 217. Mr. Probz - Waves (Robin Schulz Radio Edit)

Out on 27th April just like Calvin Harris's new song. It will probably be those two songs as the top 2 for that week.

Oh really? There goes Mr. Probz's chances of going to #1 </3 :(

Good to see John Martin making some traction on pre-orders, the song is too good to flop!

And Mr Probz looking to smash too, another Dutch success! Following Tiesto, Martin Garrix, Afrojack, Hardwell, Nicky Romero, Armin Van Buuren, Caro Emerald and I've probably missed a few. Interesting to see them become such a hit-making country again recently :o

One of the best songs out this year... will be HUGE, I think he can win over Calvin (It's better but I do prefect Calvin...)

Just you tubed this, not bad on first listen could grow on me in time, his voice sounds a bit rough in places though, nice to see another debut dance act, dance music has really taken over the charts in the past 12 months, I'm not knocking it, but I do like a bit variety to the charts. #217 on pre-orders its looking good for the track.

On a separate note has Eric Blob left

I'm pretty sure he hasn't. But I'm guessing seeing his weird posts, he was drunken

I haven't heard 'Waves' but just from gauging the general hype from it I think it is a likely #1 - Calvin possibly having to settle for a fifth #2 then? Would be a record matcher if it weren't for the 4 #1s he has as well of course

'Summer' is another great song from Calvin though, so I would love it to get him another #1. He is really unstoppable these days.

He could have waited until Summer to release it  pardon the pun

'#SELFIE' has dropped back down to #11 for the time being but I think it's sadly destined for the top 3 if not #1 at some point in the new few weeks.

It's not even summer, why does the DJ keep on playing Summertime Sadness?

He's not a dance artist tho, the original is a slow song

The next few #1s will probably go something like:

Dvbbs & Borgeous feat. Tinie Tempah 'Tsunami (Jump)'

Duke Dumont feat. Jax Jones 'I Got U'

Faul & Wad Ad vs. Pnau 'Changes'

Aloe Blacc 'The Man'

Sigma 'Nobody To Love'

Kiesza 'Hideaway'

DJ Cassidy feat. Jessie J & Robin Thicke 'Calling All Hearts'

Calvin Harris 'Summer' / Mr Probz 'Waves (Robin Schulz Remix)' (still not sure which one will get there but it'll probably become clear soon)

As you can see there's a lot of big held-back releases coming soon so I can't see #SELFIE making it there. It probably won't even go top 5, I can see the top 5 next week being Duke Dumont, Route 94, John Legend, Little Mix and Dvbbs/Borgeous (ouch at them possibly having a 1-5 drop) and the week after we've got 5SOS, Faul/Wad Ad and Martin Garrix possibly going top 5.

I don't think Faul and Wad Ad will get to number one, Duke Dumont will probably (or at least should) get more than a week at the top

Kiesza or John Martin could be the next big threat and then it will be between Mr Probz and Calvin Harris for the top spot

 at Summer, love this right now I really want to see this go to number one, he's just unstoppable at the moment! Can't wait to see what this 'huge' collaboration is all about though

The snobbery on here regarding #Selfie is hilarious. You guys are the same people who went bonkers over Gangnam Style, Loca People and generic stuff like Calvin Harris and David Guetta amongst other dance songs. "Death of the charts" etc and dissing Enrique Iglesias and Flo Rida's new songs is hilarious considering you all went mental for Neon Jungle, Kylie Minogue and The Saturdays singles (even though I adore them :D) which are also as generic as they come.

All dance stuff follows the same formula. Fast, big beats with crappy lyrics and a dance breakdown. They're not supposed to be groundbreaking. It's not the best song ever but it's catchy and people clearly like it and think it's funny. Just because it's selling better than Pixie Lott and Kylie Minogue doesn't mean you all gotta be so vicious about it. It's just a song.

How is it snobbery tho? Maybe people genuinly don't like the song?

Lots of things are wrong in this post

#SELFIE is basically a rip-off from Psy's Gentleman which was ulterly generic to begin with, never mind a rip-off version of it. It is clearly DESIGNED to be a viral hit with no intention of actual music quality, where is the integrity? It just consists of someone talking, terrible in my eyes. Loca People is also as hideous as #SELFIE and David Guetta's new song is terrible as it's the laziest thing I've ever heard. Also, Calvin Harris does produce some generic music but these aren't exactly well-liked (Let's Go, Drinking from the Bottle) and his more 'inventive' songs like Bounce are preferred. Yes, most dance songs follow the same formula but then so do other types of songs, you can still be inventive with these though even if it sticks to the formula. You can't just write off a whole genre like that. Music wouldn't be half as popular as it is if a whole genre of songs that weren't meant to be 'ground-breaking', you may as well just listen to the same song over and over again if that was the case. That's why Enrique and Flo Rida's songs are unpopular because they have been releasing the exact same things for several years now whereas Neon Jungle are just starting out with songs that are new for a girl band, Kylie does have a varying discography even if it may not be as varied as other artists and The Saturdays, while they do make generic songs, their discography is varied ie there are ballads, pop songs, dance-pop and then whatever Gentleman is. Also, just because their fans are very vocal it doesn't mean Pixie and Kylie's songs are particularly favoured on here. Nasty in particular is completely slated  and I agree that Into the Blue just sounds like Kylie by numbers.

Mr Probz is a dutch rapper, hip hop artist, and Robin Schulz (German DJ) made a remix of Waves that made the song famous.

Here's the original:

Because apparently 'it's because of snobs!!1!' is the go-to excuse for people in this thread who are bitter about songs they like not appealing to others recently.

Finished catching up with this week's new entries that I hadn't heard before release (Kylie and Christina). 'Into The Blue' is just boring, it's one of those songs where I can kind of see what it's TRYING to do but it just falls flat in practice. Felt like I was listening to it for about 10 minutes. 'Human' is decent and might be a grower but not liking it as much as her previous 2 hits yet. Overall a very subpar selection of new entries this week, though I do really like 'Tsunami (Jump)' so at least there's something good at the top of the pile.

Unrelated: Pharrell back  to #3. Quite possibly the last time 'Happy' will be inside the iTunes top 3 I think.
