Posted February 10, 201411 yr BUZZJACK ULTIMATE BAND 2014 Nominations From ABBA to ZZ Top, we've all got a favourite band, but who's yours? It's been roughly three years since the last Ultimate band countdown, so I thought it was about time it was revived. This stage is the nominations round where we ask you to submit a list of your favourite bands, the top 100 bands will go through to a final voting stage and then the countdown will commence; RULES 1. Any group or band from any era/genre is submittable, but they have to have made at least TWO studio albums, this prohibits the more recent bands like Bastille or Disclocure. Compitations, soundtracks, re-releases, deluxe editions and live albums don't count which means that most well-known bands will qualify, with the only exception I can think of being The Sex Pistols who only had the one studio album and neither do Glee Cast as all their albums are soundtracks. 2. Duos are counted as bands in this list, as long as they meet Rule 1. 3. If you are unsure whether or not an act is a band, check their Wikipedia page and see how they are described in the first sentence (eg - group, band, project). Most notably Florence + The Machine & The Streets qualify as a band on this list, but Marina and the Diamonds do not. 4. Backing groups or artists who have albums with them do no count, unless they meet the criteria in their own right (eg. The Shadows). 5. In both stages you can give a mimimum of 10 votes and a maximum of 25 6. You can submit votes on this thread or via. a message to me, Leonardo. So those are the requirements, quite unrestrictive, now it's up to you. The dead line is Monday 24th February at 23:59PM Edited February 10, 201411 yr by Leonardo

JLS Would ideally have liked to nominate Stooshe, absolutely love their album. Can't say I agree with leaving out recent bands through that method. (although I would agree that at least one album needs to have been released) Edited February 10, 201411 yr by JosephStyles

February 10, 201411 yr Roughly 80% of the groups I actually want to nominate only have one album. Two album rule makes it a bit of an inequitable representation on the whole~

February 10, 201411 yr Author The reason I did the two album rule which I'm sure was used in another rundown was that it was a rundown of all-time favourites meaning those which have had shown more than just an album's worth of material.
February 10, 201411 yr Roughly 80% of the groups I actually want to nominate only have one album. Two album rule makes it a bit of an inequitable representation on the whole~ But no group with just one album can be even remotely considered the best ever imo, so them being in a countdown of the best groups ever makes it a bit biased and not particularly accurate either. I mean wouldn't it look a bit ridiculous if in all time list, an artist goes top 5 on the strength of one album and then plummets to 64 next time the poll's ran because their second album was a massive disappointment? I'll get my nominations in soon. Edited February 10, 201411 yr by Chez Wombat
February 10, 201411 yr I don't think an artist needs to have released 2 albums to be considered someone's all-time favourite at all, I prefer Stooshe to quite a few on my list actually. (added Atomic Kitten as I forgot them)
February 10, 201411 yr Author I don't think an artist needs to have released 2 albums to be considered someone's all-time favourite at all, I prefer Stooshe to quite a few on my list actually. (added Atomic Kitten as I forgot them) I do understand the point, but in order to stop the list being full of bands that are just from this year, i've imposed this rule, although it is supposed to be a somewhat annual list, so when said bands release their second album you can vote for them.

February 11, 201411 yr How can a band be the ultimate band with only one album. Quite easily. Quality not quantity.
February 11, 201411 yr I am completely in agreement with the "two album" rule. I don't think the idea of having them chart in a list like this with one album only is fair, because it's not very representative of how you feel about them at all. The second album, like CW said is usually seen to be a disappointment and therefore, by the time the next vote comes along, they may suffer from it. (An example for me (even though she's not a "group") would be Jessie J. Absolutely adore her first album, but her second album majorly disappointed me, so she'd definitely be lower on my list for female/artists etc...). So I'm definitely supporting this rule. My list shall be here soon! Also, do they have to be in order? :(
