Posted December 31, 201311 yr Good afternoon! Hopefully starting from tomorrow, Rob and myself will be counting this down (that being a top 75). All of the 2013 multicharts have been combined and although the final chart of the year hasn't been included yet, I already know the winner as it can't be caught! 75pts were awarded to each #1 down to 1pt for each #75. Nothing has broken the 2000pt barrier as Loreen did last year but the runner-up has done better than Gotye. With all that said, get predicting..!
January 1, 201411 yr Author All chart runs cover the 2013 period only so with that in mind, away we go; 75 One Direction - Kiss You [11 wks] (15-6-5-5-6-12-21-24-41-53-61) 587pts http://i.imgur.com/xOc5gkV.png Kicking us off and just edging out "The Other Side" by Jason Derulo are my favourite band who recently gained their own Buzzjack Artist Forum! "Kiss You", taken from their 2nd album "Take Me Home" as the 3rd single, appears to be one of the more popular 1D tracks on here, managing a better peak than the other two singles from the album and everything that has come since. 74 Olly Murs - Army Of Two [15 wks] (68-52-55-48-42-35-22-13-12-16-20-22-26-42-75) 592pts http://a2.mzstatic.com/us/r30/Music/v4/af/26/e9/af26e9bb-b417-e834-fa05-ae136930da6b/886443899193.170x170-75.jpg The second single from "Right Place Right Time" often seems to get a bit of indifference/hate when I see it mentioned on here, not performing as well as the follow-up since "Dear Darlin'" (the same of which was true in the UK charts). I really enjoy it though and think it's loads better than the very dull DD. 73 Ke$ha - Crazy Kids [16 wks] (66-56-64-56-36-21-15-15-14-23-26-30-37-49-41-74) 593pts http://a2.mzstatic.com/us/r30/Music2/v4/44/d5/79/44d57944-a0b0-7701-b2bb-214330c9343e/886443977976.170x170-75.jpg Seen as a poor single choice by some, "Crazy Kids" was pushed as the third single from "Warrior" with a new mix featuring will.i.am (it was even part of his set when I went to his tour last month!). I don't think it did too badly given the circumstances, her momentum had gone and this was snubbed by Radio 1 iirc. I love it personally, if only "C'mon" hadn't been released. 72 Le Youth - C O O L [11 wks] (26-19-12-7-10-13-11-18-33-35-59) 593pts http://a5.mzstatic.com/us/r30/Music2/v4/b8/24/74/b824744c-316c-e835-18c3-d53344a07afc/886443879201.170x170-75.jpg A top 10 BJSC entry in October 2012, "C O O L" became more of a minor hit last year for American DJ/producer Le Youth. It's exactly what it says on the tin, inoffensive and easy to listen to without being one of my favourites of the year. 71 Ellie Goulding - Figure 8 [10 wks] (2-3-2-2-7-8-24-23-36-42) 611pts http://img3.douban.com/view/photo/thumb/public/p1813102907.jpg The first of a few Ellie Goulding tracks to feature is "Figure 8", the first Multichart #2 of the year. It didn't take off in a massive way in the UK compared to what she's done since but the people of BuzzJack (myself included) appear to love it - the peak matches that of "Burn", her first UK #1.
January 1, 201411 yr I wish 'Figure 8' did better in the chart :( Yay for Le Youth making the top 75 ~
January 1, 201411 yr I am so devastated that One Direction are out so early that I'm not following this anymore. (it's the song I like okay)
January 1, 201411 yr 'Figure 8' not doing too well in this chart either :snif:  :( 'Crazy Kids' was definitely a poor single choice at the time but my how i've grown to love it now (still shoulda been one of the other 10 potential choices though!!1)
January 1, 201411 yr I am so devastated that One Direction are out so early that I'm not following this anymore. (it's the song I like okay) Does that mean you LOVE all of the others? x Why didn't Ke$ha release Supernatural?! Would've been a mega smash!!!!! :( :heehee:
January 1, 201411 yr 'Figure 8' not doing too well in this chart either :snif:  :( I'd say it's doing brilliantly for an EOY chart! :D
January 2, 201411 yr 70 Ellie Goulding - Explosions [12 wks] (54-26-17-14-8-7-10-11-16-30-33-73) 613pts http://mm01.batanga.com/media/Album/1308/ellie-goulding-explosions-single-170x170-2652698.jpg After 'Figure 8' appeared at #71, third Halycon single 'Explosions' goes just one better. Despite peaking 5 places lower, and managing just 3 weeks top 10 in comparison to 'Figure 8' which racked up 6 weeks top 10. However, it's longevity was more impressive and it's 12 week run has earnt it a spot in the top 70. Two Goulding's down; one to go. 69 Naughty Boy (feat. Emeli Sandé) - Lifted [13 wks] (54-38-30-29-17-11-9-15-15-22-32-45-57) 614pts http://a5.mzstatic.com/us/r30/Music6/v4/28/d4/ae/28d4aeae-e6e8-0662-a67f-1fb48eafbcce/13UAAIM43714.170x170-75.jpg Naughty Boy couldn't go an era without roping Emeli Sande in for a single release and it's earnt him a place at the #69 spot - possibly the least accurate slot from two of the most sexless people in the industry. But when it comes to