So pleased to see Leona doing well. I was really worried it had all gone wrong last week but have been proved wrong it seems. Hope the single and album go top 5.

Yay for King Robot! Slaying all these basic bitches with the stone cold troof. *.*

Also, this discussion happens ALL the time! Leona is still on the show because she is DEFINITELY the person who comes to mind when you talk about the X Factor and being successful. She's the most successful winner from the show, even with her latest chart performances. I don't think One Direction or Olly Murs (despite being far more successful and relevant now) come to mind as much as Leona does when people talk about the show. They're big enough to have shaken off the tag and I think it helps that they didn't win so they don't get the "The biggest group/artist to have won the X Factor" comments and stuff. Dermot even said on Saturday (in his introduction) that she is the most successful winner from the contest and from that point it'd be silly not to promote your most successful contestant on the show.

I agree. She's the "signature artist" from the show, so to speak. Plus, it might seem like ages ago to some people that she was huge, but to me (and probably many others) it seems like yesterday. It's not like people are going to suddenly forget she existed.

One thing I think we can say for sure is that they won't have her on the same week as the Black Eyed Peas again.

Two points:

1) She's the biggest seller to emerge from the show because album sales have been on the wane throughout its run and she was the only one of the handful of proper success stories to be around early enough to cash in on higher sales. I would imagine that 1D and Olly would eventually overtake her were sales what they were in 2007/8 and JLS wouldn't have been far off.

2) She's the one that comes to mind at least in part because she's a great example of both the good and the bad side of reality success. Massive seller who transcended the reality show audience whose career tailed off rapidly and struggled to match the early hype. Pretty much the embodiment of both sides of the coin.

Whilst not downplaying her achievement as she's done a lot better than I thought, 3-10 are extremely close in terms of popularity bars and the XF boost/Sunday effect is usually still fresh around this time. So I don't think her getting this high initially is that much of a surprise, Where she is on Thursday/Friday will give a more realistic picture of where she'll chart.

It is good to see an original Christmas song doing well, just wish Christmas Lights could've done the same a few years back :( (That actually had a similar shoot up to the upper reaches before falling like a brick, but was a midweek release so annoyingly missed the top 10)

One Direction are global phenomons as well, and I think maybe soon they'll overtake Leona as the biggest success story from X Factor. Olly Murs does great worldwide too, but not on the same level as Leona or One Direction.

It seemed more special when Leona had the global success, since it was rarer then for a UK artist (especially in the US). Ever since Adele it's been far more common for UK artists to have success is the US (still a big achievement though, and something that Olly Murs, Cher Lloyd and One Direction have managed, in terms of people from X Factor).

Point #2 applies to pretty much every X Factor star, not just Leona, since nearly all of them do well at first them decline in success. Olly Murs is the only one who I'd say who hasn't done this, since he didn't do the usual pattern of one single that does well, then the rest doing progressively worse. Maybe One Direction as well. They still haven't topped the success of What Makes You Beautiful yet, but overall if feels like they've stayed quite consistent in popularity (despite all the claims that their career is about to be over whenever they've miss #1 ).

3 Leona Lewis

One More Sleep

Seriously? :DD Hope it can get to no.1! I really like it, could be a bonefied Xmas Classic in a few years, or maybe I'm just talking like a Leona fan :/

Really hope Leona holds up, i love the song, even to get an official top 10 would be great and higher would be greater.

Morning update: http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?s...t&p=4523602

59p songs in the top 100:

 20 Afrojack feat. Spree Wilson - The Spark

 42 Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas Is You ***

 52 RY X - Berlin

 81 Wizzard - I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday ***

 82 Dizzee Rascal feat. Teddy Sky - Love This Town

*** Only one version is 59p, not the other ones that are charting (Fairytale Of New York is back to 99p)

It looks like Hey Brother are shooting up to fast for Leona to take on number 2. But she seems to be solidly settling into the number 3 position. This could be her highest charting song since Happy back in 2009.
Leona still no.3 and increasing the fastest in the top 10 in the last update. She is also number 4 and 5 on Amazon
Top 3 for Leona at this stage is still good, airplay should continue to increase throughout the week which will also help in conjunction with her tv promotion. Top 5 could be very much possible now.
I think it just shows that we NEED a new Christmas song. I for one am really sick of the same ones being rinsed every year. It's a shame Kelly Clarkson hasn't got any UK promo, to put her song out there. Would be good if that made the top 40 at least.
Leona is still increasing fast, Avicii is increasing slightly faster in the lastest Kworb update. They're both gaining on Lily at the moment. - While Leona doesn't look to overtake Hey Brother, she's massively closed the gap between 3 and 4, with there being more than 12% between her and Ellie Goulding.

'How Long Will I Love You' is still doing amazingly well, #4 on iTunes :o I know this was the CiN single but I always forget how popular her ballads are anyway. (I.e. Your Song, The Writer outpeaking G&H and Explosions outpeaking Figure 8).
She was on JR on saturday which has helped stabilise it!

1 Lily Allen - Somewhere Only We Know 1.0000

2 Avicii - Hey Brother 0.8923

3 Leona Lewis - One More Sleep 0.8615

Avicii & Leona are gaining Lily. I wouldn't be surpised if they both pass her a take the #1 & #2 positions on iTunes later today. Lily is in red, while Leona & Avicii were in dark green in the last update. We could see another close battle this week for the #1. :)

If they can get far enough ahead we could have a new top 2 this week. cant see Lily selling any more than 60k even with the performance from XF (she was only at a measley 46k last week)!! But at least the top 3 will all sell around that amount which is better than last week!
I think people need to stop thinking Leona is going to be top 3 or even top 5 on Sunday. The songs are all so close and Leona was miles behind on the highest sales day, Sunday. I think she may just scrape the top 5, but I think a position of #6 or #7 this week is more likely.
