I have to admit, I wasn't expecting Paolo Nutini to do particularly well either, despite his past success. He's just been AWOL for so long, and the housewives and grannies (who I assume have always made up the bulk of his sales) are notoriously fickle. That said, I think they got the choice of lead single this time spot on - edgy enough to stand out, but still not alienating to the MOR audiences.

Have to disagree with your assessment of who he appeals to. I'm sure his main audience won't be grannies. Also it's the young that tend to be very fickle. I'm not a fan of his raspy voice but hats off to him For showing you don't need to be constantly on the pop conveyor belt to be hugely successful.

grr  at the huge kylie drop hopefully it can move back into the top 40...whst position is gary barlow this week?

Older music buyers are generally more likely to be patient and wait for their favourite artists to release new material when they are ready.

I doubt it..... selling nothing on Amazon all out of top 100 sellers, down to 357th on ITunes.... HMV probably expensive.... no price promo's this week yet.......

no adverts, no radio play for any songs..... all very quiet now.

will probably comeback to promote album all over again without the interference of the Voice UK etc.. and get stuck in and be more free

an appearance on BGT semi-finals would be nice and Alan Carr.....

I might be wrong, tbh I just assumed he appealed to older people purely because I don't think I've ever met anyone who likes him, but his sales have to come from somewhere

I'm still astonished how few album copies are actually sold nowadays.

Morten Harket (ax a-ha) might end up with maybe 2 or 3k copies sold.

I wonder if this relates to a-ha's albums.

Does anyone have the sales figures for them, especially the less succesful ones like Memorial beach, Minor Earth Major Sky, Lifelines and Analogue?

Just noticed The Hoosiers' new album hasn't even sold 622 copies (this week) yet. What a fall from grace! :o Well when all you fan pre-orders are distributed the week before general release, what else can you expect? I haven't even bought it yet, the first 2 singles have been decent, but not what I was hoping for, and certainly not a patch on any of their previous singles. :(

The fact hes on both radio 1 & 2 shows hes probabaly gaining sales across the age spectrum & is top 10 on airplay!

I agree he is the sort of artist i can see radio 1 dropping in a few albums time!

How has Iggy fallen to #13. She seemed to have been holding up okay! She'll be off the Radio 1 playlist today then.
Must be the combined totals that are pushing Iggy down, anyone got the top 40. Missed the update. Wheres Tove Lo specifically>?
Cheers, should be 5-7 by Sunday as its a consistent seller. Good climbing!!
