I'm not really sure what you mean by 'structural flaws' but surely a song with an atypical structure would grab your attention more than one with a 'normal' structure?

So after finding the semi less than brilliant on my first listen, a fair bit of it is really growing on me. Also a few gems already in the other semi.

 

Too much to ask for Aeroche to do what he did last time and snatch the first win of the year :o?

you're right, I love unusual structure - in a competition though it's a flaw if nothing happens for the first two minutes, it needs re-jigging so attention is grabbed at least once during the 2 minutes, be it lyrics, vocal, melody, use of instruments or sounds, whatever. It's the rule of the single and eurovision - if you want to get noticed, you have to do something to get noticed. If you have an hour of leisure on an album it can be part of a mood, or in a club not so vital.

 

In terms of my own entries, the more subtle ones that reward repeat listens went down like a sack o bricks :lol:
