GRRRRR!

Is Sophie Ellis-Bextor still kicking around?

Out of the top 40 as well

Mind you Sophie and Kylie might go back up later in the week, there is a load of new albums which will fall out later in the week from the top 40, especially the new albums from No.34 onwards.

And no one commenting on Paolo Nutini's sales?

They're amazing :o I really need to check this album asap!

Good but not unreal sales for Keisza. Should break 150k at least. Paolo album doing well should get 80k at least. The Vamps have sold a surprising amount alot of young kids off this week i take?

I commented about predicting his high sales. :)

Seems the top 2 albums are set in stone, not that we didn't know that anyway. Paolo will probably do over 90k by the end of the week, The Vamps perhaps pushing 50k.

Not a fan but I knew PN would have very strong album sales. Wonder if he'll break 100k

I think he'll just about break 100k sales as, at 43.6k in one day, he only needs a 2.29 multiplier to do so. For recent comparisons, George's was 3.14, Pharrell's: 2.8, Paloma's: 2.27, Kylie's: 2.23, Elbow's: 2.13. I don't imagine he'll be particularly front-loaded compared to these acts so I hope he manages it.

Very impressed with The Vamps' one day total. It's hard to know where they'll end up as they'll obviously be relatively front-loaded. However, they have had three significant hits recently so I'm sure they'll also be selling to a good proportion of casual fans throughout the week. I think 50k would be a stretch for them though but 40k+ would still be a great result. Why didn't the label release last week though ?! They would have already outsold Kaiser Chiefs' seven day total by 6,000 and sailed towards a number 1 album!

Speaking of missed opportunities, Paloma ended up only 800 sales off the top spot last week and is now the highest non-new entry. Some sort of promotion/iTunes advertising last week could have done the job :coffee:.

The full album's on Yotube and it's great. May buy it myself. Great first sales figures. 100k+ this week?

Tuesday Update Top 40 Only

Albums

1 Paolo Nutini (43,6k) *

2 The Vamps (22,3k) *

3 Paloma Faith (3,5k)

4 John Legend (3k)

5 Ian Anderson (2,8k)

Ian Anderson?

Paolo will probably do over 90k by the end of the week, The Vamps perhaps pushing 50k.

Given how frontloaded the Vamps sales usually are, I would guess more like 40-45k

I've done what I can but I have no idea what the Stone Roses and Emmylou Harris albums are as they don't seem to have new releases (on iTunes or in the new release schedule)

A lot of albums in the chart this week that I had no idea existed (clearly a lot of those new entries are just taking advantage of the fact that ridiculously low sales are needed to be in the Tuesday midweek top 40 right now :P) Who knew Rhydian was releasing another album this week? With a #14 appearance in the first mids it will likely chart higher than his last album ('Waves', #39 in 2011). And go on Billy Bragg getting a midweek top 30 with a random live album!

Paolo's album probably not quite on course for 100k but it should very easily beat Sam Bailey anyway.

Very boring singles chart this week, great to see Tove Lo up to #8 and Paolo Nutini reclimbing but little else to be excited about. #4 is a good position to start in for Meridian Dan but I doubt he'll hold onto the top 10 now.

Google gives me Jethro Tull

Lead singer of Jethro Tull to be precise. This album is currently doing rather a lot better than any of his previous solo albums (again probably just due to very low sales). Will probably plummet over the week.

I agree the singles chart is highly boring, hardly any movement so early in the week.

And I nearly read Ian Anderson's album title as something else ;)

The Stone Roses album is virtually selling on vinyls.

Oh *that* Ian Anderson - didn't know he was even still around...

Wonder if Kylie/record company will allow KMO to drop totally and then just make a comeback after her stint in Australia and sell I Was Gonna Cancel and KMO as though it has never been released with lots of promo etc.....
Ah, so the Emmylou Harris album at #37 today is a re-release of 'Wrecking Ball' which originally reached #46 in 1995 making it technically a new entry (obviously no chance of remaining top 40 all week though).
Blimey sales further down must be low if the Stone Roses are in on vinyl sales only. AFAIK it's only re-released on vinyl.

Paolo Nutini? Where's those large sales come from?

As far as I knew he was a minor irritant from years ago, and a minor hit single as a comeback wouldn't have led me to believe he could shift that many albums in a week

I think the chart run of his last album speaks for itself:

1-2-2-3-7-12-6-4-4-4-4-5-6-6-13-22-30-31-31-5-5-9-14-21-20-22-22-18-15-15-1-1-2-2-1-3-3-5-7-6-7-7-7-6-4-6-7-10-9-18-17-...

...-94-46-...

His first album sold well over a million copies as well (his two albums have total sales of ~1.5m and ~1.75m respectively).

Plus he's never exactly been huge in the singles chart, this 'minor hit single' he's come back with is his second highest peaking single ever.

A minor irritant with 2 million selling albums? :P
