I'm disappointed, it's a very Katy video and it's kinda fun but nothing really happens plot-wise, at the very least she could have found one suitable bachelor. Song isn't really growing on me as much as I'd like either :( Not bad though.

I have no idea what I just witnessed. It's like California Gurls on Egyptian acid - like Umi says, nothing really happens yet I did enjoy it but more in a way that I was kinda like 'what the f*** is going on' throughout the entire thing.

Far from her best video but it's certainly very watchable. Kinda expecting it to get slated though for all of the reasons that Umi stated and more, people who don't like her will have a field day ripping this to shreds but it is a good fun video with plenty of kooky elements to it that are ultimately very Katy. It's just not executed in the most polished manner imaginable.

I love the Katy & Juicy scenes, the final climax is brilliant and the colour throughout is wonderful too.

The first 2 minutes or so are just a little awkward though without much substance but it's cute on the whole.

I really love the video, it's not quite up there with her greats like 'Hot N Cold', 'California Gurls' and 'The One That Got Away' but I'd say it's the best of the era, the girl is such a fruit loop.
It's sort of like she's grabbed an unused idea of the "Teenage Dream" era board... The interesting parts for me at the box splits on the pole and the Juicy J stuff. Everything else is painful, like the "Part Of Me" acting.

Yeah, the Egyptian theme was tacky enough to begin with but this is just terrible. It's as if she's just going out of her way now to try and say "woo, I'm absorbing different cultures and putting it across in my music" without actually knowing what she even wants to do with them / what possible concept there is within the videos and performances.

This era is beyond salvage now.

Very disappointed with the video :( Roar and Unconditionally had fab videos, this is just a bit Lady Gaga (I see she borrowed her yellow wig from Telephone at the end?) However I love Katy so if she is happy with the video, then I am. :D

Love the video. No solid plot, but in all honesty I don't look for much of a plot in a music video (but maybe it's just me), it is just an extra bonus if it does have one (and sometimes a plot can even kill a music video for me). It's a colourful, fun 'California Gurls'-esque video and does the job nicely as well as the fact it's a visual treat and really beautiful to look at!

Oh and Calum, how is the era "beyond salvage" if it's as high as it is on iTunes and charting in various countries?!

What made you think I was referring entirely to how she's performing on iTunes?

'Unconditionally' had the flop peak, 'Dark Horse' has the shit video with a flop concept. I'm not sure it can get any better, unless she releases 'Legendary Lovers' although she'll likely ruin that with another terrible video.

Not a fan of the video, this song deserves so much more. She should've gone with the theme from the Grammys for the video!

I think what's being questioned is why it's "beyond salvage". Like, who for, it's iTunes performance highlights that the era has been saved by the success of this track. So, is it beyond salvage for yourself?

I think she's suffering from the Lady Gaga effect, like she's so popular and there's so much anticipation behind her videos that invetably people are going to be disappointed.

But you forget she's not Lady Gaga, she has never taken herself too seriously and with her it has always only been about FUN FUN FUN. This video is a great KP video, and I don't quite get the critcism behind it. Any other popstar releasing it, you would love it.

And please stop being so literal. The video hadn't to be "dark" because the title is "dark horse". Just like "Roar" didn't have to develop a Rocky theme because she sang "eye of the tiger" in it. Thank god her creative team has a bit more imagination than that.

What a terrible video. This girl is just so basic.

And that performance, she can't sing, she can't dance, let alone do both simultaneously. No wonder her tour isn't selling out

I absolutely loved that video  made me like the song more too.
Okay video, but I was just thinking WTF throughout. I love how crazy and random she is though. She is probably the best pop female out there for videos right now, maybe along with Rihanna too.
