I know they have a HUGE lead in the mid-weeks, but if they drop out the top 10 on iTunes by the end of the week surely they might miss out?

It is falling fast, the problem is the other songs arent gaining really at all in sales (mainly because most songs are held back for ages now so the first week demand is huge compared to subsequent weeks. Especially seems to be the case for this Duke song he is set to sell half the amount of sales this week)!

Irrelevant pop chart

 641. Lena - Stardust

:ne: 1036. Lena - Stardust

:cheer:

while i am surprised at how much it's fallen thus far, i still do think SLSP will easily stay top 10 next week (and *maybe* have Can We Dance-style longevity afterwards)

a few new pre-order smashes:

357. Lethal Bizzle - The Drop (feat. Cherri Voncelle)

376. Secondcity - I Wanna Feel (Radio Edit)

Lethal Bizzle getting that chart hit? could be possible if R1 get behind it (they definitely will support 'I Wanna Feel' though, seems like it's had a good amount of plays on there already)

18. Chris Brown - Loyal (East Coast Version) [feat. Lil Wayne & French Montana]

23. Chris Brown - Loyal (feat. Lil Wayne & Tyga)

34. HAIM - If I Could Change Your Mind

52. The Black Keys - Fever

54. DJ Snake & Lil Jon - Turn Down For What

57. 50 Cent - Pilot

60. J Cole - She Knows (feat. Amber Coffman & Cults)

62. Passenger - Whispers

81. Lady Gaga - G.U.Y.

170. Hozier - Take Me To Church

251. Passenger - Whispers

54. DJ Snake & Lil Jon - Turn Down For What

This can hopefully make the top 40 when Radio 1 start playing it!

5SOS are outselling #11 1.5 to 1 (which is 17 percent points) so they still have quite a big gap to erm... "undercome" to fall out of the top-10.

But it is not impossible given that they have fallen by 10 percent points during the last 24 hours. I think they will fall to #9 by tomorrow afternoon and might fall out of the top-10 even before the new Sunday releases appear, as Sam Smith will definitely sell bucketloads and DVBBS will be quite steady on Saturday.

21. Little Mix - Word Up!

No more lazy, mediocre covers please, girl-bands, we're over it! Neon Jungle; Don't F++k it up.

I doubt 5SOS are going to drop out of the official top 10 next week but they're very unlikely to remain top 5 and may fall to around #9. Must be heading for one of the largest % sales falls in the second week for a #1 debut for some time though.

I realise this is just "doubt" but what actual evidence is there to support them remaining top 10? Seems like they're gonna be at the very edge of the top 10 at the very best and not at all comfortably either.

At the rate they're going they'll be lucky to remain in the iTunes T10 by *this* Saturday (regardless of being #1 overall), so that's no basis to expect them to be T10 overall the following week.

How have these pre-orders been so high consistently a long while before the release? Aren't these artists kinda unknown? A station must play it virtually every minute?!

Radio 1 have given them a lot of support especially recently.

 5. 5 Seconds of Summer - She Looks so Perfect

:o Must be a revert, surely?

I hope it's that rather than a twitter campaign to help it stay at #1 officially for Sunday (not that it needs the help but it's not like the boys are gonna say 'we're doing fine so you can stop buying our single x') Knowing the type of fanbase they have that is sadly a possibility though :(

I'll get the tissues at the ready for you xx

I don't know, but there were songs last year from The Vamps and Arctic Monkeys which had fanbase driven first week sales/big drops in their 2nd week but still stayed in the charts a long time after that. So even if it does drop out the top 10 next week it's possible it could still get a couple of months top 40.

worth noting that in AU/NZ where it's already been out for a month, it's proven to become a genuine hit outside of the initial fanbase debut.

Little Mix certainly won't be doing anymore (well apart from their Live Lounge sessions/touring and stuff etc..). They/their label clearly only agreed to this due to it being a charitable release (as you could tell by the week of promotion last week was all in one day (Friday/Sport Relief day)). They've confirmed that a song from the album IS the next single so the 'Salute' campaign is not over with just yet :D

(I know you weren't having a dig at LM and more about the general strategy of girl groups lately. So this was not a moan post at you :P)
