Not gonna be able to unhear 'midget in the summer'.

I'm liking this a lot more than I liked 'Under Control' on first listen - hopefully this will be another grower though.

I actually like this a lot on first listen, but my Calvin taste is always the polar opposite to everyone else's on here. My favourites of the 18 Months era were Let's Go and Drinking From The Bottle
Not a bad effort from Calvin, even though it's nowhere near his best. I'd give it 7/10 as it's better than Drinking For The Bottle, but not up to the great standards of Sweet Nothing, Feel So Close and Acceptable In The 80's.

Despite easily being the most generic, I'd have to agree; I love both - they're very fun songs! Though I do like all the '18 Months' singles anyway.

His best since 'I Need Your Love' for me. :D Really liking it.

So anthemic, GAH. I can just picture it playing it in a club already and just the euphoria of it in a club et al. Much better than 'Under Control' too http://i.imgur.com/IzRvL2N.png

Well, he's clearly not changing formulas anytime soon, but this is sounding pretty great on first listen so no complaints!

In terms of Calvin singles from the last era (excluding Under Control which is still his best by far for me along with Acceptable in the 80s and I'm Not Alone) for me it went:

Let's Go>>Feel So Close>>>Bounce>>>Drinking From The Bottle>>>>I Need Your Love>>>>>>Thinking About You>>>>>>>>Sweet Nothing>>>>>>>We'll Be Coming Back

Liked the first 4, everything after that got a bit too overplayed and I never really liked the last two.

I quite like it. Doesn't have the instant love appeal that Under Control did but I'll probably end up really loving it. Another good effort Calvin :D

Tune! Loved this on first listen but as has been said it doesn't show much, if any, progression in his sound as it sounds like a track left over from the RFTW era but that doesn't bother me

A great track perfect for the summer, and I have missed Calvin singing :)

I can see this being a massive number one hit!

Also, can't wait to see who this mystery collaboration is going to feature...I'm thinking maybe Madonna as she is working on new material?!?!

I don't know if it was the fact I listened to this on my phone but I'm a bit underwhelmed by this. -_-
He doesn't really have any need/motivation to develop his sound when it's still doing so well for him to be fair  I haven't got bored of his style just yet, I still love all of his singles from the '18 Months' era (aside from 'Drinking From The Bottle' which has got a bit old and just feels like a weak 'Miami 2 Ibiza' these days, though I don't exactly hate it) and 'Under Control'.

Oh I know he doesn't need to change his sound, but this just feels a bit weak compared to the some of the singles from '18 Months'.

Its definitely not as good as some of his other stuff like feels so good and bounce.
The drop is slightly shit isn't it?
  • 2 weeks later...
I've decided that I really like this now. I won't say that it's one of my favourites from him, because I say this about practically every Calvin song a few weeks after they drop. But that drop is spectacular (HA! XD).
I'm still happy I managed to buy it when iTunes accidentally made it available! :D
