Just thinking about what existing releases will reach the 1 million mark this year.

A few shoe ins:

Naughty Boy - La La La: currently 940K and in the Top 75

Rihanna - Diamonds: currently 980K and selling 1K + per week

Katy Perry - Firework: currently 980K and still selling not far off 1K per week

Roar is now also looking like a good bet with over 800K and in the Top 10

Some other possible contenders:

Swedish House Mafia - Don't You Worry Child: currently 930K and selling 1 - 2K per week (should definitely get there by 2015)

Adele - Rolling in the Deep: must be getting very close now?

Pitbull - Give Me Everything: not sure how this is trickle selling but it must be close

Any others? I think Counting Stars may fall slightly short sadly

la la la is a cert i also think katy perry could have 2 with firework and roar another potential million seller could be rule the world by take that especially as they are returning this year.

I would love to try and work out a list of the best sellers this century now there are so many million sellers :o

I definitely think Firework, Roar and Diamonds will by the end of the year. Would love to see Swedish House Mafia get there as well.

If we are really going retro I anticipate Kylie and Jason's Especially For You and UB40's Red Red Wine to pass a million sales this year

Yeah I was gonna say 'Especially For You', although isn't there some controversy as to its official sales figure?

Yeah, many feel (and are probably right) that its sales are closer to 800k. Although the OCC quoted 980k back in 2012 so they'll have to stick with that.

Especially For You probably doesn't sell that much to be fair, but new material from Kylie this year as well as her role on the Voice UK might bump sales up just enough.

Is Whole Again a million seller yet? If not it can't be that far off?
It is, it passed a million sales last year.

I'm surprised that My Sweet Lord George Harrison is not a million seller yet. However I think there is a difference in opinion between Alan Jones and other sources to its original 1971/6 sales.
I'd say Rolling in the deep is one of the closest of all the songs mentioned here. My estimates put it roughly 10k short of the million.

This is one I'm keeping half an eye on, should get there in the first half of next year. That's the thing with trickle sales, slow but steady, it takes time but they get there in the end!

Let me know if I've missed any!

For a long time it seemed that only charity and X Factor-related songs could sell a million so it'e interesting to see that only two of the top ten in that list fit that category. I'm not counting Moves Like Jagger before anyone chips in.

I remember when people predicted that Band Aid 20 would be the last ever million-seller...

'Paradise' by Coldplay has unofficially sold a million, but it sold over 100k whilst being chart ineligible so the OCC doesn't count it - just throwing that out there in case you didn't know so you can decide whether to include it in your list or not ^_^

I honestly thought a few years ago that Will Young was going to be the biggest seller of the twenty-first century, let alone the 2000s!

I think "Counting Stars" will pass the million mark in 2014.
