Almost any song that has been number 1 before would be number 1 again if given the huge television exposure of reality tv - would anyone agree with this statement?

Stonk - Hale & Pace : no amount of promotion could make something this woefully poor acceptable today. Even let's get ready to rhumble was mildly amusing in comparison

Hear'say: the way to your love. So cheesy! Liked it at the time, though!

The Stonk was a Comic Relief single though, the rules governing quality & success don't apply to charity singles.

hahahaha

Iron Maiden - Bring Your Daughter To The Slaughter

The Firm - Star Trekkin

Orson - No Tomorrow

Basshunter feat Mental Theo Bazzheadz - Now You're Gone

Wamdue Project - King Of My Castle

Personally, Id never lump Orson in with Basshunter and The Firm. Much better than the aforementioned acts.

Orson might be better than Basshunter and The Firm but that doesn't mean that No Tomorrow would be a hit if it was released newly today.

I also add to the list:

Spitting Image - The Chicken Song

Oasis - Lyla, The Importance Of Being Idle, Some Might Say, Go Let in Go Let It Out, All Around The World, D'ya Know What I Mean Fam

A new Oasis single would still be big news now, so I have to disagree with you about all the Oasis ones.

I actually bought their album!

Tasmin Archer's "Sleeping Satellite".

I know she did make a guest appearance on ChCMedia back in 2006 and I do have much love for the Bradford singer, but I just don't understand how it made it to #1 (even though I love the song) in a year when there were only 12 chart toppers all year. 1992 is a weird year.

I don't think "No Tomorrow" would get anywhere near #1 these days but I don't see why it couldn't be a success similar to "Riptide" and probably sell a similar amount to 2006.
most westlife songs and the last two b*witched number 1's. only because in the download era most of them would have been top 10 at best
Will it be the song you play when you want everyone to clear off because it's home time? :P

Goodies is utterly wonderful and I will hear none of this talk about it. Now move on :P

Any of Sugababes' #1 hits or The Saturdays' 'What About Us' lololol. :D

In seriousness though, 'Stomp' by Steps was lucky enough to be #1 at the time, let alone now! I think most #1's carry enough widespread appeal to be a hit at any point today.

The mid 00s were awful for the chart. After 2003 I just stayed on MTV2, it was too dangerous to go outside. I didn't start listening to the chart again until 2008 and we got some mature pop and the dance resurgence began!
