #1 with William Hill, have you been placing sizeable bets on her chances Lee!?!

Yeh it was released on the final week of November and had 4 weeks at no1 of which Xmas week was its final week from what I remember then Steve Brookstein was after Xmas - Cowell held him back. Wonder if he will do that this time?

I am happy this is happening, i do love the original song and also the 1989 version is brilliant, i was not so keen on Band Aid 20 so Band Aid 30 can only be an improvement on that. Band Aid 30 in my humble opinion would beat the X Factor to number 1.

People thinking Leona has enough of a career these days to get on this!

(look at her being announced now, my luck :P)

I wonder will many old school acts appear, for example will Bono still be on it or are they going to take the route of just all current popstars? I would love Take That on it as they have yet to appear.
I'm beginning to agree with Rich/Gooddelta, I think the X Factor winners track will still take #1, if the Band Aid 30 single drops a fortnight early from the X Factor's Winner's track release date, the Band Aid 30 sales would start decreasing in Week 3.
Same here, with cds sales the song was able to keep above 200k in 2004 but with mainly downloads now i dont know how it will do or if the public will go for it again physically?!

I agree, really can't see Leona on there. She's not 'current' anymore. She hasn't really had any major hits since the 00s.

Even Simon Cowell parted with her.

EDIT: I forgot she had a Christmas album last year which did okay - no recent singles success though.

Bono

One Direction

Emili Sande (of course)

Ed Sheeran

Bastille

Adele (ITN says she's in, Lizo is vague and it might have just been an intro to Paul Epworth's involvement)

Ellie Goulding

Sam Smith

Ollie Murs

Chris Martin

Sinead O'Conner (ew...)

Foals (say The Independant)

Elbow (say The Independant)

David Bowie asked to record an introduction

Rita Ora's participation dependant on her Voice Contract.

So far...

Released Monday, unlikely to be a Christmas contender in this case.

Will be a US version and some European versions

Song will be updated to be more 'modern' and remove references to hunger because its about ebola

Cover will be designed by Tracy Emin

I hope you're wrong. We shall see.

Surely Band Aid have a strong chance at grabbing the #1. I mean Justice Collective & The Military Wives managed to knock X Factor off when theirs were for charity so I wouldn't count BA30 out really.

Both were released on Xmas week, I seriously doubt Band Aid will be. I might put some money on X Factor now the odds have drifted.

So has this definitely been confirmed or is it just rumours ATM?

Press conference taking place now, will update post above as it happens :cheer:

Is that all they have singing on this? Band Aid 20 had about 30 artists...
I think Ed, Ellie and Niall should sing one of the parts as a trio together *.*

No full list announced yet, its trickling out based on Bob and Midge's interview comments

I wonder if the release is so early because they wanted to secure 1D from Syco?
