March 19, 201412 yr If Partition does take off in the next couple of weeks, it'll be the second time that R1 have been spinning the Beyonce song that isn't doing as well in the chart. I'm genuinely annoyed that R1 have chosen THIS point in the saturdays discography to drop them. It's clearly one of their better singles.
March 19, 201412 yr 'Drunk In Love' has been around for ages and is on the way out, what are they on?! Also #SELFIE, oh dear. :manson: Poor The Saturdays. :( On the upside, YAY for Indiana. smash please!
March 19, 201412 yr With regards to Beyonce, this is the what was sent out to radio stations from the record company on Monday: BEYONCÉ DRUNK IN LOVE IMPACT DATE - APRIL 14TH 2014 Please find enclosed a Super Clean Radio version of Beyoncé's hit single, 'Drunk In Love' which has sold over 190,000 copies in the UK since it was released in December. This single will work in conjunction with previously serviced single 'Partition', with both working to an impact date of April 14th. I don't understand why either. March 19, 201412 yr Wow, some really good additions this week! Very pleased to see Shift K3Y getting support, plus R1 continuing to support Skrillex is also good to hear.
March 19, 201412 yr With regards to Beyonce, this is the what was sent out to radio stations from the record company on Monday: I don't understand why either. So both "Drunk In Love" and "Partition" are singles? What a mess!
March 19, 201412 yr 'Drunk In Love' has been around for ages and is on the way out, what are they on?! Possibly... following record labels' choices? :o I see this as confirmation that 'Drunk In Love' was indeed not a 'joint single' with 'XO' in the UK and therefore I have been completely justified in still considering it an album track until now regardless of its success. Seems to be being treated as a joint 2nd single with 'Partition'.
March 19, 201412 yr I'm all for 'Drunk In Love' getting full support now. It's done decently but nowhere near as big as it should/could be. 'Partition' can wait.
March 19, 201412 yr Possibly... following record labels' choices? :o Well yes, if you're going to put it like that then interpret 'they' as the record label.
March 19, 201412 yr Well yes, if you're going to put it like that then interpret 'they' as the record label. Ah, in that case I agree. :P Really quite a pointless gesture to make it a single NOW after it's already been a big hit and is on the decline.
March 19, 201412 yr Drunk In Love has been playing regularly on KISS since December. Touch has been played quite a bit on KISS at the moment as well. As much as I enjoy Drunk In Love, let's move on please! Isn't Kiss a rhythmic-leaning station though? If so I can understand them playing Drunk in Love from the get-go. Also this is what I kept arguing about before. Just because Drunk in Love was doing better in the chart it doesn't mean it was a single. I've followed the chart for 4-5 years now, and I don't think I've seen even one case where an "urban-only" single got released as a single worldwide, it's always the mainstream single, and in this case it was XO. March 19, 201412 yr I'm all for 'Drunk In Love' getting full support now. It's done decently but nowhere near as big as it should/could be. 'Partition' can wait. I'd say UK Top 10 and being known by pretty much everyone is big enough.
March 19, 201412 yr Circa Waves AND Catfish & The Bottlemen on the Radio 1 playlist? Editors of every single newspaper's music section will have their 'guitars are back' thinkpiece running within the next few days.
March 19, 201412 yr I'd say UK Top 10 and being known by pretty much everyone is big enough. Agreed. It's virtually iconic Beyonce already - it's more of a Beyonce classic than anything on her previous album. The only reason it hasn't sold more is because the album has sold so well.
March 19, 201412 yr So good to see John Martin getting a-list support without the aid of a big dance artist! This song deserves to be huge, but I feel like it won't be as big as I want it to be!
March 19, 201412 yr Why is Paolo Nutini still seem as "hip & fresh" to Radio 1 but Paloma Faith & James Blunt aren't?
March 19, 201412 yr Why is Paolo Nutini still seem as "hip & fresh" to Radio 1 but Paloma Faith & James Blunt aren't? Because he's under 30?
March 19, 201412 yr Because he's under 30? Christina Perri is in her 20's and not playlisted. Clearly Radio 1 has a higher age ceiling when it comes to certain male artists. Edited March 19, 201412 yr by Ne Plus Ultra
March 19, 201412 yr So is Paloma (and Christina Perri). Paloma is 32. EDIT: Ah, I see you Googled it like me (and obviously Radio 1 :P) Edited March 19, 201412 yr by Noahspike
March 19, 201412 yr With regards to Beyonce, this is the what was sent out to radio stations from the record company on Monday: I don't understand why either. So it's basically the modern day equivalent of a double-A side!