the track, it has the trademark Naughty Boy sound and a memorable Sandé hook in the chorus with some cool wobbly violins thrown in. A top 75 finish is quite impressive given it only managed one week top 10, whilst songs such as 'Only Teardrops' reached #3 with 15 weeks in the chart and missed out! 68 Chase and Status - Lost & Not Found [12 wks] (43-17-8-6-7-8-15-23-30-39-38-61) 617pts http://a1.mzstatic.com/us/r30/Music2/v4/68/2d/73/682d7333-0e9a-085b-61d8-9e124bbbd3d5/13UMGIM63411.170x170-75.jpg The comeback single for Chase and Status, 'Lost & Not Found' finds it's way at #68 despite showing a much softer side to them than we were used to from 'No More Idols'. It probably picked up about 600pts from Bray alone though, so no great achievement to see it here. 67 Rita Ora - Radioactive [12 wks] (36-20-8-9-13-11-9-18-21-22-44-69) 632pts http://a1.mzstatic.com/us/r30/Music/v4/24/8a/51/248a5117-9233-6a8f-cf7e-1fcc6fb286d3/886443819283.170x170-75.jpg At #67, it's not an entry I particularly expected although it is generic as hell, so perhaps to be expected. It appears to have bobbled around the top 20 for 7 weeks to rack up the points. But, we all know that the video was trying to rip off the ever iconic 'Kiss The Stars' so I'll just assume it got some bonus points for it's good choice of inspiration. 66 Pink (feat. Lily Allen) - True Love [12 wks] (64-49-33-12-5-4-6-6-8-15-26-50) 634pts http://a1.mzstatic.com/us/r30/Music/v4/7d/46/1e/7d461ee3-38e0-f3ab-3734-a09191d3723c/886443581128.170x170-75.jpg Picking up ~150pts for every line that Lily Allen sings in this song, it's 'True Love', the fourth single of the era for Pink. Despite a top 5 peak, within 3 weeks of leaving top 10, it was out of the multichart altogether, leaving it lingering towards the bottom of the countdown while the much better 'Just Give Me A Reason' is still to come.
January 2, 201411 yr True Love  wish it did better, fantastic song and Lily's part really helps it even if she only has 4 lines. Radioactive is Rita's weakest though IMO. :(
January 3, 201411 yr Author This will start to speed up but my laptop restarted in the middle of doing this section last night :arrr: 65 Selena Gomez - Slow Down [22 wks] (70-50-44-42-39-44-43-39-32-32-28-38-40-45-48-55-46-38-53-70-71-65) 640pts http://a1001.phobos.apple.com/us/r30/Music/v4/2c/77/ae/2c77ae31-5559-9bf8-d510-2936f1f16004/UMG_cvrart_00050087295493_01_RGB72_1500x1500_13DMGIM03981.170x170-75.jpg Surprising entry here as this never took off in the UK and I'm a bit baffled at how it stuck around so long (even "Come & Get It" dropped out just before it could manage a 22nd week!) but who can complain when it's such a fab song. :P Very impressive for a song with a #28 peak to make the top 65 and I prefer it to C&GI by a fair margin. Stay tuned though as this isn't the only entry never to have made the UK top 40! 64 Tom Odell - Another Love [18 wks] (63-41-29-22-58-54-70-56-72-xx-33-17-16-18-22-26-31-41-54) 645pts http://i.imgur.com/ndfKohv.png A song that did eventually take off in the UK and re-entered and re-peaked as a result, "Another Love" is deservedly Tom's biggest hit. He's disappointed me since (Emeli Sandé post-Heaven anyone?? (and Joseph aside, the BuzzJack masses haven't fully latched onto him either)) but "Can't Pretend" and "Hold Me" were very good too. 63 The 1975 - Chocolate [14 wks] (73-43-29-13-9-8-5-7-11-20-35-44-45-xx-67) 655pts http://i.imgur.com/Xpu2Znq.png It's those b******s who try to break the Multichart spreadsheet every week!!1 "Chocolate" exited fairly quickly but a top 5 peak and four weeks top 10 are good achievements for this band who don't sound overly BuzzJack-friendly to my ears. The song is alright though for music you'd hear in the background on the radio. 62 Chris Malinchak - So Good To Me [15 wks] (58-40-26-17-12-9-5-11-20-24-32-40-48-69-74) 655pts http://a2.mzstatic.com/us/r30/Music2/v4/4c/df/00/4cdf00b6-7c73-f1f4-36c8-6c60468b844e/5051823093651.170x170-75.jpg American DJ/producer Chris Malinchak was held off the top spot in the UK only by Daft Punk. I never got the fuss and find it distinctly average. Some nice longevity helps it here with a decent top 5 peak. Moving on swiftly.. 61 Jason Derulo (feat. 2 Chainz) - Talk Dirty [12 wks] (37-34-19-15-13-10-12-9-14-13-27-53) 656pts http://a1.mzstatic.com/us/r30/Music6/v4/3f/5a/51/3f5a5154-4335-1bef-7cb6-e174bad8b363/054391972828.170x170-75.jpg We've stumbled upon our first UK #1 in the form of "Talk Dirty" (a select few that didn't have time or the means to rack up enough points include "The Monster" (548pts / 9 wks), "Under Control" (500pts / 9 wks) and "Somewhere Only We Know" (496pts / 7 wks)). With two non-consecutive weeks top 10 you guys appear to have taken to this more than "The Other Side" (which I personally prefer) but his best single of the era is clearly the current "Trumpets". 'your ass remind me of a kanye west song' - inspirational lyrics .
January 3, 201411 yr So much love for Another Love, and Tom in general. It's his best single but he's not done a bad single for me, each one has been SOOOO good.
January 3, 201411 yr 'Lifted' finishing ahead of both of those Ellie songs is an utter travesty. :arrr: But at least Chase And Status slayed that in turn ~ Decent finishes for Chris Malinchak and The 1975, neither are songs I would expect to massively appeal to BuzzJack.
January 3, 201411 yr 60 Paramore - Still Into You [12 wks] (27-18-16-16-12-15-13-18-19-29-50) 661pts http://a5.mzstatic.com/us/r30/Music/v4/ef/77/d6/ef77d6d0-24a1-e531-6b36-931ad05a3498/075679953711.170x170-75.jpg Sneaking into the top 60, we find Paramore with their best ever song in my opinion - which despite never reaching Top 10 lingered in the top 30 for 11 weeks; a rather impressive feat. It seems like going a little bit poppier worked for Paramore though as I can assure you that 'Now' is not yet to come. 59 Carly Rae Jepsen - Tonight I'm Getting Over You [15 wks] (30-28-23-24-27-35-44-45-36-34-21-16-25-34-53) 665pts http://a5.mzstatic.com/us/r30/Music/v4/8c/50/9f/8c509f38-c2c6-68d3-9065-a41d6ab40624/UMG_cvrart_00602537366835_01_RGB72_1500x1500_13UMGIM26750.170x170-75.jpg At #59, there's another example of 'you don't have to have a top 10 peak to do well here' as proved by Selena Gomez and Paramore. Infact, Carly Rae Jepsen only ever got 1 week top 20 with this track, which got a boost thanks to a Nicki Minaj feature remix. Most would've expected Carly to be a one hit wonder after finishing at #3 in the 2012 Multichart countdown but she's managed to at least make it two years in a row. Something which 2012's Gotye, Fun and most importantly, Alyssa Reid can't claim - although Joseph's stupid chart run alone for 'Alone Again' got it to #78 in this year's end of year list. 58 London Grammar - Strong [15 wks] (59-33-28-18-14-8-11-12-14-21-25-41-45-70-75) 666pts http://a695.phobos.apple.com/us/r30/Music4/v4/79/55/b4/7955b4c1-eca0-c606-c800-85a253dc2261/5051823095549.170x170-75.jpg After a bit of ravey Carly Rae Jepsen, we're led into a touch of class thanks to London Grammar and the delicate 'Strong' which peaked at #8 in the Multichart. Appealing to a range of fans, from the indie crowd to the pop lovers has helped but apparently the indie crowd aren't powerful as there's still crap like 'Gentleman' still to come. 57 Justin Timberlake - Suit & Tie [13 wks] (56-14-16-23-19-11-12-17-20-26-26-34-37) 677pts http://a4.mzstatic.com/us/r30/Features/v4/2f/25/75/2f257500-74c9-1cf5-024f-ec4f8328e812/dj.jjcxutgq.170x170-75.jpg After a 7 year wait for him, Justin Timberlake's comeback earnt him a spectacular placing of... #57. Although, of course, there's more to come - but Suit & Tie wasn't quite enough for Trousersnake to slip into the top 10 at the time and if I'm allowed an opinion, rightly so, dull song. 56 Iggy Azalea - Work [14 wks] (59-17-16-10-9-6-6-11-30-25-28-38-60-68) 681pts http://a5.mzstatic.com/us/r30/Music2/v4/df/20/74/df2074fa-9b0c-730c-77e1-7eef7c6c3011/UMG_cvrart_00602537417445_01_RGB72_1400x1400_13UMGIM43487.170x170-75.jpg At a criminally low #56, it's the 2nd best track of the year (yes, I am allowed an opinion, I've decided so) which fell just short of a top 5 peak in early 2013. This commercial debut was filled with more swag than Lee Wallace in a baby costume and saw Iggy Azalea walk into the hearts of many Buzzjackers in her LOUBOUTAAAARNS but apparently not into the top 50 of this countdown. Booooo.
January 3, 201411 yr This chart is awesome! I'm definitely adding a bunch of these to the playlist for my girlfriend's party tomorrow. Not sure if the chart will be done by then, but if not, it's still awesome! :D
